Regalia Of men and Monarchs is the indie trpg gem of the year.
i finish it on normal and just started it again on hard difficulty
pro ; + well written + voice acting + solid trpg experience + humour + good difficulty level; easy normal or hard as it should be + lot of characters with their own personality what wrong with the game ; nothing imo except the bugs that were patched

TL;DR: Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs seemed to be a decent pickup at first, but after a while it turned out that under a crunchy crust it's pretty half-baked.

Regalia represents one of my favourite genres - the tactical RPGs. Maybe that is why I had very high hopes for this title. Unfortunately, the game didn't quite come through. Pros: + it is very pretty and voice acting is quite

    Pros:
+ it is very pretty and voice acting is quite decent
+ the castle-building and relationship-developing parts are fun
+ there's some charm to the characters and their dialogues, there's some comedy, some witty remarks, it reminds me a little of Disgaea, which is great, but...

    Cons:
    - ...the story is so tedious I felt no drive whatsoever to find out what happens next. The premise is uninteresting and so is the development of the story. Frankly, the story seemed like just an excuse for grinding out gold, EXP and items. Unfortunately, that's the style of a low-level jRPGs.
    - combat pacing is dreadful. Everything is so slow. And I don't mean the movement of the characters (which you can change with one click), but the pacing overall. Each battle takes around 10-15 minutes to complete, and believe me - it's 5-10 minutes too long. Our heroes and their adversaries exchange never-ending blows, which makes combat a drag. This is important as fighting will take around 50% of game time.
    - the tactical side isn't particularly interesting either. Our heroes powers don't really give us a lot to go on, and very often it's just about which party can outlast the other (literally, healing - or rather armoring up - seems almost too important). There is very little room for improvisation.

All in all Regalia is an ok game, but not much more. If you're a die hard fan of tactical RPGs, and you're looking for a pearl in the likes of Final Fantasy Tactics or Jeanne D'Arc from PSP, you might be disappointed. If you're just looking for any tactical game with a lighter side to it, you might just hit the paydirt.

A pretty rpg that has a good amount of content ,its well written and is fun
But the story is bad to the point that i just didn't care about it anymore and in long play sessions the game is just very boring
But overall great for its price that i recommend for rpg fans that want an rpg to keep up for weeks

Unfortunately I cannot, in good conscious, recommend this game. The main protagonist has no agency, everything that happens in the game happens to him and not because of him, 95% of decisions are made up by side characters or villains or whoever is there. The combat is fine, I was looking for a simple yet fun Tactical RPG and this is somewhat of what I was looking for, the beginning will be hard and seems unfair but after awhile tou get the jist and is ok, problem is that even with not a lot of characters at the grid, fights take loooong to finish, still good variety of objetives.
All of this could be forgot if the story and how it is handled were good, and they are not... The story is simple and have the necessary requirements to make you invested the problem is how the objectives of the game tie the story.
The first chapter will give you a list of objectives in different areas like, clearing dungeons, raising level of the party, fishing, crafting, etc, and there is big list with a whole bunch of them and no real order. This is supposed to be like you making money to pay loans, after 5 objectives under the time limit, and you are fine.... problem is, ALL THE CHAPTERS HAVE THE SAME SYSTEM OF 5 OBJETIVES(later7) UNDER A TIME LIMIT, IT FEELS LIKE YOU ARE STUCK IN CHAPTER 1 FOREVER DOING THE SAME THINGS 6 TIMES ON THE SAME AMOUNT OF INTERVAL BETWEEN THEM.
That is what makes not recommend, if you can ignore this, try it.

Great game. High quality, beautiful hand drawn graphics, well balanced difficulty level and funny story. Really looking forward for Regalia 2 (if it gets announced).

Story? Generic but inspired. (Fanfic with a budget)
Art and voice: Reasonable, and snarky.
Gameplay: .... it exists, it just sucks. Until you 'fix' it. As someone who has beaten FFT, ogre battle, Shin Megami Tensei devil summoner, Ni no kuni 2, eiyu senki, blah blah.. you get the point. I went into this expecting normal to be disappointing and I would raise the difficulty after

I went into this expecting normal to be disappointing and I would raise the difficulty after getting a feel for the game.
I was given 2 characters against a few 'normal' rats and a super rat for the first battle. I missed twice. I died before turn 10. on normal difficulty.

    On normal. First battle.

SO! Alright, if I'm at the mercy of the RNG and I cant actually use 'tactics' to win the very first battle in the game.. because 2 guys versus twice as many enemies and one 'boss'?
Well, your tactical game sucks, sir.

You 'brute forced' me. On normal. And I really ONLY play strategy games, so... your tactical game sucks, sir.
However! I understand your position on this, and after reading the steam boards.. you actually patched the game a few times because your audience told you the truth ~ your tactical game sucks, sir.
So you can go to the options menu and set the sliders to 'actually normal difficulty' with a bit of experimentation. At that point, you can win a few battles and start rebuilding the kingdom.

BUT! After doing some social stuff, some dungeon stuff and moving the story along.. you start getting OP buffs/perks! The game gets too easy or rather, HIGHLY unbalanced rather quick, if you happen to rebuild or work on the right things.

So is it a good game? No. But do yourself a favor and give yourself a hand via the difficulty sliders.
There is no 'difficulty' to speak of, seeing as how you cant heal. You cant 'position' yourself, tactically.
You CAN spam shields and fight the weakest enemies first.
    Fix your mistakes, pixelated milk.

I had a blast playing Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs despite some of its shortcomings. With amusing characters, a relatable story, solid combat, fantastic music and voice acting, and meaningful choices, it's definitely worth checking out. I look forward to seeing Pixelated Milk's next project!

An interesting mix of role-playing and management games.

Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs is a good tactical RPG if you've got the time, but not if you're looking for a meaty storyline.
