PES 2015 is a massive improvement on what was a series on the verge of collapse in recent years. This season's outing is the best since the glory days of PES 6 but is still far from the standard the series once held all those years ago.

In gameplay terms; PES this year feel much better. Players seem less robotic and matches flow very well. The physics are still ropey at times but everything feels tidier and more satisfying to play. No match ever feels the same which is something FIFA has struggled with for years in terms of scripted gameplay. Konami have certainly worked hard to reach this stage in recent years and finally their efforts have paid off.

Sadly; other aspects of the game have been neglected which really drags the quality of the product down. Visually; PES looks decent and the players are far more impressive graphically than FIFA however, the general presentation is ghastly and has not been overhauled. It still feels like a game stuck in the PS2 days with hideous menus and general piss-poor layouts. The audio is largely unbearable and is recycled from previous games plus the replays are painfully poor in giving a good TV representation.

The most unforgiving factor for me is the lack of stadiums. They are EXACTLY the same as seen in previous versions. There is 19 in total including Konami passing off the San Siro as two different grounds. There is no new ones and the existing batch is just another copy and paste job from past iterations. The only real improvements is on the pitch in gameplay terms and that is about it. It's good but not quite the wholesale changes that this brand needs to catch up with FIFA.

Overall; PES 2015 on PC is a much improved game and one Konami can be proud of for the first time in a generation. Sadly it is letdown by a dreadful lack of presentation enhancements and despite the more fluid and controlled gameplay; this game just feels dated. The lack of a major licence is still an issue but if you're sick and tired of FIFA and want to take a punt on this; it may be worth a look if you haven't played PES for years. I wouldn't expect too much though. If anything; reinstall PES 6; get the 2015 mod and enjoy the most memorable sports game ever created. This one is a sterling effort that still leaves Konami much work to do in the future.

    (2) Konami do you have any problem with dortmund.
    (3) Commentary is harmful for my ear.
    (4) No complaint for licence stadium but give some fake or any small stadium for second divison and small club. (i don't want to play second division in big stadium like san siro and allianz arena)

No improvement. I give up on sport games.

    - The UI is still bad and animated/laggy so doing anything takes way longer than it should. - There's an insane amount of space on defense, you can keep the ball in their box way longer than you should. Fifa does the exact opposite, whereas once you get close to the box, it's just a massive clusterfck and you will get charged by 4 defenders.

    - Skill moves feel really bad and unresponsive. Also it's not Tekken, don't expect me to press RS up, down, left, left, RB, X+Y, B, B, A, LT while running diagonally.
    - There's so much more they can do outside of the game in single player modes (ML, BAL), but there's zero change every year.

I've played those games at my friends home, but whitout really much caring. I felt sort of relieved. By the time i stopped buying PES and FIFA releases, i realized these companies stopped making ANY real progress with the gameplay every new year. I realized these game where basically the same as the year before, with minor graphical improvements, major interface renewal (most of which in the worse), and minor random tweaks to the gameplay itself.

I grabbed this game, and the first impression is this: I'm playing pes 4 with some improvements, but definitely not enough for 10 FREAKING YEARS OF DEVELOPMENT AND MONEY GRABBING.
This game is the sequel to PES 4. It is fun to play with your friends, but the rest is complete garbage. Everything you loved in previous pes edition is there, but with basically NO enhancement. The physics is better, i concede that.

The gameplay is addictng. But is addicting like tobacco is: you know that you are hurting yourself, but the instant you score a goal, you kind of feel relieved of the stress you cumulate through the rest of the gameplay.

So if you want reasons for what i'm stating, i'll go deep on describing the gameplay.

This game is made to be played player vs player. that's it. If you need this for this and solely this reason, buy it! is a good game. But pes 6 is better. So you should probably get a copy of pes 6 instead, or last year fifa. Because trust me, except the up-tp-date teams (and not even all of em, since they didn't get the rights to use all of em for this year... so we are back to Mersey side Red and company, no german championship and so on...) the gameplay is the same, yhear after year. This is what we expected after pes 4, but is 10 YEARS LATER. Grab pes 6, is more enjoyable.

You want to play this game vs the AI? don't buy this game. Do yourself a favor, and keep your money in your bucket. The matches against AI are as KONAMI standard since the first PES on play station: the AI plays dumb so that you have your chanches to score, then suddenly buffs the stats of the adversary team for a determine amount of time. higer difficulty level means only this: buffs on adversary stats. This is a proven strategy for videogames company, since most of the players don't know or can't imagine how this is basically a scam. but if you see this, there's no way you could not feel cheated. 10 years of money and development, should have meant improvements over the AI. should have meant that the AI would not need to BEND the rules to achieve results. But that would have been meaning WORK! Something they want to avoid, i think. The time in which the ai EMULATES what a person can do given certain rules, won't probably ever come. People is keeping on throwing money at these companies, only to get the latest rosters, and not understanding they are being ripped off... and so these companies are selling THE SAME **** GAME AGAIN AND AGAIN.

