Quantum Break is a pretty awesome and fun game, if you see it purely from a story and gameplay view and ignore all the small (but really annoying) bugs like the bad optimization for PC (low fps, stuttering, random freezing/crashing). However, I'm willing to look past it because they decided that they were gonna bring this game to PC instead of being just an Xbox One exclusive (I was almost tempted to get an Xbox One just to play this game). The graphics look really nice and i wish I could play at Ultra but currently I'm only stuck at low :( because of my rig (GTX770) with resolution of 1080p. The frame rate is certainly not the best and it does sometimes freeze my computer. But the cinematics, graphics, story, gameplay are all top-notch.
    Cons:
    - If your comp isn't up to recommended, you might have low frame rates, freezing crashing issues etc
    - Jumping is a bit annoying in this game, kinda clunky (like Alan Wake)
    - Real-life episodes streaming relies on your internet speed. And even though it's just a video, it sometimes have low fps like in game
    - Getting skill points requires you to look for special thingies to gain a skill point, would've preferred a level up system instead and have that as an optional thing
    - Starting a new game apparently wipes EVERYTHING
    Pros:
    - Loving the gameplay, the powers, the shooting, everything.
    - The real life episodes are really nice to have. You can even go back and watch them again
    - The story is pretty damn interesting. You might get confused because of all the time travel stuff though
    - It has Aidan Gillen (Petyr Baelish AKA Littlefinger from Game of Thrones) in it! xD (my personal pro)
    - The graphics are really pretty, if your comp can handle it
    - You can go back to any previous acts/parts to go and find the stuff that you missed
    - You can go back to any previous acts/parts to change your decision and watch what happens
BTW, just a tip for you if you're planning to buy the game from Windows store (which is the only way you can buy it for PC), you can change your region (search region in your windows) and get a cheaper price for the game. I switched my region from my country (Malaysia) to another country (Thailand) and the price went from 250$ to 190$ (rough estimate).

The game could've used a few more polishes here and there. The story, of time shifting, it's interesting, never saw it, or played a game before where it was used, as i've said earlier, i'm no pro gamer to try and finish all the games.

The movies are a tad long, and could have been chopped a little bit, and some game time inserted here and there.

The graphics unfortunately, Microsoft will have to do a better job next time, and take Ubi's recent releases, as an example, related to graphics, i'm being indulgent this time with the remarks, and the score, but the optimizations are not of an AAA game, and neither are the graphics, it's very clear that the game was though and built for XBOX, and then ported to Win10, probably as an experiment or something. The Win10 availability isn't a problem for me, i have to admit it was a bold move, but so was ROTTR, built for consoles, adapted and ported for pc game play, and that was a masterpiece, so no excuse here, as it had no predecessors, to learn from past mistakes.

As a last note, the game is really worth around 15-20 Eur at most, at it's current stage.

Don't get me wrong, i love ACS, ROTTR, and they are worth every penny, but hate ACU,the graphics were ok, but the gameplay was ****

Quantum Break starts slowly and with a hint of mystery and steadily builds in both story tension and pace over the course of the entire game.

The visuals are great at 60fps if you have a machine that can max it out. Thats not to say its perfect as there are still kinks that need to be worked out with dx12 and the uwp platform but overall the game is no slouch. I ran it on a 290x paired with a 5820k and 16 gigs of ddr4 without any issue. Im quite confident remedy will be updating the pc version in the near future to further improve the visuals as well but people need to understand dx12 is new and older hardware will struggle especially older nvidia hardware and cpus that have less than 4 cores AND CANT multi thread. the sound design and vocal performances are also phenomenal. Gameplay is also absolutely on point. Alan Wake was somewhat of a let down in the gameplay dept as it never evolved over time (no pun intended) but Quantum Break keeps changing as you move forward. You gain new abilities and you level up those abilities.

There is tons of story in this game. Finding emails or objects not only add to the in game story and fill in some history and motivations they also alter the live action scenes you watch so not everyone will see the same thing every time. How much of the story and what story you get are entirely up to you.

These story objects are easily tracked in the menu and you can go back to any point in the game to find something you missed or do something in a different way.

