Aug 24, 2023Not a big fan of rogue-like games but...
Pros.:
- Family manor and many upgrades.
- Gameplay is quite simple. Easy to navigate.
- Map and its design.
Cons.:
- Some bosses are quite annoying even with good lvl.
- High lvl of adjustment. You kind of need to like this type of games to play it. Otherwise, it gets boring too fast. -

Jun 9, 2023Really solid roguelike platformer. Its challenging but it has a cool incremental upgrade system centered on building a family legacy. Its challenging but there's good class variety and the controls are responsive, so boss fights and chaotic rooms can be a lot of fun.

Apr 29, 2023Fairly fun rogue-lite game with decent platforming and interesting builds in the late game. Did not hold my interest until the end tho.

Jul 14, 2019I do not understand the over rating in this game.
It s an ok platform game but it is NOT a ROGUE like game where jumping, avoiding thing n slashing n stuff should not take place like this. Many games like this and thism this one is not bad but not particularly good. -
Jun 25, 2019Rogue Legacy is a truly fun game. Like, it's something that very easily gobble up your time, as you learn enemy patterns, gets more equipment and stats and has quite a few cool boss fights.
-
May 22, 2019It's an action rogue-like where your skill might actually be more important than your luck. If that's not enough to make you want it, the developers managed to make an explanation for why do you resurrect from death every time, and WHY you keep all your money after dying.
Praise your family! -

Oct 5, 2017Really cool roguelike that has found an innovative way for your progress to carry over between iterations. My main qualm is that the controls aren't as nice as I would like, which leads to some deaths that feel pretty unfair.
-
Aug 29, 2017Spent about 80 hours in this game. You can beat it much faster, but I liked grinding, and upgrading my castle. The controlls are near perfect, and the first hours with the game was amazing. It got a little repetative after a while, but you can play the game as you would want.

Dec 12, 2016This is the kind of game I put on my laptop and take to school to play when I have nothing better to do. The graphics are simple so it doesn't lag, the game is fast paced, and the characters are entertaining. The game has a lot of playtime that I haven't had the chance to fully explore but hopefully I can manage to complete the game in the upcoming months.

Apr 19, 2016I've always wanted to like Roguelikes more than I enjoy them. I love the idea of randomly generated challenges and disposable characters. This game made the genre work for me, though I wished for more characterization and humor.

Dec 15, 2015A pretty awesome 2d rogue-like RPG platformer. Every gamer should play this very awesome game, because it's charming, fun, addictive and so awesome. It also has a kick ass soundtrack, don't forget that.
-
Oct 4, 2015Enjoyable game for those who appreciate the genre (platformer+roguelike). This title can provide some good hours of mindless fun, don't expect a deep story. It can feel a bit too grindy at times.
The gamplay is not bad, but sadly the graphic/sound departments are pretty weak and that brings down my score. Rogue Legacy is not bad, but could have been better. I'm looking forward for the next title. -
Aug 8, 2015I know a lot of people saying this is the King of Rougelikes, while others say this is a **** stain on the highly regarded Rougelike genre. And unfortunately, my opinion falls in the latter statement. Clunky controls, bland levels, and the worst jump arc/jump delay I've ever seen in any videogame. This feels less like a Rougelike and more like a ****ty Metroid-Vania port.

May 26, 2015Pros:
Very rewarding
Challenging
New every time (rogue-like)
Cons:
Later in the game when you unlock more characters, you'll have trouble playing a character class that you like
The persistent items (but not spells) aren't that interesting -

May 3, 2015Fast and fun, on top of that hard to leave XD. This game is one of the best examples of 2D games and manages to reach levels of fun you would have got only with the Ghost and Goblins games! One of the best purchases ever made!
-
Mar 12, 2015Brilliant little gem of a game. However you need to put the time in to reap the rewards. Get through an hour of gaming and it will all make sense. Highly addictive and very fun.

