The enthustiasts of this game will try tot ell you that by 'Dark' I actually mean 'Gritty, atmospheric, WW2-Esque', no, I mean dark, I honestly couldn't see a thing, enemy's are constantly ot of reach and everybody wears the exact same uniform, so you can never be sure if you have spotted an enemy or not. They'll tell you that the game does not lag and that I must have a poor connection. I am running a 10mb download conn and I have a pretty good pc, the load times are horrendous and the graphics are so poor yet it still lagged. They'll try to say that when I say it's 'boring' I am being unsophisticated and very uncouth, but I am not, the maps are badly designed. There's nothing wrong with them being so big but you should always have something to do, some sort of challenge, I don't consider travelling for minutes on foot then dying at the end and having to do it all over again. As I said you ahrdly ever see the enemy. The guns are clunky and slow, you don't ever feel in control, the models lack any dexterity. The keys are mapped poorly, the class sytem is done poorly, hell even the sound is average at best. For me this game seems to be one which will have a very strong tight knit community but it will also be very small and very hardcore. A bit like the online community of Swat 3 or other cult games. I would steer well clear, the learning curve is extremely steep and you never feel dangerous ingame due to the stupidly high recoil of the guns and the fact that you can never see the enemy. Poor effort, poor game. Expand

This game sucked, the only fun thing about it was killing team mates. Tanks are totally outranked as the nazis are nearly impossible to destroy, and every time someone wins a battle you have to wait forever for the new round to load.

What a sorry excuse for a game. Even if I could look past the sorry excuse for a graphics engine there is not a single original idea. I've never played a game that I couldnt give at least an hour to prove itself fun and entertaining till now.

Need a T1 line to download this game. I bought the game in circuit city. CD doesn't have the game on it. You have to download 2GB to get it with "steam". I've been trying to download it for 6hours with no luck. Its stuck at 69% and keeps saying servers to busy.

I'm giving this a 7 simply because the map load times are WAY, WAY too long and the graphic seems always seem dark to me...Not sure why but ti always seem more difficult than usual to find my target! It's no "Brothers In Arms" for sure...Where that series has graphics nailed down supperbly as well as the combat I'm giving this a 7 simply because the map load times are WAY, WAY too long and the graphic seems always seem dark to me...Not sure why but ti always seem more difficult than usual to find my target! Other than a few annoying aspects, mainly the load times, this still remains an interesting game. I can see why the "arcade" people don't like it...This is like comparing checkers and chess. A game similar to BF1942, but realistic. The game itself is good to look at without the usual over the top emphasis on graphical goodies like amazing shadows. The first time i crawled behind enemy lines and got a couple of kills left me very satisfied. A extremely good game, good support and a commited community.

This game is one of the most realistic WWII fps ive ever played. The Models are very clean and well textured. The only downside to this game that i see is the lack of ingame video options such as anti-aliasing and the vision quality while playing the game. I play this game constantly. Difficult to get good, but at the same time new players can still kill veterans. This is NOT a typical fps. "Run and Gun" style players will get quickly frustrated by RO's realism, intensity, and tendency to reward tactics and teamwork over 1337 skillz, which is exactly why the rest of us love it. Once you pay your dues and learn how the game works (HINT: READ THE MANUAL!), you may find yourself addicted. I don't care if I ever play with crosshairs again.

It's ok if you like Battlefield. Many do :-) But you may forget it forever as I did if you try ROOST for some days. You may find its graphics disapointing, the community of players too small, and surprisingly difficult in the beggining, but, after some days, I bet you may be as addicted as I am now.

It's funny how all the people giving this game a bad review say the graphics are prehistoric, what a crock of shit that is. They need to open their eyes, because it uses the 2004 Unreal Engine. Despite not having the absolute best next gen graphics, RO destroys other games like DOD:S, Flashpoint, AA, COD, and BF2 combined! The reason for this is very simple. Unlike other games, RO (in multiplayer) is not your run of the mill linear run and gun arcade style game. This is because of the extreme realism, which is the cornerstone of RO. Although many of you complain that this game is too slow, this is another realistic aspect that I enjoy. This slowness is due to the huge size of some of the maps, as well as the realistic time it takes to get in and out of prone, and using iron sites. Because of this, and the realism, you have to take cover behind objects, provide cover fire, use stealth, and out flank your enemy. This is why it seems so slow, because you must find the enemy and employ certain tactics in order to defeat him. Another great aspect of this is that it builds up the kind of suspense you would have in a war, as you try to anticipate the enemy's next move. Because of this, I wouldn't consider this game slow paced, as the game speed very is realistic. You can not run and gun in this game, because -unlike other games - it takes tactical thinking to win. What makes this more enjoyable is that its not a game you can start playing and become an instant God at: it has a sharper learning curve than most other games I've played. Strategy also plays a large role in combination with team work. Although it's not 100% essential, I can say it will ALWAYS gaurantee victory. Mics are very good to have too. Seeing how it is indeed a shooter game, Tripwire really brings in full-control. Aspects like leaning, bipods for MGs, 3D iron sight (no 2D cross hairs), a health system that only shows where you get hurt. My favorite is something new that I've never seen before in a game: depending on how you're set up in a position, you can rest your gun on any kind of ledge for better support/accuracy while shooting. Something I find myself doing quite often in airsoft. So all in all, buy it! This very second! Expand

About the technical problems, i must say i bought the game via Steam and had no problems whatsoever to install and run it. One quick passage on the forum of the french community and i could also shorten a good bit the loading time thanks to some very easy modifications.