Overall a fantastic game that I can see myself playing multiple times. I rated the xbox version a 9 and knocked a point off on pc because of the current lack of visual options however i believe that will change soon. I also believe alot of people are scoring it too low on visuals and performance because they have issues running it. Its very likely those issues are their own machines and not the games. Again currebt nvidia hardware struggles with dx12 and amd doesnt. Alot of gamers are also running core i5's which cant multithread abd dx12 relies on as many fast threads as possible. Thats where its performance gains lie so be aware of that fact when buying.

If your pc is up to snuff you will have no issues and the game will look good and run fantastic.

The main selling point of the game, IMHO, is the story. Simply put, it is excellent, and I think it is one of Remedy's best works yet. It is about time travelling - a topic which is extremely difficult to write a good plot about. Yet, they pulled it off. Not without hitches and some plot holes, mind you, but they are not major, and overall everything boils down to a very coherent and competent story that can very well be on par with the best works of fiction of this genre in other media. I am very picky about my time travel movies, but this game hit all the right notes with me. The only thing that bothered me was the ending: it wrapped up most story arcs quite well, but left some questions unanswered hinting at a possible sequel. Knowing how that ended for Alan Wake, I would prefer they did not do that. Although I would absolutely love to see a Quantum Break 2.

The gameplay was fun as well - overall shooting and using your special powers in action sequences was a blast. Although there were not as many gun fights as I expected. Also, no slow-motion, Max Payne style, which is weird considering the theme of the game - basically you can freeze time only locally by creating a time bubble in certain spots. Also there is no hip fire (to shoot you need to aim first by holding right mouse button) and no blind fire from cover, which I found odd. Nevertheless, these are minor nitpicks.

The music, as in any other Remedy games is top-notch, and atmospheric. The visuals are nice, especially I like the effect they used to show time raptures, which permeate the whole game - it is quite impressive.

Unfortunately, the game was poorly optimized. The technical requirements are way too high, and there were some strange graphical artifacts on my screen at times (I mostly blamed them on the fractures in Time that were happening in the plot, so it was not that bad :) I was running the game on High settings on my GTX 970, and overall I did not experience any serious game-breaking technical problems with it, even fps drops, which others are talking about. Again, the experience could be different for everyone, as the port is not perfect.

I am giving a 10 to counter all the other reviews, because people are sometimes being just ridiculous. The game itself is a strong 8 or a 9 for me. It was a blast to play, and I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed Alan Wake, Remedy's previous work. I strongly recommend it to all action-lovers, and people who love games with strong plots. Well, at least after they have patched the game up a bit and ironed out all the technical hiccups, you should really give it a try.

P.S. As a bonus, the game even contains a mini series with live actors, which is shown between episodes (which you can skip if you are not that into it). It is very professionally done, and just shows you how much effort and care went into the game.

Its much better than the other crap released nowadays. If you enjoyed The Max Payne series (except the third one) and Alan Wake for the story, just enjoy. I loved it

It is a lot like the Uncharted games, but with better platforming. It is a lot like The Last of Us, but with fancy powers in place of any stealth activity. It is a lot like the first Tomb Raider (2013). One power is like Dead Space's stasis, which can be used to slow enemies or fast-moving objects. It is used in a few light puzzles. Another power is like the rewind power of God of War: Ascension. You use the powers in combination with guns to stop enemies, like a more-advanced gun-and-flashlight combo used in Alan Wake. It is linear, fairly short, and doesn't have much variety in the fighting or enemy types. But it is very cinematic, with a good story and great acting. It looks amazing. The time break effect might not be for everybody, but I liked it. It is a whole lot of fun. It could use more of everything, and maybe tie the live-action episodes into the game a bit better. But overall, unless you are expecting a 40-hour fetch quest or RPG like Fallout or The Witcher, you should give it a try.
As for performance, the max setting are future proofing. It looks great using medium settings and plays at a decent frame rate for an action/adventure. I was able to play it with high and ultra settings at 45 fps or more. I do have a 4.0GHz i7 and a R9 390X. It is true that it isn't optimized as well for Nvidia, but when Tomb Raider came out 3 years ago my computer at the time couldn't handle her fancy hair at all. But with the hair turned off it ran fine. This is a similar situation. It is totally playable on lower-end hardware with realistic settings and it will look better than anything ever did on a 360 or PS3.
The worst technical problem was having to upgrade to Windows 10, which broke my wireless Logitech controller and my audio card. I had no crashes and no problem with my regular old 7200-RPM hard drive. The only real problem I have is that I am sad it is over. I hear the replay value isn't great, but I will play it again just to see if any of the "choices" actually change the live-action cut scenes.

