Awesome game. Game of the year easily. It brings the horrors of war to your PC. It can be terrifying when you see a tank and its turret turns towards you. Looks fantastic with a modified Unreal 3 engine. So much amazing detail. Tank battles are so much fun.

An amazing WW2 experience, even with occasional frame drops I can still play it for the time being but it's immensely fun. Rifles feel great, hard but satisfying. I love the way teamwork is portrayed too.

Awesome game, can be a little tough when you first start, especially if you are used to a more "run 'n' gun" style of first-person shooters, but once you learn to slow down a little, and not rush into buildings etc. like a loony you will start raking in the kills. Killing is so very satisfying too, especially with a bolt-action rifle from 200m+, it gives me a little semi on.

If you liked games like the first Red Orchestra, ArmA series, or even games like Bad Company/CoD (hardcore mode), then you should love this game. If you can actually aim, you should love this game. If you are super cool (like me), you should also love this game.

I am not really into the whole WW2 thing, I prefer modern or futuristic weapons in games, but gee whizz this game is so much fun, sometimes I can even feel my heart beating and it makes me feel like a normal boy, along with my semi on.

A long time RO1 player and a huge fan of the series, so had high expectations. It has some bugs, and it isn't perfect, but the game itself is excellent. Already announced FREE DLC to come. Also two mod teams already hard at work to bring the Pacific and Vietnam versions to life. The future for this game is as bright as ever.

RO2 is an awesome ww2 multiplayer shooter, that is slower paced and more tactical than your average online fps. It also has some fantastic ballistics/gun mechanics.

But I know Tripwire won't let this game die. They are 20 guys working against the clock to bring their vision to life and they won't rest until it's working without major flaws.
Killing Floor and RO1 had many bugs on launch date and now they are completely playable.
I'd also like to point out that BF: BC2 had a non functional server browser on launch.

I'd say that the game easily deserves an 8 out of 10 in its current state. I'd also like to point out that it's 23.99 in many places (or 29.99-35.99 in others) which is a lot less than 49.99 (standard price for PC games).

It brings the genre back to it's 2000-2005 roots to the WW2 era, and merges it with today's technology to provide an authentic, immersive, beautiful experience. This game plays differently than your popular shooters like Call of Duty and Halo, so it's not for everyone. It's definitely catered to a more hardcore audience than most mainstream titles, but still offers game modes for gamers with all tastes. The combat in this game is fast paced, but realistic. There are minimal hud elements, like no crosshairs for instance. Weapon aiming is quite unique, too. Weapons don't shoot in the center of the screen, but rather the weapon moves with the mouse until you get closer to the edge of the screen, when your camera will shift. For anyone who's played the Arma series, the aiming is similar to that. Weapon and bullet physics are also very realistic. Firing SMGs in more than 4-5 round bursts will make it impossible to hit a target further than 40-50 meters away. The game also features a full ballistics simulation. Bullet drop and travel time must be taken into account when shooting.

The game features HUGE maps with up to 64 players. The vehicles in the game feature full 3d-modeled interiors, where players must realistically navigate the inside of the vehicle to move to each position. No more instantly teleporting from the driver seat to the machine gunner seat, for instance. Vehicles also feature realistic damage models. You can take out a tank's engine by hitting it with an armor piercing round, or even kill the gunner with a well placed shot to the gunner's seat, rendering the tank useless until another player takes over the position.

The graphics and sound design are all top notch in this game. The performance was a little shaky in the beta, but in just two weeks time they have greatly improved framerates and reduced lag. Red Orchestra 2 is a must have for anyone who is a fan of first person shooters who want a more authentic experience than mainstream shooters will give you. It is a game that game developers should take notes on when designing games in the future. Tripwire Interactive put a lot of hard work with limited resources into this game, and the result is something extraordinary.

