-
Jun 7, 2013A gritty, brutal WWII shooter that uses its scale, setting, and fidelity to great effect.
-
Jun 3, 2013This time the battle takes us out of the cold Stalingrad to the warm islands of the South Pacific. With few changes, but as addictive as Red Orchestra 2, Raising Storm continues to be one of the best multiplayer games out there.
-
Jul 11, 2013Probably one of the best online FPS games with a WWII setting. This stand-alone expansion of Red Orchestra 2 is a must buy for fans of online shooters.
-
Games Master UKJun 26, 2013The maps are devastatingly effective. [Aug 2013, p.74]
-
Jun 20, 2013A challenging, rewarding and addictive World War II multiplayer. A hardcore FPS with a strategic and slow paced on-line that can even compete with high budget titles.
-
Jun 7, 2013Rising Storm improves the formula of Red Orchestra 2 with convincing asymmetrical gameplay and outstanding maps. More than enough to deserve the attention of FPS lovers.
-
Jun 28, 2013At the end of the day, Rising Storm occupies an interesting niche. It’s a solid game, loaded with a lot of detail, replay value, and was clearly created by a skillful team and community that really loves the Red Orchestra style of team-oriented competitive multiplayer.
-
Jun 27, 2013Well-designed maps, two dramatically different sides in the Americans and Japanese, and authentic feeling weapons make Red Orchestra 2: Rising Storm an excellent and unique-feeling first-person shooter.
-
Jun 24, 2013If you loved Red Orchestra 2, you have no reason to avoid Rising Storm.
-
Jul 5, 2013Quotation Forthcoming.
-
Aug 9, 2013Rising Storm may not be as intuitive as other similar titles or contain an extensive amount of content, yet it provides one of the more intensive and brutal multiplayer experiences on the market today.
-
Jul 12, 2013This is refreshingly different from run of the mill action like Call of Duty. Even after the engine update it isn’t pretty, but what it lacks in beauty it makes up for with striking realism and a tense atmosphere.
-
Jul 9, 2013While there is a bit of a learning curve – you're likely to spend your first few games getting instantly killed by cunning unseen enemies – it's worth persevering with. The realistic aspects to the game like bleeding, and quick death by bullet, give it a unique feel among the majority of today's shooters.
-
Jul 3, 2013Rising Storm brings no shame on Red Orchestra 2. Quite the opposite, it strengthens its position as a multiplayer shooter game. The game's atmosphere, graphics, Japanese banzai attacks, and American weaponry along with balanced maps will get you. You will not find a better adapted battlefield of the Pacific War.
-
Jun 25, 2013Rising Storm has started off on the right foot by being offered for free to owners of Red Orchestra 2, and this helps solidify the feeling of being an expansion. To be honest though, it’s not a bad thing. Rising Storm changes just enough with the new weapons, new maps to explore, and new mechanics such as the ability to create traps with grenades.
-
Jun 24, 2013Developer Tripwire has joined forces with the modding community to provide us with this stand alone multiplayer expansion to Red Orchestra 2. It perfects the realistic shooter and offers an interesting setting with Asia. Whoever's done with the Call of Duty's and Battlefields has a very impressive, yet sometimes frustrating, alternative with Rising Storm.
-
Jun 6, 2013Rising Storm is a very special brand of shooter, not that you'd expect any less from Tripwire Interactive. The pacific setting gives the trusty Red Orchestra gameplay a fresh coat of paint and the game does a good job in keeping a good balance between American and Japanese forces, which could have easily been skewed against the latter. Instead, Rising Storm shows very well that it's not always down to who's got the bigger guns at their disposal.
-
Jun 19, 2013There are way too many small annoyances that should have been polished before the release, but fans of hardcore multiplayer shooters will definitely enjoy Rising Storm as it is.
-
Jun 7, 2013Rising Storm needs a bit more polishing and a few more updates to really shine, but as it stands it's an excellent escape for old-school FPS fans. If you were a hardcore fan of Heroes of Stalingrad, this is basically an expansion in the Pacific with more gameplay you know and love.

CD-ActionJul 2, 2013I expected something close to Battlefield but Rising Storm is far more demanding. It’s been a while since I cursed so much while playing an online shooter. With every round I was telling myself it’s enough, but I kept coming back to get my butt kicked again. Try it – you might enjoy it too. [CD-Action 08/2013, p.73]