This time around I loved the story, thought the whole idea of the time being ruptured and explored in a multitude of different way was interesting, I loved the use of actors for the characters, and I also loved the characters themselves, their personalities and dynamics with one another.

The gameplay was also quite fun, lots of stuff to collect around the levels, some things that are there to develop the lore, others that are there as upgrade points to upgrade your abilities, and what abilities and combat systems these were…

The combat and the abilities complement one another, so the shooting feels satisfying, but the game never stays just being a rudimentary, by the numbers, third person cover shooter, instead you can use a number of abilities to your disposal with the concept of the control of time added to each of them, in fairly unique ways as well, is not just like in most games where there’s a bullet time mode, which would’ve already been cool, but here, instead, the abilities you get are a heck of a lot more unique.

If there’s a problem I had with the game it had to do with the pacing a few times, which was quite slow, specially at the beginning, also with the fact that the game has a strangely cheesy final boss fight that ended up feeling a tad bit frustrating, and finally, the game has some segments that are pretty cool for the most part where you’re supposed to use time to control a number of objects and puzzles, so you can use it to rebuild some parts of the level, or to maybe slow down something coming really fast at you, these parts were fun, but there were also sometimes where after a really cool fight I would get insta-kill by an elevator door, making the whole experience a bit frustrating here and there.

    Overall, though? Great, great game.

+ Some of the scenes are pretty dope, especially navigating and fighting during "frozen time" later in the game. Definitely produces a wow-effect.

    Contra:

    - Resource black hole graphics that still has quite many glitches/artifacts for its supposed quality. On my 1080 Ti and 2K resolution I had to dial down some settings for playable (>60) FPS. The game sure looks good but nothing to justify its requirements and performance.
    - Game crashes every now and then.
    - Despite the plot forks, levels are shallowly linear.
    - Shooting-related mechanic feels wrong and immersion breaking. There's that insanely strong unnatural radial bullet spread (accuracy and recoil don't work like that), range is limited on many weapons (like bullets dematerialize at some CLOSE point), obstructive aiming camera with too much parallax at close ranges where a lot of action happens (at least give the guy a laser pointer to deal with parallax problem), bullets are weak like .22LR and take a lot of time to kill both protagonist and enemies, not to mention pistol ammo is infinite (I guess spoils of black hole and time-travel techs, but seriously it's just babysitting the modern casual "untergamers" - the maps have occasional infinite ammo backpacks for resupply so why the hustle).
    - There's no stealth and melee is very limited which means the game boils down to using the sloppy shooting mechanics in all confrontations. Yeah, showing its weak side all the time.
    - Cake walk for kids, even "hard" difficulty is not hard at all. Add health regen to this problem, gone are the old sour days of Max Payne where you would twitchly search for painkillers because game didn't forgive your mistakes. There are no options to make the game challenging enough for a die hard player while it's the easiest thing to do with a simple numbers tweak. Damn, you gave the guy superpowers but his real superpower is that he eats bullets like a tank, heals like a demon and has a black hole pistol clip.

    In summa:

Not recommended for purchase, it will lag terribly on anything below 2017 hi-end PC and it's a one-pass amusement after all - replayability despite all the plot forks is small because the core aspect of the game - shooting - is pretty bland, unsatisfying and thus repetetive like a chore, not to mention the linear level structure. It has no multiplayer anyway so you know where to get it for a free try...

I haven't finished the game, and I doubt I'll ever return to it. Actually, I was gonna rate this game 8/10, but:
    1) I just *hate* checkpoint save system in every game, so I'm sorry, Remedy, minus one.
    2) The final boss fight took me two days, and yet I haven't beat it. I can't afford to spend more my time for this! The game is 3 years old, but you, Remedy, still don't understand that

One hundred times? Two hundreds? One thousand? That's totally unacceptable! Minus one.

    Bottom line: 6/10.

P.S. I'll never buy your next games (for example, Control) until you fix this one.

A decent concept hamstrung by poor game design that robs the user of control over the character and makes combat much harder than it needs to be. A situation made worse by cut scene overload and shoddy optimisation.

The result is a irritating, frustrating experience, that feels linear in the worst way possible.

