Raji was an interesting game. The story explain Hindu deities and such. The visual are really nice, especially the quality of the level designs. The music is enjoyable and some of the best in my opinion. The fighting is not that precise and rely a bit too much on pirouettes. There is a lack of balance between enemies. The levels are amazing but there isn't much to do in them, and I feltRaji was an interesting game. The story explain Hindu deities and such. I thoroughly enjoyed this debut entry from Nodding Heads Games.

Whilst the gameplay was not groundbreaking and on occasion could be repetitive this was saved by the fantastic presentation and interesting and unique setting. I can't think of a single other game that has explored this rich mythology. The gameplay is a reminiscent of old school Prince of Persia, but with a Diablo style

The gameplay is a reminiscent of old school Prince of Persia, but with a Diablo style combat. The combat and platforming is a little clunky but still enjoyable.

Visually I thought the game was stunning, the environments where excellent and the enemies pulled from the Mythology were interesting. I also thought that the "Cut Scene" storytelling through the shadow puppet displays was also really interesting.

Look forward to what this team produce next.

Generally speaking I like the effort. For me to really enjoy it it would have needed to have some exploration/non-linearity and better combat (I really don't like the pc controls). I don't get why people complain about the graphics, they are pretty good for an indie game.

I got this game after reading the reviews, but now I feel like most of them are paid reviews. The gameplay could have been better. Also, clunky controls and combat had really put me off.

This game is very different than the others. They really try something but they didn't effort for the mechanics, bugs etc.

Brothers - A Tale of Two Sons, 6.5/10

Incredible storytelling in a beautiful environment coupled with stylish combat, Raji is an eye-opening adventure backed with a Hindu mythology backdrop. A surprisingly brilliant release by an indie company based out of India.

There are plenty of movement features in this game that brings it in line with modern action-adventure games, and the variety of attacks gives you the opportunity to fight however you wish. The game is linear, but the world and environment is a picturesque sight to see. Fights can get a bit repetitive, but that's just how it is. Game performance is fair, although the prerendered CGI cutscenes were strangely more GPU-intensive than the game itself.

Overall, for an indie, I found the experience quite enjoyable. Lots of work was put into fleshing out the mythology and educating the player about it in an intriguing and not forceful manner. It was definitely a unique experience to learn about it, and I think it blended quite well with the story and gameplay. The game was short (under four hours), but it felt like it lasted twice that time (in a good way).

(On a side note, I've read some reviews about the controls being clunky. I personally did not experience any issues whatsoever playing the game with a controller, so if it bothers you, try playing the game that way instead.)

Raji is set in a rarely explored (and therefore refreshing) setting of Hindu mythology that definitely works in its favor, and offers gameplay mechanics resembling a Prince of Persia game on a budget. The protagonist is as agile as Price and the game is generally enjoyable, but the platforming sections are too easy to pose a challenge, and the combat is not meaty enough to be satisfying. On tips of your fingers there is Raji slicing her way through the demons hordes of the hindu myths under the striking imaginery of Indian paintings. Time in this game is well spent. [Issue#308]

Raji: An Ancient Epic can offer you some scenic locations, plenty of platforming, and a rather boring combat system. The main selling point here is not Raji herself, but the godlike beings, telling the tales of the Indian mythology, heavily intertwined with with the game's overall storyline.