A good game either admits it's a game and only includes realistic things as an afterthought after it's gotten all the fun stuff finished, or it doesn't admit it's a game and immerses you. Don't tell Red Orchestra 2 that it's a game. It is the very end of a spectrum. It's a window into WWII-era Russia you can only look through on your computer.

Yes the game crashes from time to time and on lower end PCs with low memory will crash more often than that. Yes sometimes your view occasionally flip out. Your bullets occasionally do not count. There's a plethora of UI bugs Etc etc. That doesn't matter. The game even in its "not quite done but here you can play anyways" state is absolutely fantastic. This is by far THE most realistic yet inviting first person shooter in every respect and steps up and improves greatly in its mechanics over the original Red Orchestra. Tripwire isn't EA. They don't ship the game and call it done and already stated that it's not done, there's more to add, and you'll get more (not even considering community content). But the ship date came around (after 5 years in development!) and this is what they have. Enjoy it. It's a multiplayer game, so enjoy its strengths, and enjoy the new bar for PC games. Expand

Basically this is a realistic shooter which has a nice learning curve. You will die, and die a lot...but this is not paintball, its war...and it feels like it. That is this games crowning achievement, make you feel like your in a dirty war with death all around you. Sounds are amazing and really pull you in. Graphics are good, and game-play is spot on(if you like this type of slower pace battles). 64 player servers are truly epic as well and pull you into this is war even more. There are a few bugs on release which can be a pain. But then again almost all games do so Im not about to give it a zero because of it. I believe tripwire has a great track record of fixing these things so I'm just taking off a point for that. Bottom line your either this type of player or not. "hit detection all over" (realistic bullet drop!)

I enjoyed how the mechanics worked in the single player campaign. The mechanics, without giving anything away, allow for full immersion into the perspective of a soldier, where: you are terrified, you are going to think tactically, and you are going to struggle to capture a location. Tripwire also did a wonderful job with making the game only cost around $30 if you already owned Red Orchestra 1 in the pre-order, and then $40 as the normal game's cost. The polygon counts are high, the game is beautiful, the combat features are vast and plentiful, the game has girth to it that every other FPS seems to lack. Expand

Now, with the newest updates the game runs smoothly without any problems and/or bugs. It's one of the most atmospheric FPS Shooter besides STALKER series.
The singleplayer campaign it's not very shiny, but the multiplayer is absolutely stunning. The graphics are really good and well optimized as well as the sound which adds more points to the atmosphere.

Moving on, I have to say this game is a truly inspirational FPS and all big hitters out there should look up to this in terms of gameplay. The realism is incredible and they have really concentrated on detail, you are really immersed into the game, it really does feel like your in a WWII battle - this is easily one of the hottest games out there and I think it will attract more of a mature audience. It's really nice to see how Tripwire are thinking of us, PC gamers and have developed it purely off a PC format as oppose to console. Any WWII fans out there will really love this game and at a low price tag should not hesitate in buying this - this game is absolutely awesome :) 10/10 - 100%... BUY IT! Expand

Not for the faint at heart. Steep learning curve, but if realism and the horrors of war are your cup of tea, then HoS is a game for you. I stay with one map until I feel I have mastered the nooks and carnies of all the best hiding places. This game will last me for a long time without gamer burnout. Outstanding job TripWire. Can't wait for new material to be included.

I love the great atmosphere, that is much harsher than in other FPS. This is because of the unique mixture of realism, sounds of explosions, dying and wounded comrades, the suppression mechanics, WWII typical graphics etc.- I think this is as close as a current computer game can get to real war experience.