I highly recommend going through all the optional interactable content you find along the way (specially email conversations). They add soo much to your understanding of what happened/is happening/will happen about events the protagonist will not necessary experience. Take your time and read everything. The plot is not complicated, but is well thought enough to make you feel smart when you understand it :)

Also, play on the hardest difficulty setting. The game is not too challenging.

The story and gameplay is where it falters. Actions is a mess of confusing steps. You are presented with a number of abilities that sometimes work, sometimes don't and the responsiveness feels a bit arbitrary. You time shift next to an enemy with the intent to let him have a shotgun blast in the face but the character ends up fiddling with the weapon and you realize the enemy has plenty of time to pump you full of led. Or the game encourages to collect some stuff around the level but only when it decides to until it randomly takes away your ability to jump and run making the collecting of something in sight impossible (restart of the level is required at that point). Shootouts at the end are a massive choir and a pain in the bum. Enemies spawn out of thin air without point or reason, just to prolong the encounter. Killing the same faceless guys over and over and over again. I guess that is the pointlessness of the situation. At some point you start thinking at the sheer number of people you slaughter just because they've hurt your feelings or something.

The story is also sadly something that has wild ups and downs. It looks like from the beginning was never intended for them to use the faces of famous actors. They feel out of place. This is reinforced further when you encounters the two main characters from the 2014 E3 demo which models are still used as support cast now, and have superior facial expressions and emotional range, than the fairly stiff actors faces. But the biggest issues is that you never really care about them. They are nothing more than talking heads that propel the plot further. There is a mysterious force that transforms one of your best friends in to a homicide maniac, people shift allegiance after the words please and you are occasionally playing as the bad guy making decisions with ultimately fall flat as they are based on experiences that this character should have (while playing with the main protagonist). Worst bit the game doesn't bother explaining anything.

The big finale ends with a whimper, setting up a cataclysm that is never presented, explained or detailed in any form. It's just so horrible that would make people go bananas and you gotta trust them on that.

I guess, my expectations were way too high.

A quick performance note: Game runs fine on a mid range hardware from 2017. Just make sure you tame your expectations and always install on an ssd, there is a lot of content streaming and it does require something faster than an ordinary spin drive.

The pieces generally mesh together well, though, and it’s good to see Remedy’s unique story-telling skills are as sharp as ever. An easy 7/10, and worth a purchase at $10 or less. Hope you have a good internet connection, though. The live-action episodes stream directly from servers (they don’t download with the game).
Total size on my hard-drive: 70.6 GB

++ Production values. Music, visuals, voice-acting, animations, visual design – among the best you’ll find in any game at the moment.

+ A slow-burn sort of story, Quantum Break’s narrative has an inner logic that is all too rare in time-travel adventures. Translation: the story can seem confusing at times, but everything is explained, either through dialogue or collectibles. Everything.
+ There is not an awkward casting choice to be found.
+ The live-action episodes are well-shot, and blend well into the gameplay sections – thanks in no small part to the excellent graphics.
+ The gameplay action sequences are very well done. The time-power-based combat is for the most part fluid and deadly. (Experienced players may actually find the combat too easy.)
+ Most levels, though linear, are quite large and, in the manner of old gaming days, bear exploring to find all sorts of hidden collectibles and easter eggs.

+/- The major choices an impact on how the story develops, though not as big as I’d hoped. Choosing a different path doesn’t just result in different events; characters develop differently as well. Yet major story events will still unfold in the same or a similar manner regardless of what choice is made.
+/- Characters. They work, for the most part. Martin Hatch (Lance Reddick) stands out as a singular man of mystery, and I would have liked to play as Beth at a certain crucial point in the story. The rest fall into fairly standard stereo-types. Some dialogue can be cheesy as well.
+/- Remedy was experimenting with melding different methods of story-telling in Quantum Break. Traditional combat-driven gameplay is barely a quarter of how you’ll spend your time. Much of it will be spent walking from place to place, solving some simple platforming challenges, and reading lore / backstory from the large amount of collectibles you can find. The live-action episodes that link each act are well-shot and do a great job of sustaining dramatic momentum, though that probably won’t be good enough for those who want to play (instead of watch) their games.

