    Some good ideas with garbage AI and almost every game mechanics handed over to RNG. You can try and balance this out with a myriad of settings, but at full price this is simply not a great game. It is an amazing time-waster however, and many giving this glowing praise have are rationalizing this to equate to having fun. Most of Rimworld is grind, not fun. The only real fun is to religiously study all the mechanics with countless hours of reading wikis, then beat the game with RNG set to "melt my face off", so you can run to the Internet (Reddit) to brag about how ultra hardcore you are.… Expand

    I like this type of game but just couldn't get into it, I think because of the juvenile and unappealing graphics. I wish someone could come up with a graphics mod I like, because I still think that underneath the surface is a good game. Switched to Dwarf Fortress instead.

    Very good game with a lot of replayability but the dev seems to have abandoned it, so no more improvement for the basic game only dlc expansions

    The game has an obtuse and unintuitive ai management system. It leads to frustrating situations. It leads to unintuitive slippery slope situations. The game's difficulty cannot be surmounted without significant frustration. It isn't intuitive enough.

    The diversity of environments significantly enriches the game and challenges experienced players in new conditions every time. It’s a hellishly good game – for me an addiction that makes me go back to it and reach for more and more. [13/2018, p.84]

    A satisfying colony-building sandbox with a lot of replayability that suffers from a lack of polish in the UI. A great aesthetic and quirky sci-fi take on the genre mean there is a lot to like here, it just takes a little digging to get there.