The atmosphere is great, you wince and duck as you hear and feel the bullets fly past you or strike home! After a successful couple of rounds as team commander barking orders, leading charges and calling artillery I was mentally drained as if I had done a hard days work (could just be getting old :) ) , which is a great feeling to get from a game. Staying alive seems to matter more to me in this game than any other fps. The game does have a steep learning curve, but it is worth the effort, one has to learn how each weapon operates to know how to use it to maximum effect. The game is a little more COD player friendly that its predecessor, however its definitely for more mature gamers.
Yes the game has bugs and crashes, however its still very early days and a raft of patches have been released and more to follow I don't doubt. Plus I can only count on one hand the number of games that have been released bug free on the PC in the last 5 years, unfortunately this is how the PC game development has been heading for the last few years, so no one should be surprised by this. For those prefer RO1, well I'm certain that mod's and game tweeks are just around the corner, RO1 was not perfect when released. Currently the weakest multi-player part of RO2 is the tank maps, the tanks do not feel quite right yet and the map is dull, once again though its only a matter of time before new updates and content will be released to address. Please don't buy this game for single player mode as this is just the multi-player maps with bots just like practice mode in RO1 but with story cut scenes between maps. This does not bother me as I never buy FPS for single player mode as they are generally scripted like a film and like shooting fish in a barrel (COD for example). So this game is not for every one, but for those that are into the history of WW2, who are mature, patient and willing to learn, this game is a gem.

Though it is true that it was a little unplayable on release day, by now almost all of the bugs (for me at least) are gone. I still hear of others having them, but it has really smoothed out and the speed of this refinement is quite impressive, making me like the developers even more. On the merits of the game, it is indeed a niche game. If you think COD is in anyway even representative of how a battlefield should look like, don't even bother. But if you want to experience the terror of bullets whizzing by and the fear that the next one may kill you or it could pass by and you live on, then this game is for you. This feeling of being in the soldier's head is highly rewarding and adds a new level to the game. The gameplay itself does have its downsides as it can be extremely frustrating to charge across the battlefield only to get picked off by one shot. Or to be stalking a man in your sights for 5 minutes, only to have him find you and pick you off at 200m. This, though frustrating, is what makes the game great, as it gives an excellent feel for realism (of course it's still a video game) and it makes actually getting a kill that much more rewarding.

The graphics aren't too impressive, if you crank them up to high (they start on low) it looks okay, but that's really not what this game is about, it is about intense gameplay, not thrilling graphics and killer action.

The controls are pretty standard, though it is noticeable how usable the mounted weapons as they act freely with the environment, letting you move around and change positions without having to unmount then remount. Instead your character just drags his gun into position, remounting when you're in the right spot. Though this sounds trivial, it makes using machine guns much easier and is of course more realistic as firing a light machine from the shoulder or the hip is extremely hard. There are so many other little things that give this game so much depth. Some other examples are the 3D sniper scopes, the actually usable cover system, the having to climb to different positions in a tank to replace a dead man, and much, much more.

So, in summary, if you want a soft, easy game to play, this probably isn't it. However, if you have any interest in WWII history and want to feel a more realistic FPS, then you perfectly fit the niche for this superb, though still slightly bugged game.