    - The live-action video portions do not download with the game; they stream from servers.
    - The graphics look great but are very demanding. 1080P Medium gives me 30fps on my RX 470.
    - No hip-firing. Wtf? Yup. You can only fire your weapons when aiming down the sights.
    - There is a simplified system to upgrade your time-powers that relies on collecting random “chronon particles” that can be found throughout the gameplay levels. It provides a reason to explore the environments, but the system as a whole feels left over from what presumably would have been a much more intricate skill system.
    - A general disappointment for me was the build-up to what seemed to be a special enemy type, the Shifter: a tortured character that exists in multiple planes of time, who is extremely hard to kill and very aggressive. From the constant references I was certain we were going to fight one at some point – perhaps the final boss. Nope. We never, ever face even one Shifter. Seems like another concept that had to be cut from the game.
    - Final boss is mechanically a big disappointment. It’s a wave-based horde-mode; in-between each wave is a nonsensical mechanic that, if failed, is a one-hit kill. Contrary to most forum threads, it’s not a hard fight, but it feels cheap and lazy.

Quantum Break was most rewarding when setting the difficulty to Easy to cruise through the combat and otherwise play it as a walking simulator. There is a ton of lore hidden throughout the game, and much of it is worth reading if you’re enjoying the story and are a fan of time-travel entertainment. I doubt this is what people were expecting from a studio like Remedy, famous for games like Max Payne and Alan Wake. Those looking for a steady stream of action-laden levels will be disappointed. But it is a must-buy for time-travel fans, and a thoughtful, intricate story for those who are willing to take the time to read every note and journal the game has to offer.

Playing the game maxed out on 38" 3840x1600 ultrawide, it looks as impressive as it gets today. Though a high action lineal construction of the game doesn't really push player to exploring so the fidelity may not be entirely appreciated during first playtrough, it was only after finishing the game when I was jumping between different parts of the game making screenshots with free camera that I appreciated it fully. It has its weak points in visuals of course, for example a default very blurry look that requires very aggressive compensation through sharpening, much more than any other game I've played. Experimental blending of game and TV series also ended up working pretty nice, story is overall very good though not exactly even, there are some great moments and there are some where it starts to feel like some of these generic catastrophic movies. Though for vast majority of time the narrative is of high quality, especially all the notes you find along the way are very impressive, well written and extremely detailed, these are not just some fillers, they are like 1/3rd of the game, an integral part, brining a lot of intellectual and emotional value to the game. Combat makes a good use of all of the time breaking physics and is generally smooth and engaging. Problems start when we start to consider technical state of the game. By default game suffers from a lot of technical issues, like massive frame pacing issues and random locking to 30 FPS, all of which require very advanced knowledge from the user to get rid of, knowledge that 99% of users don't have and game is notoriously abandoned for that reason, as the game appears completely broken, and rightfully so, because in default state the game is simply unplayable. Along with that there are other issues, like ridiculous pre-rendered 30 FPS fixed aspect ratio cutscenes, that developer says are for the sake of consistency, but what consistency I'd like to ask, if cutscene resolution doesn't much gameplay resolution, cutscene framerate does not match gameplay framerate (60 FPS being minimum standard on PC) and if aspect ratio may not match gameplay aspect ratio. Thats the exact opposite of consistency. Even real time rendered cutscenes are doing that, suddenly locking to 30 FPS, and many times failing to go back to 60 once you are back to gameplay. Oh, and there are also some that don't lock to 30 FPS, and also some that don't lock to 16:9. There are like 5 types of cutscenes in the game. Consistency... Thats not the end of course, I cannot avoid mentioning Upscale option from graphics settings, which makes the game render at half the resolution, but blatantly lies that this does not affect picture quality and this is a recommended setting. And the best of all, enforced MSAAx4 anti-alising that you cannot turn off (in game setting is for TAA), which is most likely the reason why the game is so demanding. First they enforce MSAAx4, and they tell you to upscale. And apparently they couldn't fit a good Anisotropic Filtering in all this, because you have to use your own through graphics control panel, lowering game's performance by another few percent, like if it wasn't hard enough to run already. Consistency... Add to that releasing 3 years ago, when no hardware could run this kind of game at any reasonable resolution, exclusively on UWP and with horrible DX12 implementation (what I was saying before is for DX11 Steam version, DX12 one is even beyond describing) and you can get ready for inevitable disaster. So there are two technical sides of this game, from one side the game is very impressive and it is some of the biggest technological achievements in gaming to date, even being 3-year old game (it was far ahead of its time, remember that Pascal GPUs weren't released yet, so it had to run on 2014 GPUs), so people who created it deserve huge respect and credit, but people who were responsible for setting up and releasing this game up for PC should really find a different job, because they've hurt this game's perception infinitely and beyond repair. Even if you consider the requirements of the game justified by what it represents, which for me is true, there are still tons of additional, completely unnecessary issues. This should have been done much, much better. It should have been a signature game, and it is from technological standpoint, but the unreal amount of incompetence in releasing this game outweighed all the innovation and ambition that was put into it. 8/10 may sound high after all I've wrote, but as an enthusiast I really appreciate pushing the boundaries, which Quantum Break certainly does, and I have enough hardware and experience to mitigate the issues and bring the game to playable state. The game also has a ton of text that you want to read to better understand the history, and it is a good idea because it greatly reduces the pace of the game. The gameplay is just great! I have received great pleasure from using abilities. I play on PC, and kicked with the bad optimization, this heavily influenced my impressions, as the graphics are beautiful, but not outstanding, and very blurry.

