    Interesting idea and that's basically where the good things about this game end . Few characters are kinda good but the ending is the most disappointing thing I saw since DeathLoop and that is an achievement in itself. Waste of time and money, if you wanna play for the plot and there is NO GAMEPLAY, so don't look for that in this game either, also it looks extremely bad like early ps3 bad.

    Game done very well, I love the cartoon style graphics and the soundtracks are great.
    Only thing I can say, some choices always lead to the same conclusion but otherwise amazing

    The idea for this game is super interesting. The execution is way below the bare minimum. I am so thankful I did not spend any money playing this game, as it wouldn't even be worth the time I put into it. I would be embarrassed to have spent money.

    Narrative games like this need excellent writing and story. This game has NEITHER. The writing is cringey at every part. I don't know if there was a piece of genuine-feeling dialogue in the entire game. Each character is a mere trope, with no exceptions. You do not get attached to ANY character in the entire game. There was not one character I looked forward to interacting with again, with some characters causing me to try to exit the interaction immediately. A perfect example is Alex, the "genius" kid. I struggle to name a worse character in any form of media, and that says a lot especially since this game is narrative-based. So embarrassing that this was greenlit.

    Even worse was the story. Stories in games like this can carry poorly-written dialogue (though it must really be good to get over this bad of dialogue). Here, the story caused me to roll my eyes constantly. Without spoiling, the premise of the story is "big bad government versus 'liberal' political rivals in an election, and the story is told through following teens trying to escape through the border." The execution is incredibly bad with no depth to either side. The villains are surface level with absolutely no depth at all as they are presented as evil for no reason at all, and the "heroes" are presented as perfectly good with the only negatives turning out to be conspiracy theories by the big bad. The ending is one of the worst parts, as it seems that no matter your choices, "good" wins in the end. In my playthrough, the incumbents were safely in the lead, but then the finale was a voiceover saying that the rivals ended up beating them and making change. I couldn't imagine a worse ending.

    The writing is embarrassing. Save your money and time. Not worth it even if free.

    The gameplay is fine. It is to be expected from games like this, nothing bad, nothing special.

    Первое что бросается в глаза это очень плохая оптимизация, моя 2080 сделала тройной Аксель с переподвыподвертом запуская второй уровень, при том что там графика хуже чем в лайф ин стрендж,

    If you love interactive game, then you should buy this game. The concept is interesting. The game is not very long, but it's very highly re-playable. The only disadvantage is the models, there are not so many, so you will see a lot of same people, but it's not that annoying.

    The general logic of the game is actually very simple; move forward, interact with the environment, but do not forget the importance of this interaction and your choices. No matter how simple the mission designs are, each mission has been thought through, has an important place in the story and has been designed in such a way that it will not repeat the other. The graphics are calm in their own way, the harmony of the music with the atmosphere. The basis of this simple experience that we wanted to experience was solid.

    The story and side characters were pretty good in my opinion, I won't comment much on that until I see the next game.

    To be brief, it is a game that will keep your belly up until the next visual novel comes out after the firewatch game. All you have to do is take a sip of your coffee and put these memories behind you in order. Good games.    … Expand

    This game made me really live the story with the characters and experience all kind of emotions. Art style is really good, soundtracks are good and whole vibe of the game is just really relaxing and the message of the game really hit me. Лукашенко или Тихановская? "Иллюзорная" Стабильность или Перемены?
    Добро пожаловать в типичную диктатуру, типо Беларуси или России, это первая сильно "политическая" игра, в которую я играл и это ОЧЕНЬ КРУТО!!Немного политики можно встретить только в играх серии "Метро", там немного поднимается тема коррупции, причём многие сразу думают, что тут продвигается какая-то Западная повестка про мигрантов или угнетённые расы, но про второе тут вообще ничего нет, а про первое сомнительно, в любом случае тут игра больше продвигает идеи "демократии" против диктатуры и президентов, которые сидят по 20 лет и в хорошей концовке вы можете привести игру к тому, что люди не захотят сбежать из страны, поэтому это не тоже самое, что было в Life is Strange 2. Не вижу ничего плохого в такой политике в играх и только очень благодарен разрабам за это и очень уважаю их. Но даже абстрагируясь от политики в игре очень интересный геймплей, твои персонажи тут могут умереть или их могут арестовать, очень классная атмосфера с хорошей музыкой, интересная система выживания, да, в игре очень многие вещи немного копируются из других игр, тот же Life is strange (Похожая атмосфера и персонаж Зои), игра не привносит прям чего-то уникального и прорывного в плане геймплей для видеоигр, но она является шедевриальным миксом.

