Quantum Break is a pretty awesome and fun game, if you see it purely from a story and gameplay view and ignore all the small (but really annoying) bugs like the bad optimization for PC (low fps, stuttering, random freezing/crashing). However, I'm willing to look past it because they decided that they were gonna bring this game to PC instead of being just an Xbox One exclusive (I was almost tempted to get an Xbox One just to play this game). The graphics look really nice and i wish I could play at Ultra but currently I'm only stuck at low :( because of my rig (GTX770) with resolution of 1080p. The frame rate is certainly not the best and it does sometimes freeze my computer. But the cinematics, graphics, story, gameplay are all top-notch.
    Cons:
    - If your comp isn't up to recommended, you might have low frame rates, freezing crashing issues etc
    - Jumping is a bit annoying in this game, kinda clunky (like Alan Wake)
    - Real-life episodes streaming relies on your internet speed. And even though it's just a video, it sometimes have low fps like in game
    - Getting skill points requires you to look for special thingies to gain a skill point, would've preferred a level up system instead and have that as an optional thing
    - Starting a new game apparently wipes EVERYTHING
    Pros:
    - Loving the gameplay, the powers, the shooting, everything.
    - The real life episodes are really nice to have. You can even go back and watch them again
    - The story is pretty damn interesting. You might get confused because of all the time travel stuff though
    - It has Aidan Gillen (Petyr Baelish AKA Littlefinger from Game of Thrones) in it! xD (my personal pro)
    - The graphics are really pretty, if your comp can handle it
    - You can go back to any previous acts/parts to go and find the stuff that you missed
    - You can go back to any previous acts/parts to change your decision and watch what happens
BTW, just a tip for you if you're planning to buy the game from Windows store (which is the only way you can buy it for PC), you can change your region (search region in your windows) and get a cheaper price for the game. I switched my region from my country (Malaysia) to another country (Thailand) and the price went from 250$ to 190$ (rough estimate).

The game could've used a few more polishes here and there. The story, of time shifting, it's interesting, never saw it, or played a game before where it was used, as i've said earlier, i'm no pro gamer to try and finish all the games.

The movies are a tad long, and could have been chopped a little bit, and some game time inserted here and there.

The graphics unfortunately, Microsoft will have to do a better job next time, and take Ubi's recent releases, as an example, related to graphics, i'm being indulgent this time with the remarks, and the score, but the optimizations are not of an AAA game, and neither are the graphics, it's very clear that the game was though and built for XBOX, and then ported to Win10, probably as an experiment or something. The Win10 availability isn't a problem for me, i have to admit it was a bold move, but so was ROTTR, built for consoles, adapted and ported for pc game play, and that was a masterpiece, so no excuse here, as it had no predecessors, to learn from past mistakes.

As a last note, the game is really worth around 15-20 Eur at most, at it's current stage.

Don't get me wrong, i love ACS, ROTTR, and they are worth every penny, but hate ACU,the graphics were ok, but the gameplay was ****

Quantum Break starts slowly and with a hint of mystery and steadily builds in both story tension and pace over the course of the entire game.

The visuals are great at 60fps if you have a machine that can max it out. Thats not to say its perfect as there are still kinks that need to be worked out with dx12 and the uwp platform but overall the game is no slouch. I ran it on a 290x paired with a 5820k and 16 gigs of ddr4 without any issue. Im quite confident remedy will be updating the pc version in the near future to further improve the visuals as well but people need to understand dx12 is new and older hardware will struggle especially older nvidia hardware and cpus that have less than 4 cores AND CANT multi thread. the sound design and vocal performances are also phenomenal. Gameplay is also absolutely on point. Alan Wake was somewhat of a let down in the gameplay dept as it never evolved over time (no pun intended) but Quantum Break keeps changing as you move forward. You gain new abilities and you level up those abilities.

There is tons of story in this game. Finding emails or objects not only add to the in game story and fill in some history and motivations they also alter the live action scenes you watch so not everyone will see the same thing every time. How much of the story and what story you get are entirely up to you.

These story objects are easily tracked in the menu and you can go back to any point in the game to find something you missed or do something in a different way.

Overall a fantastic game that I can see myself playing multiple times. I rated the xbox version a 9 and knocked a point off on pc because of the current lack of visual options however i believe that will change soon. I also believe alot of people are scoring it too low on visuals and performance because they have issues running it. Its very likely those issues are their own machines and not the games. Again currebt nvidia hardware struggles with dx12 and amd doesnt. Alot of gamers are also running core i5's which cant multithread abd dx12 relies on as many fast threads as possible. Thats where its performance gains lie so be aware of that fact when buying.

