Overall, Puzzlegeddon is a competent puzzle game with some innovative twists.
-
Edge MagazineDespite the vertiginous learning curve, however, Puzzlegeddon’s mechanics intersect neatly and offer some depth – even if most early games will descend into manic clicking. [Feb 2009, p.97]
-
PC FormatIt's a fresh idea, more than worth a few of your Earth lunchtimes. [Feb 2009, p.101]
-
Beautifully presented, and has enough strategic depth to compensate for its occasional dead spots and sparse online community.
-
A puzzle block game with the ability to shoot things at your foes? Sounds great, but in attempting to appeal to a mass audience the developers have instead made an extremely niche game. If you like puzzle games, you'll love it - everyone else should stay clear.
-
At the current price point, it's hard to justify a game that is ultimately so simple and small, even if it can be fairly enjoyable. Pieces Interactive has a good premise here, but ultimately, they didn't make enough out of it to justify the cost.
-
The core of Puzzlegeddon remains a fun, engaging take on a classic genre with a clever twist - but played against the soulless bots, with no bragging rights or trust in equanimity, there's a limited appeal which probably won't justify the admittedly low price-tag (GBP 10.95 at Direct2Drive). Find a similarly-minded friend, however, and feel free to adjust the score according to your love of competition.