    Мне кажется, что это станет для меня игрой года 2021, сомневаюсь, что что-то выйдет лучше для меня. Но моя оценка 8.5/10. Всё-таки есть нюансы, например, я перепрошёл игру 3 раза (кстати, за 1 прохождение вам точно не выпадут все катсцены, так что не забудьте потом ещё поиграть в "Новую игру+) и я понял, что ваши выборы не особо на что-то влияют, повлиять могут сильно только на концовку, но она не достаточно мощная, чтобы я поставил игре 9 или 10, да и изменится у вас может только 1 строчка в словах рассказчика, но тем не менее это самая реиграбельная сингловая игра для меня, сами истории персонажей неплохие и дарят много незабываемых эмоциональных моментов, второй раз игру проходил вообще мой друг через мой комп по remote play, так что вы можете проходить одновременно с друзьями и делиться впечатлениями, у кого как сложилась история, да даже просто сидеть смотреть, как проходит друг 8-9 часов где-то мне было интересно. Ещё кстати вспомнил небольшой минус, что головолмки в игре слишком лёгкие, прям детские, там надо не знаю кем быть, чтоб не решить) Ну, я надеюсь, что будет сиквел, Road 24, типо к 2024 году и там разрабы уже добьют до 9,5-10. Ещё соундтрек просто хороший, где-то на 7.5/10, лучшими я считаю треки "Home Call" и "Election Day", но у композиторов явно есть потенциал.    … Expand

    A politically biased walking simulator with "choices n consequences" and terrible performance for the kind of graphics it has. Reminds you of any other game? Because to me this is starting to feel like indie game 101.
    The concept of traveling cross country is good tough, and could be done much, much better.

    You can't tell the distance of anyone by the audio, everything plays as if they were just next to you.

    This game by my standards could be a game of the year for me. I immediately got hooked on his stories and choices, and the randomness of meeting characters had an impact on the choices I could make, and if I didn't meet these characters in a specific order, I didn't have the choice available! I love it!

    Enjoyable game with Life is Strange graphic vibes and chill soundtrack. Unfortunatelly you often can't really decide what to do as it ends always leads to the same thing. Still an unique experience with a long playtime. :-)

Я смерюсь с условностью что каждый персонаж рассказывает первому встреченному подростку о своей жизни, планах иИгра невероятно атмосфера, музыка прекрасна как и сеттинг гиперболизированного диктаторского государства.     - Я собираюсь мстить за то что ты погубила родного человека.
    - Но я не убивала его я пыталась помочь.
    - Тогда я не буду тебя убивать.

Each "episode" in this overarching story presents the player with a new teenager to guide to freedom and a variety of scenarios that see them interacting with recurring characters who have their own objectives and backstories. Through dialog choices and various gameplay gimmicks, the player will uncover more about the characters around them and the nation of Petria itself.
    First, there’s the presentation. The game has a simplified graphical style similar to games like “Life is Strange” or “Firewatch”. The vibrant colors and stylized designs give the game a solid visual identity reminiscent of comic books. Recurring characters are thoughtfully designed but NPC’s tend to be made of a handful of recycled assets. The visuals are complimented by a soundtrack that dips into synthwave and 80’s dance music, with a handful of pared down acoustic tracks to ground the player.
    Next, the gameplay loop is more comparable to a strategy game like The Oregon Trail than a cinematic narrative game from the likes of Telltale or Quantic Dream. Players go through a series of vignettes where they do all manner of odd activities like mixing drinks, playing air hockey, pumping gas, rewiring a generator, hiding from police, etc. all while managing their energy levels and money. For instance, hitchhiking and walking may be free, but they also drain your energy faster than forking over the money for a cab or bus ticket. All these factors contribute to how the character ends their story – by escaping to freedom, being arrested by the authorities, or by dying. Whatever way each teen’s road trip ends, your inclinations toward revolution, changing the system, or simply escaping also influence the overarching story’s conclusion toward one of three major endings.
    Unfortunately, the writing is probably the weakest point of the game. A story about growing up and escaping political tension has so much potential for nuanced writing but “Road 96” falls short in that regard. With a few exceptions, the different factions feel one-dimensional. The conflict boils down to one group being in favor of the tyrannical president, another group trying to bring down said president by force, and another group (seemingly unrepresented at all aside from the player) trying to change the system by voting in a new president. It creates a disconnect between the player and the world they are supposedly influencing, particularly if they decide not to take part in the politics at all. And yet despite the vagueness of the story, its similarity to recent American history is too on-the-nose to miss, with references to “fake news” and border walls. All this to say that while it is serviceable and fun to play, the narrative is admittedly shallow.
    Despite these shortcomings, “Road 96” is a memorable game that oozes personality even when the more schlocky writing threatens to dampen its potential. The music, the visuals, and the character interactions can more than make up for it. Sitting with a character while they open up about a tragedy in their past or climbing the peak of a mountain atop a grand electronic score sells the simultaneously fantastical and profound feelings the game aims for. Long story short, it is a game that is well worth the $20 considering how replayable it is.    … Expand