If your pc is up to snuff you will have no issues and the game will look good and run fantastic.

The main selling point of the game, IMHO, is the story. Simply put, it is excellent, and I think it is one of Remedy's best works yet. It is about time travelling - a topic which is extremely difficult to write a good plot about. Yet, they pulled it off. Not without hitches and some plot holes, mind you, but they are not major, and overall everything boils down to a very coherent and competent story that can very well be on par with the best works of fiction of this genre in other media. I am very picky about my time travel movies, but this game hit all the right notes with me. The only thing that bothered me was the ending: it wrapped up most story arcs quite well, but left some questions unanswered hinting at a possible sequel. Knowing how that ended for Alan Wake, I would prefer they did not do that. Although I would absolutely love to see a Quantum Break 2.

The gameplay was fun as well - overall shooting and using your special powers in action sequences was a blast. Although there were not as many gun fights as I expected. Also, no slow-motion, Max Payne style, which is weird considering the theme of the game - basically you can freeze time only locally by creating a time bubble in certain spots. Also there is no hip fire (to shoot you need to aim first by holding right mouse button) and no blind fire from cover, which I found odd. Nevertheless, these are minor nitpicks.

The music, as in any other Remedy games is top-notch, and atmospheric. The visuals are nice, especially I like the effect they used to show time raptures, which permeate the whole game - it is quite impressive.

Unfortunately, the game was poorly optimized. The technical requirements are way too high, and there were some strange graphical artifacts on my screen at times (I mostly blamed them on the fractures in Time that were happening in the plot, so it was not that bad :) I was running the game on High settings on my GTX 970, and overall I did not experience any serious game-breaking technical problems with it, even fps drops, which others are talking about. Again, the experience could be different for everyone, as the port is not perfect.

I am giving a 10 to counter all the other reviews, because people are sometimes being just ridiculous. The game itself is a strong 8 or a 9 for me. It was a blast to play, and I enjoyed it more than I enjoyed Alan Wake, Remedy's previous work. I strongly recommend it to all action-lovers, and people who love games with strong plots. Well, at least after they have patched the game up a bit and ironed out all the technical hiccups, you should really give it a try.

P.S. As a bonus, the game even contains a mini series with live actors, which is shown between episodes (which you can skip if you are not that into it). It is very professionally done, and just shows you how much effort and care went into the game.

Its much better than the other crap released nowadays. If you enjoyed The Max Payne series (except the third one) and Alan Wake for the story, just enjoy. I loved it

It is a lot like the Uncharted games, but with better platforming. It is a lot like The Last of Us, but with fancy powers in place of any stealth activity. It is a lot like the first Tomb Raider (2013). One power is like Dead Space's stasis, which can be used to slow enemies or fast-moving objects. It is used in a few light puzzles. Another power is like the rewind power of God of War: Ascension. You use the powers in combination with guns to stop enemies, like a more-advanced gun-and-flashlight combo used in Alan Wake. It is linear, fairly short, and doesn't have much variety in the fighting or enemy types. But it is very cinematic, with a good story and great acting. It looks amazing. The time break effect might not be for everybody, but I liked it. It is a whole lot of fun. It could use more of everything, and maybe tie the live-action episodes into the game a bit better. But overall, unless you are expecting a 40-hour fetch quest or RPG like Fallout or The Witcher, you should give it a try.
As for performance, the max setting are future proofing. It looks great using medium settings and plays at a decent frame rate for an action/adventure. I was able to play it with high and ultra settings at 45 fps or more. I do have a 4.0GHz i7 and a R9 390X. It is true that it isn't optimized as well for Nvidia, but when Tomb Raider came out 3 years ago my computer at the time couldn't handle her fancy hair at all. But with the hair turned off it ran fine. This is a similar situation. It is totally playable on lower-end hardware with realistic settings and it will look better than anything ever did on a 360 or PS3.
The worst technical problem was having to upgrade to Windows 10, which broke my wireless Logitech controller and my audio card. I had no crashes and no problem with my regular old 7200-RPM hard drive. The only real problem I have is that I am sad it is over. I hear the replay value isn't great, but I will play it again just to see if any of the "choices" actually change the live-action cut scenes.

This time around I loved the story, thought the whole idea of the time being ruptured and explored in a multitude of different way was interesting, I loved the use of actors for the characters, and I also loved the characters themselves, their personalities and dynamics with one another.