Quantum Break is half game, half movie. It is meant to be a cinematic experience, and the game is designed to revolve around this. The first act in the game (about 1-2 hours long) has a very rough start, but once you get past it, the game quickly improves and the intensity builds up.

One really cool feature that the game employs is the use of live action footage that is quite lengthy.

One really cool feature that the game employs is the use of live action footage that is quite lengthy. Each video is around 15-20 minutes long. I quite liked this addition to the game, as it made it feel even more like a movie. (Take note: The videos are streamed off of a server and are not included with the game itself, which means that they won't function without an Internet connection, and there is a chance they may die off in the future if they are no longer maintained.)

At the end of each act, you're prompted with a major decision to make. This affects both the live action footage you witness as well as the game events itself. The decisions aren't some minor dialogue checks that don't really matter in the end like in a lot of other games that utilize them.

Overall, the game has a solid story and executes it relatively well, even though the gameplay is a bit lacking. The combat controls are a bit clunky in the beginning, but you eventually get used to them. The bridge event of Act 4 was horribly frustrating to play through due to the lack of checkpoints, which serves as my only major peeve. I'm giving this game a borderline 8, primarily because of the story. I recommend this game to those who are into time travel (12 Monkeys, anyone?).

On a side note, you should ignore the negative reviews about the game's optimization, because I haven't experienced any problems yet playing in 2019. They most likely have been ironed out by now and should not affect your experience if you play now.

Very nice story, unique special effects and real movie cut scenes make the whole game as a very unusual and pleasant experience. Yes the game is a bit short (hence 9 out of 10), but this short time was spent really well! Recommend!

2016 год был богат на игры со временем. Две локации в Titanfall и Dishonored были посвящены играм с ним и вот эпилогом к моде стал Квантовый разлом.

The game features quality actors that made a good job into bringing to life it's characters, the general acting is phenomenal.
Visually is a beautiful well crafted and rendered game that performs marvelous in a GTX 1080 ti with almost no frame drops.
The combat is smooth and exiting, allowing the player to either use weapons or his time travel powers to defeat faster the enemies.
The only problem i had with the game is that lacks of consistent check points, if you are in a tedious part of the game (and there are) if you die you will have to go back and repeat some large exploration or repeat some encounters in order to reach to the point where you die.
But that's the only complain a have, the game performs great, it looks great, the acting is amazing... this is an interesting game by Remedy and if you love Alan Wake and Max Payne this is a worth checking out.

Damn, what a shame. This is a game I wanted to play for years, and now I finally understand why it was so poorly received. Quantum Break is an interesting idea with a relatively competent story. Yet, it all falls apart in the gameplay.

Firstly, the mouse movement for this game is very weird. It makes the game feel like its running at a lower framerate due to a 'jitteriness' that I've never seen in a game before. Even when using a mod to turn off the motionblur, it doesn't fix the issue as some claimed it did. Plus, for some reason, you can't change your ADS speed, which is always lower sensitivity than your hip fire.

Secondly, the gun play sucks. All the weapons feel like pea shooters. Some, like the assault rifle, has a ridiculous bullet spread, while the heavy pistol has insultingly harsh recoil. It feels like they did this in order to force you to use the time abilities. For a developer that made the first two Max Payne games, this gun play is insulting.

Thirdly, movement doesn't feel good. It feels very stiff like a Rockstar game as animations take priority over pinpoint movement. Like, literally at one point, Jack would refuse to jump on boxes that the game wanted him to jump on. Seriously, how is the movement system this bad? Plus, what was the reason to remove the crotch button? Now, Jack will automatically take cover when near objects. Yet, its not always consistent leaving you vulnerable.