The mechanics if you can even call them that are pretty basic and there is not a lot of things to do with them , the game is incredibly easy especially when you learn lockpicking which makes the choices in the game very easy since there are barely any negative consequences. Story had a pretty decent start and an alright middle but for me the ending was pretty sappy ,predictable and boring and the choices you make in the entire game have zero consequences (well almost zero some minor I guess). I would've actually preferred it if we followed a long journey of a single hitchhiker and the characters he meets while trying to survive and with more (way more) polished mechanics. The soundtrack was pretty good and the voice acting was also well for the most part. I still think the game is worth the decent price of 20 bucks.… Expand

Демка выглядела топово, но я думал что это вырванный из контекста кусок игры и в полной игре пояснят за мир и почему президент плохой, но этого не происходит. Игра просто говорит: Он плохой, потому чтоОтвратно прописанный мир, где непонятно что происходит и зачем тебе бежать.     Me resultó un juego muy original en su narrativa. En cada partida la historia va cambiando según tus decisiones y es interesante ver las distintas posibilidades que eso trae, conocer nuevos personajes, lugares y situaciones. Muy rejugable y punto especial para la música, muy buena.

    good little game. i liked it. the dialogue choices doesn't change a lot the consequence except some radical ones. it is worth to play for 7 hours and half to fil a half day

    GREAT story, good cartoon graphics, great music, great concept.

    Fun plot, haven't played any game this fun for a very very long time.

    Few FPS drops, happens only when inside buildings and such, doesn't effect almost anything, happens 0.5/10 of the times.

    I enjoy this game so so much, 9.5/10.
    Don't understand how people are giving it less than 6.

    The game offers a wide variety of mini-games, all of them fun and rewarding to complete. Moreover, the main characters are fantastically characterized, giving a unique depth to the story.

    However, not everything is perfect in this title. Some textures are too pixelated, even at high details. This aspect is particularly evident as the game is in first-person, especially the terrain textures. Also, the game can be a bit too "linear," in the sense that the choices you make in dialogues often lead to a predictable outcome. Finally, the final part of the path is always the same and, although there are variations in time, blocks, and characters, the path remains essentially the same. I would have preferred the game to be divided into more "zones" to create greater variety.

    In conclusion, Road 96 is a title that has excited me a lot, and the positives outweigh the negatives. After playing this title, I can't wait to see what the developer has in store for the future.    … Expand

    I honestly enjoyed the game. It's a very simple game yet it is a very quick game to complete. There are many paths to be explored and different outcomes to all but it does get very repetitive the longer you play

    I played this game last year on game pass, and I loved it. It definitely helped me at a kind of low point. My only complaint is that this game was begging to have an actual protagonist, whether they be voiced or silent protagonist.     Developer Digixart has crafted a thoughtful look at what it’s like to live in tumultuous circumstances, and how it can affect people emotionally. It’s sadly prescient of the world we actually live in, and maybe that’s why Road 96’s message of survival and perseverance make the impact it does, at least the first time around.