The gameplay was also quite fun, lots of stuff to collect around the levels, some things that are there to develop the lore, others that are there as upgrade points to upgrade your abilities, and what abilities and combat systems these were…

The combat and the abilities complement one another, so the shooting feels satisfying, but the game never stays just being a rudimentary, by the numbers, third person cover shooter, instead you can use a number of abilities to your disposal with the concept of the control of time added to each of them, in fairly unique ways as well, is not just like in most games where there’s a bullet time mode, which would’ve already been cool, but here, instead, the abilities you get are a heck of a lot more unique.

If there’s a problem I had with the game it had to do with the pacing a few times, which was quite slow, specially at the beginning, also with the fact that the game has a strangely cheesy final boss fight that ended up feeling a tad bit frustrating, and finally, the game has some segments that are pretty cool for the most part where you’re supposed to use time to control a number of objects and puzzles, so you can use it to rebuild some parts of the level, or to maybe slow down something coming really fast at you, these parts were fun, but there were also sometimes where after a really cool fight I would get insta-kill by an elevator door, making the whole experience a bit frustrating here and there.

    Overall, though? Great, great game.

+ Some of the scenes are pretty dope, especially navigating and fighting during "frozen time" later in the game. Definitely produces a wow-effect.

    Contra:

    - Resource black hole graphics that still has quite many glitches/artifacts for its supposed quality. On my 1080 Ti and 2K resolution I had to dial down some settings for playable (>60) FPS. The game sure looks good but nothing to justify its requirements and performance.
    - Game crashes every now and then.
    - Despite the plot forks, levels are shallowly linear.
    - Shooting-related mechanic feels wrong and immersion breaking. There's that insanely strong unnatural radial bullet spread (accuracy and recoil don't work like that), range is limited on many weapons (like bullets dematerialize at some CLOSE point), obstructive aiming camera with too much parallax at close ranges where a lot of action happens (at least give the guy a laser pointer to deal with parallax problem), bullets are weak like .22LR and take a lot of time to kill both protagonist and enemies, not to mention pistol ammo is infinite (I guess spoils of black hole and time-travel techs, but seriously it's just babysitting the modern casual "untergamers" - the maps have occasional infinite ammo backpacks for resupply so why the hustle).
    - There's no stealth and melee is very limited which means the game boils down to using the sloppy shooting mechanics in all confrontations. Yeah, showing its weak side all the time.
    - Cake walk for kids, even "hard" difficulty is not hard at all. Add health regen to this problem, gone are the old sour days of Max Payne where you would twitchly search for painkillers because game didn't forgive your mistakes. There are no options to make the game challenging enough for a die hard player while it's the easiest thing to do with a simple numbers tweak. Damn, you gave the guy superpowers but his real superpower is that he eats bullets like a tank, heals like a demon and has a black hole pistol clip.

    In summa:

Not recommended for purchase, it will lag terribly on anything below 2017 hi-end PC and it's a one-pass amusement after all - replayability despite all the plot forks is small because the core aspect of the game - shooting - is pretty bland, unsatisfying and thus repetetive like a chore, not to mention the linear level structure. It has no multiplayer anyway so you know where to get it for a free try...

I haven't finished the game, and I doubt I'll ever return to it. Actually, I was gonna rate this game 8/10, but:
    1) I just *hate* checkpoint save system in every game, so I'm sorry, Remedy, minus one.
    2) The final boss fight took me two days, and yet I haven't beat it. I can't afford to spend more my time for this! The game is 3 years old, but you, Remedy, still don't understand that

The game is 3 years old, but you, Remedy, still don't understand that there *should be* a checkpoint between the two waves of enemies? How long do I need to listen that "Forget ..." phrase? One hundred times? Two hundreds? One thousand? That's totally unacceptable! Minus one.

    Bottom line: 6/10.

P.S. I'll never buy your next games (for example, Control) until you fix this one.

Yet another well done Remedy shooter, but I rather play the game than watch looong videos, even though they are pretty well done. [Oct 2016]

Quantum Break is a great game from start to finish, and playing it with all the benefits of being on PC just make it that much better. Given that this game is coming out at a lower price point on PC as well, there's just not excuse not to get it.

Quantum Break arrives to PC completely unaltered, with all its lights and shadows, but offers an improved visual experience by exploiting the highest hardware configurations and an enhanced control system thanks to the inclusion of the mouse.