Red Orchestra 2 is one of the most innovative and atmospheric FPS games of the past two years. In a market dominated by testosterone pumped macho men saving the world Red Orchestra 2 takes a step back into the harsh reality of World War 2.
The individual player cannot win a war by his self. To succeed one is going to need to coordinate with your team, however this doesn't go without saying that player skill is still quite valuable. Completing objectives and working with the team nets XP, which is used to level up your honor. As the player levels up, his character becomes visibly more grizzled. Weapons also level up, and they do so individually. Through the different levels a weapon will gradually become more clean, and eventually the standard issue version of the weapon. Levelling a class or weapon will even increase certain stats such as suppression resistance, accuracy, stamina, and other significant factors in fighting. These stat increases aren't overpowering or unbalanced as they don't directly increase factors such as damage, instead they indirectly aid the player in accomplishing his or her goals. The entire stat system contributes in making everything you do rewarding. Firefights in Red Orchestra 2 are intense and satisfying experiences. Sound design, the breathing system, and damage modelling collaborate to turn gunfights into strategic encounters requiring both fast reflexes and smart tactics. It is possible to hit various organs inside an enemy's body as the game has in-depth damage modelling. A shot in the heart is an instant kill whereas a shot in the gut will take some time to bleed out. When a player is shot he can apply a bandage which negates all of the effects of being shot. There is a limited number of two bandages per life so the player will have to take care to avoid being shot. Aiming is drastically different from most first person shooters. The weapon in your hands is not glued to the center of the screen, but instead it moves with your mouse. Weapons also collide with in-game geometry such as walls and fences which adds a nice touch of immersion to the experience. A third person shooter inspired cover system is also implemented, but in a first person perspective. When taking cover a player can blindfire from cover or pop out and fire much like in the typical third person shooter, however it is quite different as you are not aware of where the enemy is until you pop out of cover. This system works very well and is essential for winning a firefight.
The atmosphere in this game is unprecedented. Teammates around the player constantly say context sensitive lines about the current situation, and in some cases another player's character will reply. Suppression also ties into this as a character under fire will inform his team that he is pinned down. When a player dies it is usually accompanied with the character calling for his mother or even horrific gurgling noises; there was many a time that I was almost saddened by killing the enemy in front of me. In culmination the character lines, gritty art direction, and environments within the game depict the horrors of war in a very effective manner.
Though it had a rough launch, Red Orchestra 2 managed to enthrall me with its many features and depth filled gameplay. Don't let those who can't over look some technical flaws in this game fool you, this is well worth the money and then some. Thirty dollars for this game is almost undercutting the developers with the effort and attention to detail they put into the game, and I would happily more for this masterpiece. Even the so-called 'triple A titles' can't live up to the work of art that is Red Orchestra 2, and I doubt that they ever will.

What a refreshing breath of fresh air in an otherwise faded and boring genre. So many shooters today do the same freaking thing you would think that one company made them all. Tripwire Interactive listened to both player and industry criticism, and responded by creating 2 entirely new modes of experiencing the game, the classic mode for Ostfront players, and the action mode for industry critics who believed the game to be inaccessible to casual players. Additionally, the vast majority of bugs in the game, which the community assisted in identifying, have been resolved. For the vast majority of players, the game is technically excellent. There is a control interface which players can manipulate a variety of graphic factors from a Low to Ultra setting. This allows players to manipulate the graphic template of the game to suit their particular processing speeds & allowances. Such visual effects (but not limited to) of artillery exploding, destructible surfaces, bullet cracks, and suppression effects-- are all amazing. As gameplay is concerned; Heroes of Stalingrad, similar to the first game in the Red Orchestra (RO) franchise, Red Orchestra: Ostfront, is a challenging, difficult game. It is a game where one bullet kills characters. It is a game where the character becomes tired, or suppressed by enemy gunfire, or despondent. It is a game where your weapon may sway, or that you need to brace your weapon for an accurate shot. It is a game where one minute, you may be assaulting a postion, and the next, running for your life away from it. It's a game where players use bayonets & rifle butts to kill each other in close combat, is not uncommon. There are many ways to play the game. There is a character progression system from Raw Recruit up to the Hero class, and there are many different specialties such as sniper marksmen, or squad leader, to progress as. Players become more proficient a number of attributes with progression. Success on the battlefield depends on one side or the other occupying objective areas, or 'cap zones', and characters who participate in team-oriented play by taking these 'cap zones' are rewarded with points used in their progression. Red Orchestra: Heroes of Stalingrad, is an intensely satisfying game experience. It's also a very demanding one. Heroes of Stalingrad is the best WWII tactical FPS on the market. To be a member of the Heroes of Stalingrad community is to be one of the Few & the Proud of the gaming elite. Expand

