Mirage is a title that takes some getting used to, but once the player gets over the initial hump, there is a stylish spectacle hack and slash here the fans of the genre will surely enjoy.

If you can overcome the technical shortcomings, impenetrable plot, and the game overstaying its welcome (the last couple of hours drag on), you’ll find a well-crafted game.

Deep and satisfying, Blood Rain Chronicles: Mirage is a valid alternative to Muramasa, ranking itself as a really interesting action game.

Rain Blood Chronicles: Mirage probably isn't going to stick with you as a cherished experience, but it's a competently designed combo slasher with a fair bit going for it. Players who like their 2D hack n' slash combat fast and accurate should be satisfied.

RainBlood Chronicles: Mirage is a good Muramasa clone with some flaws. It offer two different characters, a well done combat system and a good replayability.

Genuine unintentional hilarity like this is rare in games, and it’s worth experiencing. Maybe not at the asking price, but if you see this in a steam sale, snap it up and have a good laugh.

We're both having a great time playing! I like the graphics and the action is pretty awesome. I like that you can tag team out on the fly. I still feel like there's a lot of secrets to discover. Two thumbs up!! Full Review »

As a fan of hack-n-slash (and for a 33% discount on an inexpensive game), I bought this one

I'm totally satisfied. The drawing quality is great, and attacking stuff was awesome. The music is good, I think it synergizes well with what is happening
You can play with 2 different characters, and change during stages. Each has a unique style of combat, so you will probably like one more than the other
The story isn't "omg, that's so creative and awesome", but it has a bit of mystery at first, so I'll continue playing to know everything. Voice acting is just average, what doesn't help the story feel more interesting

In the end, I think it's worth buying. The game flows well and it's fast-paced. Not a big variety of combos, but it's ok for 2D. The price is just right for it

This game is a prime example of modern day Hack n' Slash

Pros: Your attacks feel very powerful with both characters ++Shang can block with floating swords and use them to extend combos as well. you can esentially find ways to hit everyone one screen easily or air combo with many hits. ++Soul has very fast or very powerful attacks covering great distances. He can't block but can do short teleports which can later be seemlessly intertwined with his other attacks.
+ The leveling in the game has a rich crafting/level/skill tree 3 currencies exp (each character has their own), silver, gold. By doing very flash combos with counters, KF moves, and supers you can get an S ranking and as long as you keep it you get gold which can buy every other currency which adds flexibility.
+The art is very beautiful most of the time
+lots of interesting and flashy characters
    +the boss fights are insane.

    Cons:
-There is alot of cut scenes with narration but it feels like there is no story. Or at least the story is hard to follow something about a martial world and warring factions the 'cabal', the org, and Mirage. Characters sort of come from no where and say cryptic things about conspircies. Maybe I should read more of the info at jade's eye but there is so much and the translations are not quite right.
    - That being said in the last game the translations feel like they were done by google translate or someting. For Example the first mini boss talks and is titled "Sword Zealot" but when you fight him he is called "Sword Addict".
-Some of the animations don't have alot of frames but with how fast paced anime styled the game is that makes sense.
-The levels can last pretty long. This is still fun but I wish you could save and load at check points after minibosses or something it feels like your force to play the game in 35 minute increments.

Thats all I can really think of to describe this game. Hope you find this helpful
