    There may be an audience for this game made up of hardcore fans of the point and click genre, but it’s not anything that the majority of us can’t live without.

    Rhem, a world of puzzles.

    This basically sums this game up. Just like Neverhood is made out of clay, the mysterious world of Rhem is made    Rhem, a world of puzzles.

    This basically sums this game up. Just like Neverhood is made out of clay, the mysterious world of Rhem is made of puzzles. It is an upside and a downside at the same time, because while the puzzles are really interesting and fun to solve, there really isn't much more to this game than countless amounts of puzzles. And regardless of how cleverly designed they can be from time to time, unfortunately they alone can't really carry this game. After completing one area of Rhem and progressing further just to discover even larger area with even more puzzles, I found myself installing Myst III just to have something nice to look at. And that's the main problem with Rhem: it literally offers nothing more than puzzles, while games like Myst (even the first one) and Neverhood offer so much more. In Myst games if you didn't feel like solving puzzles right off the bat you could always just explore and look at your surroundings . In Rhem you can't do that unless you enjoy looking at countless pipes, switches and drawings meant to serve as clues to puzzles. And while we're comparing, let's just say that Rhem's puzzles... aren't subtle at all. It's clear that whoever created this world wanted it to be made of puzzles. And that's ok if you're willing to accept that Rhem is literally a puzzle world.

    So, if I were to score this game as a whole, I would say 6/10, but for some reason I can't give it anything less than 7/10. This game is a heaven for a Myst fan. You won't get so many fun puzzles in any other Myst "clone" (well, maybe besides Neverhood). If I were to score Rhem only for it's puzzles, I would say 9, maybe even something close to 10 out of 10. Unfortunately the game doesn't offer any kind of other media that would make the experience rise to it's full potential.    … Full Review »

The puzzles are not ingenious as other reviews have said but just obscure and boring and copies of puzzles in other games. How many times do we have to press switches or buttons? Can't puzzles be more sophisticated or subtle than that? Really if anything RHEM seems to suffer from a lack of imagination. The graphics are poor, low res, and grainy. The FMV takes up 1/3 of the screen. The intro proudly proclaims the game was written with macromedia - well guys that's nothing to boast about, in fact you should apologise. Frankly macromedia just isn't powerful enough to run a full commercial game.… Full Review »