This game is not Battlefield 3. This game sells itself on its realism. I will say that it is not quite as realistic at the first Red Orchestra, yet still more realistic than any other WW2 FPS currently out. I got this game for under 5 bucks and it was probably the best investment I've made in a long, long time. Most of the issues that people are complaining about from when the game was released have been ironed out. The graphics look great when maxed out and the game play experience is very smooth. If you have a quad core processor and mid range video card you wont have problem maxing out this game at all. Red Orchestra 2 is also constantly being updated, with new maps and game types added from both the developers and the user community. I noticed many people complaining about the campaign. This game is not at all meant to be a single player experience. Sure, you can go in and play the single player campaign, but it's really just a bunch of bots running around. This game never sold itself as a single player experience and to be quite honest, if your playing this game for that experience you must be new to PC gaming. Noobs will struggle to find a groove at first, but one thing that really helps new guys is really just stay alive. The kills will come and you'll be loving every second of it. Another issue that I see people complaining about is the HUD and the voice acting. The HUD is simple and can be simplified even more, creating a very immersive experience. Also, you can set the games audio to use the nations native languages (German and Russian) rather than your own team speaking English and the opposite speaking their native tongue. This helps to create an even more immersive experience in my opinion. On another note, the sound in the game is quite good. 5.1 surround sound is a fantastic experience when paired up with this game. Overall, this game was a great buy, as I've gotten over 80 hours of gameplay for under 5 bucks and I have no plans to stop anytime soon. Must have for realism FPS fans. Expand

The graphics are fantastic, sound is great, and the shooting feels literally perfect. Buy rising storm because it gives you all of this master piece's multiplayer.

To answer all of those: yes. I recommend absolutely you give it your all. This to me, is the best an ArmA style game can ever get. I enjoy these types of realistic games, this one is basically dirt cheap and is as timeless as Call of Duty: World at War or Medal of Honor: Allied Assault if you still even play the latter lol.

For something of its price, literally below 5 Euro/US bucks? MORE Than worth it. You get: Pacific AND Stalingrad multiplayer campaigns, with populated servers 24/7, a very engaging and addictive leveling system for your guns and character, I just love it so much.

Buy it. Whack at it for like hours, take your time. I swear you'll enjoy it. 10/10, absolutely perfect.

Simply one of the best tactical shooters out there, emphasis on teamwork is core though individual skill with the class you are using is essential, not a fast paced arcade shooter like more renowned BF and CoD, but this is what makes it gripping, for the good and bad moments.

RO2 / RS is one of few FPS games with the genre WWII, which is still being regularly updated by the developers. But the gore and the realistic bullet ballistics / 1 shot = 1 kill is splendid. Some reviews here tells the reader that the game doesn't fullfill the promise of realism, well they must have accidentally played on servers without ''Realism''-mode.
The game is a truly unique game and feels like Battlefield 1942 but with a more gory and dark atmosphere.
    +/-:
    + 64 player servers
    + In-game VOIP
    + Different Soldier Classes
+ Not hundreds of different weapons, with thousands of different accessories.
+ As close you can come a realistic WWII game with ''Realism''-game mode: 1 deadly bullet = 1 kill.
+ Continued development. (New maps, new weapons, new vehicles)
+ Doesn't require a specific level to get to play with the class you want and the weapon you wishes for.
    + Dedicated servers.
+ Earn upgrades to your weapons when you kill enough enemies to level up your weapon.
    - Not as popular as other FPS-games, needs more PR? It's sad to see a great FPS game have less players than a free2play game as War Thunder with it's 3000 players online.
    - Countdown, if you don't cap the next capture zone within a few minutes, then a clock starts ticking down.
    - Arad2, what can I say. It's not a successful or popular map with it's large open area and mostly tanks.
    Not so much else.

