Reigns’ devilishly simplistic game of Tinder-like kingdom management feels just as inventive now as it did in 2015, but Reigns: Her Majesty fixes some of its more poorly considered design choices while also putting a refreshing spin on the challenge you face by casting you as a (very powerful) woman in a man’s world. The king is dead. Long live the queen!

It’s a terrific sequel with its own personality that still leverages the fun, minimalistic mechanics.

At last: royalty I feel emotionally invested in! Reigns: Her Majesty is a smart and surprising extension of the original swipe-'em narrative game.

Fun monarch simulator that's almost too witty. [Issue#196, p.89]

After the first, unforgettable chapter, the new Reigns: Her Majesty adds some intriguing gameplay dynamics and a really spot on political subtext. Extremely funny and immediate to play, both on PC and mobile.

Reign: Her Majesty is a simple game mechanically, but don't let that fool you. Your decisions are not always easy, and the consequences for bad decisions are often fatal. Tread lightly, My Queen, tread lightly indeed!

Reigns: Her Majesty is a solid sequel and one of the most funny games of this year. The game is ridiculously cheap, so you don't need to think twice before picking it up.

Reigns: Her Majesty is a terrific sequel that manages to top the original thanks to a few fun additions that add more strategy, a colorful cast that keeps things light-hearted, and an improved and captivating story that makes great use of its premise. And all of this is without having to sacrifice any of the innovative management gameplay that made the original a hit. It’s a quirky and enjoyable game that can easily eat of a good chunk of time before you know it, so long live this particular queen indeed!

Reigns: Her Majesty manages to defy a lot of your expectations, and will keep adding more surprising cards into its deck as you play.

The wry, self-aware writing remains Nerial’s strong suit, uplifting the gameplay and drawing players in until they, like the game’s protagonist, are eagerly reliving lives over and over again.

Reigns: Her Majesty has some really fun, quirky and dark writing and you’re sure to find yourself giggling unexpectedly at times. It’s the perfect game for travel to and from work or when you’re sitting on your own personal throne if you get my drift.

Though the game still can feel repetitive, it is much easier to get involved with the main story than in the original game. New characters and storylines keep the game refreshing, but it is essentially more of the same. Perhaps the main reason to give Reigns: Her Majesty a fair shot is the increased social commentary aspects of the title, which I found intriguing and humorous at times.

Reigns: Her Majesty is a solid sequel if you enjoyed the original, but it suffers from many of the same issues such as repetition, being at the mercy of the deck, and not really offering role playing choice but rather making you micromanage happiness meters. The low price point helps offset some of the annoyances, though.

Her Majesty isn’t one of those stories about women that’s meant to empower them by showing a rise out of adversity. It’s more a fun friend, laughing with you about all the irritating little things that happen to you when you’re a woman that other people sometimes don’t believe.

Her Majesty is the ideal sequel. It takes what was already a smart premise, and adds to it sparingly, but cleverly. Playing as a queen offers more tough decisions to make, and more interesting places to explore. It’s a lot more fun — even if it means more dying.

Pretty good. Actually, you are a simple queen and you try not to die with the choices you choose. Although the story repeats itselfPretty good. Actually, you are a simple queen and you try not to die with the choices you choose. Although the story repeats itself occasionally, it is still a very good game. Full Review »
