    Despite the banal gameplay mechanics, Reigns is a great little game that will keep you engaged for hours. Nerial is another studio proving that minimalism can go hand in hand with great gameplay.

    Reigns is a Python-esque text adventure rougelike played out with the swipe-mechanics of Tinder. If that sounds at all appealing, then Reigns is absolutely worth the small investment. Light and undemanding, it offers short, great bursts of play perfect for the mobile platform.

    For a game that’s so simple, Reigns is very easy to get absorbed in. Your kingdom evolves in a much more subtle way than your traditional management sim, but also in a more meaningful way. While there’s a lack of variety in cards that tend to crop up, there’s also enough depth and variety in general to keep you going for quite some time.

    Reigns provides hours of entertainment for a cheap price. Presenting more of a balancing act than a moral dilemma, it can be equally as satisfying as it is frustrating at times. One thing it always does, though, is it keeps players interested.

    Reigns is shrewd and playful, with a straightforward interface and a handful of terrific twists thrown in for good measure. Whenever things risk getting too stale, a new event or set of cards can turn up to keep one hooked, and a single playthrough won’t uncover all the secrets, as well as the ways to meet some grisly fate.

    Reigns is definitely meant for a touch screen, but the PC version plays okay. Press the left/right arrow once to view the selection and again to confirm your choice. But choose wisely, as the game reflects real life in at least one way by not providing an undo button.

    Reigns is fresh, fun and unique, ideal for short gaming sessions (particularly on mobile), and worth its price.

    Reigns offers a pretty, innovative and charming diversion, then, but don’t let yourself care too deeply about what actually happens, or the charm will give way to frustration fast.

    First things first, Reigns is made for mobile and, frankly, it shows. You’ve almost certainly got a smartphone or a tablet, so put the PC version out of your mind and go buy it from the App Store or Google Play instead. If you absolutely must play it on PC then, sure, it works, because of what it’s trying to do at heart rather than because it’s been tailor-made for our computers.

    Reigns is a good game, but there are some flaws. The lack of cards in general make you alway see the same cards, which frankly become quiteReigns is a good game, but there are some flaws. The lack of cards in general make you alway see the same cards, which frankly become quite boring. I have come to the point where I just spam yes and hope to see a special event.

    But otherwise, it is a original and funny game that is '' acceptable '' compared to the price. I'd recommend it for a bored person, but not for a person searching serious gameplay.    … Full Review »