This game is flawless when it forces people to work together, and puts your shooter skills to the test. I like it very much, the fact that you don't have people spawning where ever they please quick scoping and firing from the hip like it's no trouble. The game was simply not designed to accommodate people who can't handle difficulty. There is absolutley no other way to describe the game other than the fact you can have it extremely realistic or play it like CoD, but in the end this game is a sure buy. And i have to admit, my favorite thing about this game has to be the sway of the gun, there is no pathetic easy no scope, you either have to be lucky or just keep shooting until a bullet hits if aiming from the hip. I cant tell you how many times i have ran out of ammo with no time to reload and hiding behind a door watching Germans poor in to kill me and as soon as they see me! STAB, my bayonet sticks into them just for 2 more Germans to rush in and fight me up close and personel. Just buy the game and you will know what i mean. And if the bugs are discouraging you from buying it, know that they ironed out the game so its almost perfect now besides a few graphical glitches and stupid A.I. lol. But in all honesty i have 26 hours played and i still am craving to jump on and see what happens next. Pros:Intense action, strategic gameplay, Teamwork

Cons: Multiplayer lag, only 2 tanks, some maps have horrible designs to benefit snipers to an extremely high amount, NO MEDICS.

Conclusion:Instant buy, grab a friend to play wih you, be my meat shield when you buy the game so i can get close enough to throw some C4 on those Panzer IV tanks :p

That being stated, RO2 has plenty of problems in terms of bugs, single player campaign, and overall stability at times. Don't expect the single player campaign to enthrall you and make you replay over and over. It is the least memorable part of the game. So where does this game shine? It shines in its multiplayer atmosphere. Unlike other FPS games, teams must work together to take objectives or take out their opponent. Keeping in mind that the game is about realism is key to survival. A run-and-gun game seen in other FPS games will only get you killed faster in RO2. In short, I recommend this game to fans of real FPS games and are sick of the yearly cardboard cut out from other companies. However, keep in mind that there might be a huge learning curve depending on your skill level and that bugs are to be expected. However, once use to the game mechanics and style, you'll quickly fall in love with this forgotten gem. Expand

Maybe if more money and time had been applied to the graphics, it would be getting better reviews. But because it requires a more thoughtful approach, and rewards teamwork much more than twitchy reflexes, it is probably not a game that will satisfy the gaming hordes anyway. And maybe that's a good thing. I am so thankful it has not been dumbed down from the original for a mass audience.

On that level, I can only say that I have faith that Tripwire will work to optimize their game for all PCs that meet the recommended settings.

That said, the game itself is excellent. In terms of realism it puts any other World War II shooter to shame. The rifles are a bit too accurate it seems, but they are immensely satisfying to use. The cover system is well-designed for the most part, and very impressive to see in a multiplayer FPS.

I could do with some adjustments to the rules- it seems that every single game ends with the arbitrary capture of a point instead of the death of a soldier. The game could really use a "sudden death" for the defenders in Countdown and Territories so that the defenders get a chance to retaliate when their last point is taken by the enemy. It also seems that maps without attackers or defenders are decided by an arbitrary time limit, which is annoying.

Still, I feel like this is a worthy alternative to the COD and Battefield franchises. Now if only it would run well...

The gunplay and firefights feel very physical. Having a keen eye and cultivated marksmanship skills are important aspects of not only your own survival, but that of your team as well. Kills are satisfying and feel well deserved.

This is a game for the patient and tactical player. It heavily favors someone who can recognize the best route to maneuver and achieve the superior position. This is for those who want to 'play war' in the most literal sense. The most deadly weapon is not a bullet, but teamwork.

At the time of release there are still some bugs remaining that I would classify as 'minor, momentary annoyance'-type, as opposed to glaring flaws. Tripwire has a reputation for superb post-release support,
free content updates plus very active communication with the community, and we will see if that continues to be true. I believe it will.

The graphics are very good but are not pushing the envelope. The textures are very high resolution; the models, props and structures are all modeled in a realistic fashion. The depth of field effects are good; subtle but present, not overdone. Extensive in-game graphics options help widen the range of hardware that can run it well and provide those with high-end hardware the means to get more out of their system.
Relatively easy config editing is also possible for very specific video/audio/gameplay tweaks.