Lastly, this game just runs bad. It probably didn't help that they were using an unfamiliar API, DirectX 12, then switched to DirectX 11 for the Steam release. My system is definitely getting older, but it shouldn't chug as much as it does.

Quantum Break was an interesting idea that does decent for the story execution, but completely fails when it tries to be a game...

I regret buying the game. They clearly put much work and resources into making this, however they delivered poorly. The story is over the top and the gameplay rather unsatisfying. There is a lot of nonsense and the playing is bland and unrewarding with clunky controls. Performance is also rather bad as others pointed out.

Well, because it's part of the story and vision. I usually play games because of their story and capability to transport me into their world; skipping over the console style of level design...I can't stand a bad movie.

Quantum Break is a very linear story, a science fiction action-adventure third-person shooter that put us on the role of Jack Joice, to whom it was granted time manipulation powers after a failed time-machine experiment. After finishing the story in normal mode, and start replay the game again in hard, I think it's the right moment for the review of the game.

First of all let's talk already in game duration and "re-playability". The game is short and the ideia of replay it again its not a very attractive task, it seems unnecessary and a repetitive task. Obviously if you want to complete unfinished achievements, find all the in-game collectibles or see all the alternatives routes to the story you have to do it. But does it justify?
The game presents an interesting idea that puts pieces of history in video, like a TV show, that completes in a very nice way the playable story. But this aspect, although an interesting concept, it kind of disguises the fact that the game is small.

Visually the game is very good, even with the appearance blurred or de-fragmented. I was surprised by the fluidity of the game (very near the 60 fps all the time on my 1060). I had read that there were huge performance problems in the PC when the game was released, but apparently the problems were overcome.

Overall it is a very nice gaming experience, especially for its history with all the twists, turns and "time travel loops" of a good sci-fi story. Here is small YouTube vide with the first minutes of the gameplay if you wanna check it out: https://youtu.be/qXlIjqy50g4

This is a brilliant game that suffers from bugs. Developers had to modify the game before release. And the decision to show the show via the Internet is extremely stupid and inconvenient for the player. Rewinding the player of the serial part of the game often crashes and you need to restart viewing. I advise this game to buy on sale.

Great and very interesting plot, atmosphere, surroundings and design. A little annoying behavior of the characters for the sake of the richness of the plot and continuation of "game-play time" ...And terrifying and unforgivable disgusting optimization that sends your PC to f**k itself, because it is no matter how powerful it may be.
    Oh, and disappointing last boss-fight.

The graphics are superb. The capturing of the phenomenon of time fractures/stutters was done very well. The movement and interactions, as well as character models came of as realistic and immersive.

The gameplay was smooth. I had no game breaking bugs, and only once had one issue, where I had to find a coward bad guy hiding, which was keeping me from progressing. Aside from that one moment, the entire game was smooth and essentially flawless. The controls were easy to learn. I had no trouble using the skills of Jack, and found the difficulty level progressed very nicely with the advancing skills.

The story of Quantum Break is a captivating and well written adventure. I found myself compelled to not only finish the game, but to try different paths, to see the variable of outcomes that were included. The included collectibles in the game are worth finding, and add a lot of background to the story, which gave amazing depth. This video game did an exceptional accomplishment of written story, cinematic presentation, and video game experience combined.

This is a game I recommend everyone to take the time to experience, and I hope that I can come across many more games like this in the future. A top notch experience that makes video gaming more entertaining on a whole new level.

What an amazing game! It boasts a beautiful story with exceptional performances from actors like Aidan Gillen, whom I adore. The story is truly captivating and intriguing, complemented by smooth and engaging gameplay, a clever incorporation of a TV series concept, and fantastic graphics.

This game offers a compelling story, which is what we've come to expect from Remedy. It keeps you on your toes and eagerly anticipating each scene. The time-travel theme is expertly executed, although, given the complexity of time-travel, it's advisable not to delve too deeply into the physics or plausibility of the concepts. Adding to the allure of the story is the outstanding performances of well-known actors, impeccably cast. I was particularly eager to witness Littlefinger's performance - what an amazing actor! The character development and their individual narratives, which are numerous and well-crafted, are simply brilliant.