Aug 13, 2014I first played this game a few months ago and didn't like it at all, but only because I suck at platformers. Later I was convinced to give it another try, and woah if it blew my mind. Rogue Legacy is the Dark Souls of platformers: once you get used to its dying and rebirth routine you'll spend hours with it and love the sense of progression. A fantastic game.
-
Jul 29, 2014Such a unique game. Controls are solid, level design is great albeit difficult, and the aspect of learning from death makes it a really fun experience.
-
Jul 14, 2014Rogue Legacy is a great new take on a Metroidvania style game. It's a roguelike but you get to use your gold and loot to purchase and unlock persistent upgrades across all your characters (makes it much more fun than the normal roguelike in my opinion). A very challenging game with really solid gameplay.

Jul 6, 2014Rouge Legacy does everything Megaman with more variance. The constant change in weapons, characters, and skills require consistent adjustment of playstyle with each life. The heir continue system is a unique approach that keeps this platforming powerhouse fresh. Could not be happier. Full review later.

Jun 13, 2014Great difficulty curve. Great 2D side scroller game play. Very addicting. Doesn't do anything terribly original, (otehr than inherited traits which are fun, but not really game defining) but it nails the addicting rogue like formula. Very easy to get sucked in.

Mar 9, 2014Game is OK but it is basically TOO HARD to be enjoyable. This is made worse by the way the map resets after each death. With each death accumulated (money) progress is lost so the game basically wastes your time by denying any progress. You might die 20-30 times before you luck-out and get enough money to get an upgrade. Don't waste your time with this garbage.

Feb 26, 2014Excellent game, very very enjoyable, I'm not a fan of rogue type games, but this one did a great job at being a bit random with tons of twists, it was easy to get very addicted to it, wanting to upgrade mansion fully and get all the things, I very much enjoyed all the time I've spent playing this!

"One more and I stop"… no way, impossible Love this game. -
Dec 27, 2013A great game, with an incredible adictive gameplay.
80 hours gameplay, If you want to unlock everything. A excellent character progression system, a fun sense of humor.
With the last update, the new remixed bosses, the new achievements, the game turns into a very hard challenge. Hardcore players will be satisfied.
The only bad point, we need more variety of enemies! -

Dec 22, 2013Full fledged rogue game ie a twitch game for masochists.
Don't let the "legacy" fool you it's not any bit more accessible then a traditional rogue game.
Some sort of 2D dark souls that I wasted money on. -

Nov 16, 2013Note: my true vote should be 6.5/10 but Metacritic doesn't permit that, so I give it a "6".
Rogue Legacy is an addictive rogue-like game, but its lack of variety makes it boring quickly. The controls aren't extremely reactive and the gameplay isn't enough deep. Could have been better, but if you love the extremely hard games, you'll appreciate it. VIRTUALINN.IT -

Aug 26, 2013An easy to play, hard to master game. A funny and entertaining platformer. Combines multiple niche genres, albeit not all of them unique, for some fresh and enjoyable gameplay.

Aug 17, 2013Nothing to talk, it's Roger Galaxy. Only Brazilian people will understand, anyway, the game is awesome and you can play with your friends or brother/sister. The boss battles are fun and the game has a huge sense o humor.

Aug 5, 2013Play Spelunky instead. This game is not very good. How well you do depends 90% on the amount of upgrades and items you have collected in previous lives. It starts off impossible and gets easier over time. That is the opposite of how a game should be. They should start fairly easy and get harder once you beat the easier levels.
-
Aug 5, 2013Fascinating!
Nice Graphics, good Gameplay, cool ...diseases? Really Fascinating at all!
I will have to play this game for a long time "with a few issues" -

Oct 16, 2013Roguelike games have become increasingly popular of late and it’s great to see one which rewards you for all the time spent by allowing a form of character progression. It’s mitigated to a point by having you lose all your money before entering a castle and each purchased bonus makes all the others more expensive.