The audio is one of the most impressive parts of 'Red Orchestra 2: Heroes of Stalingrad's repertoire. The positional audio is not just immersive, but vital to your situational awareness. Distant sounds are appropriately dampened, close sounds are easy to locate. All sounds are realistically effected by the environment.

'Red Orchestra 2' is THE game to get if you want: realistic weapon handling, realistic and complex wounding, emphasis on teamwork, strategy and skill, fully detailed and functional tank interiors, realistic tank armor and armament modeling and more..

This is NOT the game to get if you are looking for an easy-going casual shooter. "Run and gun" is not the name of the game (but can still be effective if you have surprise). Just one shot will kill you most of the time and you won't find any aids like crosshairs.

If you are looking for the things RO2 has to offer, it might just be one of the most innovative and brilliant shooters ever.

After having about 60 hours in Beta and 6 or so on retail (Pretty much the same), I can safely say I have a good understanding of the game. I'm gonna keep this review short and to the point in a hope to let people know what the game is like.

    My specs - i7 @ 3.5, 260core216OC, 6 gigs, win7.

    -- The Good --

Graphics - 9 - Better than BC2 by far, but no where close as other PC specific titles. They have a very distinct feel stripped strait from the time period the game takes place in. The mood is dark and gritty as it should be and often times you will stop in combat to look at how much detail went into making each individual room look unique and authentic. For example I found a cellar on a map and it was detailed to the point of RPG type levels. I almost wanted to sit down at the desk and read the book near the lamp that gave off a nice warm glow while forgetting a battle for life and death was going on outside.

The lighting is probably the strong point with this game. Shadows are actual shadows and theirs no avoiding having to squint to figure out if that silhouette is an enemy in that dark corner.

After tweaking settings I'm able to get a stable 45+ with my rig and theirs no mouse lag like in other games even if you played at 30.

Game play - 9 - What else can be said about the game play other than it's as close to war as you might want to get. Each individual map supports new strategy when engaging your enemies whether that be close range or from a distance. You must master the class you pick in order to survive in the conditions presented to you and often times failure can be as exciting as victory. Choose the assault class and you need to be somewhat run and gun clearing out rooms and generally getting into the face of your enemy. Choose a class with bolt action and you're deadly at mid/high ranges and able to do deadly melee attacks with a bayonet if needed. Picking Support classes that use either MG's or Anti tank weaponry and you can now see how the strategy of the game unfolds. Nothing will ever be as fun as blowing up a tank who has killed 10 of your buddy's with some charges carefully placed as you run for cover.

Gun play is a huge selling point for this game and it shows. Weapons act just like they would in life, and the addition of free weapon movement and weapon collision with objects gives you a sense of depth other shooters don't have.

    - Sound -8- Not much to say other than it's good. Weapons seem a little week especially the MG and Mp40, but bolt action rifles sound amazing and blow your ears off. I don't really know much about weapon sounds but I suspect they do so I won't go into detail on this.

    - The Bad -

The game still crashes out for most people I know. I have experienced it many times myself but so far none since retail release (Crosses Fingers). Their are also many other bugs reported and people are generally having FPS issues on beast rigs.

Artillery strikes will end your good FPS until they subside. Good thing I'm hiding at that point anyways, but sometimes the frame stutter when it happens can ruin a combat situation.

Cover system while good in most situations can also get you killed. Once you learn how to work it however it becomes a valuable addition to your tactics (Blind firing around corners has saved me many times).

    The verdict?

It may not be everyone cup of tea, but by no means is this a "Bad" game. People may have issues with the bugs and performance but the core game play is rock solid and is easily one of the best shooters I have played in years.

The multiplayer of Red Orchestra 2 offers various interesting debate points about the realistic online shooter breed: praised by many, played by few. Forgetting some bugs and the (hopefully) soon to be addressed performance hiccups, Red Orchestra 2 is definitely an entertaining product that, online-wise, will guarantee months of brutal fun.