The game also features TV series segments after each act. I've heard mixed opinions about these, and while I wasn't initially captivated during the first half of the first episode, I soon found myself eagerly anticipating each act to see how the TV series will tie into the game's storyline. The way these segments connect with the game's narrative is a brilliant idea from Remedy. The story leaves room for a potential sequel, and although it may seem unlikely, we ARE getting an Alan Wake 2 after so many years, so who knows?

Furthermore, the game offers plenty of reading material to discover while exploring. Although optional, to truly grasp and immerse oneself in the story, I found it essential to read everything found. Some of these texts are quite lengthy, and while I personally enjoyed them, I acknowledge that they might not be everyone's cup of tea. At times, even for me, it felt a bit overwhelming, but enriching the game's universe through such content is never a bad idea.

In terms of gameplay and visuals, Quantum Break is a visual masterpiece. Initially, I thought the shooting segments were infrequent, but over time, I came to appreciate the well-balanced mix of exploration, storytelling, and combat. The animations, cinematics, and graphics are exceptionally well-crafted, creating an immersive experience. Combat is engaging, satisfying, and visually stunning, thanks to the various abilities and slow-motion moments. However, some interaction animations, such as the jump animation, felt a bit awkward and cringeworthy at first. You do eventually get used to them, but they still appear odd in their execution.

I've heard that Quantum Break was an ambitious project in its time, which led to glitches, bugs, and performance issues. In my experience in 2023, the game ran smoothly, with only occasional stuttering issues towards the end of the last act, and one crash, although I'm not entirely certain whether it was due to the game or my PC. Therefore, I wouldn't consider performance issues a concern.

Overall, Quantum Break was an incredible experience, and I absolutely loved it. I may even revisit it later to complete all the achievements, a testament to how much I enjoyed it, as I typically reserve such efforts for games I truly love. Despite initial concerns surrounding this title, I'm delighted I decided to give it a chance because it's yet another exceptionally well-executed Remedy game in their portfolio.

while the the story phasing, Live action, and the voice acting is perfectly done the animations falls flat, with a lot of jittering, and bad movements, the gun play is good and abilities are well done the upgrades are uninteresting and some guns are just worthless and bad cover system doesn't help. the graphics are good but the technical side is problematic with bad shadows and lightning, while the the story phasing, Live action, and the voice acting is perfectly done the animations falls flat, with a lot of jittering, and bad movements, the gun play is good and abilities are well done the upgrades are uninteresting and some guns are just worthless and bad cover system doesn't help. the graphics are good but the technical side is problematic with bad shadows and lightning, gameplay is OK but the amount of "i got stuck" is a little bit sad to see. the story is good and live actions make it even better, but the game need help with updates and fixes, but there will be none so that's where the score comes from Expand

Most definitely recommend for someone who enjoys other Remedy games such as Alan Wake, Control, or for someone who loves story-driven games.

POSITIVES + story that keeps you hooked + graphics (especially lighing) + episodic storytelling + level design + amazing cast of actors + time manipulation game mechanics + really impressive set pieces (something you don't see in most games)

    NEGATIVES
    - demanding game on GPU
    - live action TV Show... I would actually enjoy the show, as a seperate thing because it is good, but here it breaks the flow of the game when you suddenly need to watch (stream!!!) a 20 minute show between episodes, when instead you could be playing the game... and I also dislike the use of live action in a game, but that's a separate matter
    - you can't turn off motion blur in the game

Quantum Break proved to me that it is completly an action game. Can I play second? I do not think so. Do I regret playing? No way. did i have fun? I can easily say yes. Bored? no. I felt very comfortable playing the game. I can say that I spent 5 6 hours with pleasure hitting and breaking without any contraction or tension. If you’re a fan of action style, I’d say it’s worth playing. IfQuantum Break proved to me that it is completly an action game. Can I play second? I do not think so. Do I regret playing? Yet another well done Remedy shooter, but I rather play the game than watch looong videos, even though they are pretty well done. [Oct 2016]

Quantum Break is a great game from start to finish, and playing it with all the benefits of being on PC just make it that much better. Given that this game is coming out at a lower price point on PC as well, there's just not excuse not to get it.

Quantum Break arrives to PC completely unaltered, with all its lights and shadows, but offers an improved visual experience by exploiting the highest hardware configurations and an enhanced control system thanks to the inclusion of the mouse.