All the modalities like my player, master league and so on, are **** Seriously, there have been tons of edition of pes with better and more understandable interfaces.

Tactics are nice, but have been implemented wrongly. The way you switch players is counter-intuitive, and gone is the feature to make fast switches. Playerr development? is there, but unles you write down the numbers for your players, you can't keep track of what your players are developing. So you decide this player is going to train on speed, but you don't know how much effective this training is, and unless you write down THE COMPLETE LIST OF STATS AND SKILLS OF HIM, you won't know what's going on about his developement.

Is this an enjoyable game after all? of course it is, as it where older PES games. But shall you buy a game which is a rippoff of a 10 years old game? of course not.

After playing for 20 mins this is a quick review:

The animations are wooden and completely unrealistic, players have to actually micro-stop before turning, it is awful to look at.

The passing, supposedly revamped? Through lob goes straight up in the air like a balloon (every time - it has no low arc), the low passes are either straight to the player to just in front, doesn't matter which pass you execute, through-ball or normal they both do the same thing. The shooting, has no weight to it (a homage to the days of Playstation PES?), and the actual player responsiveness is shocking, change cursor (like PES versions 6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13 and 14), when playing defensively, seems to do nothing until the last third.

    Seriously? Take back the pitch?

This is a joke - add to that the team kits and names are all wrong and we have another farce on our hands.

I look around at the reviews and I only see positive - come round to my house and play this game and you'll will see something completely different from what is being written.

I have been playing PES since Deluxe, and can firmly state the wheels have come off.

Firstly, I don't really care about the lacking licenses. Although, admittedly,I have downloaded a patch that at least sets the right emblems for each club and the kits have more or less the correct colours. Secondly, I don't particularly enjoy the online aspect of any trivial games. If I want an online game, I play a proper one and not some silly mode on a single player game. This includes PES, FIFA and other similar games, in fact. I don't want it because the people who play these modes destroy them regardless of good or bad they were implemented in the first place. If you have a realistic point of view on the human race, you'll expect just about nothing from these modes.

So, in short, I base my review on this game solely on the single player value and primarily the Become a Legend game mode.

The Become a Legend mode is probably the pinnacle of single player modes in terms of football games. It's as close as you get to a footy simulation since you're only controlling a single player and have a role in the team, just as in a real life situation.

The AI gameplay seems much improved compared to earlier iterations and it actually becomes interesting to play other positions than CM-AMC, which, in all honesty, were the only viable options up until now. In PES2015 I've enjoyed Right Back, Defensive Midfield, Left Midfield and Striker and they all give vastly different experiences provided that you are trying to take your role and position seriously. This want not really the case in previous iterations. The AI builds up play differently based on team instructions, which is a vast improvement of earlier iterations. This means there are at least some diversity in how teams feels to play with and against.

The added leagues and divisions make the immersion of the game mode vastly improved. Now you can start out in a second division and expect regular match time as opposed to being squad filler in a premier club. There are ups and downs with both choices, however, because if you start out as squad filler it means your player gets time to evolve without having to play a lot of matches. Meaning you essentially start out your career at a later stage and with a better player, you just need to click next in order to progress. I've done both, and I enjoy both on different occasions.

As far as I can tell there aren't any "typical AI goals" anymore, which I consider an improvement. Gameplay is diverse and aren't really hampered by any more stupidity than, for example, FIFA and Football Manager in terms of AI smartness. There have been a few really weird situations, but any seasoned computer sports gamer know that those are more or less unavoidable.

On a more individual level, the game seems to offer a lot more viable paths as a player. You don't particularly need a top tier sprinter in order to be an effective striker, although the quicker you are the less intelligence is needed to succeed, generally. One of my players are fairly quick, and I enjoy parking the defense on runs into space and go 1 on 1 with the keeper. I also enjoy my substantially slower goal poacher who prefers good positions and less time on the ball. I look forward to try spending time at better clubs who plays more possession based football as well. Long ball and counter attacking is fun, though, and I expect the different team styles will bring lots of enjoyable matches in the future.

    Well done, Konami.

Although PES is more pass focused, it felt a little too pass focused. You should be able to keep the ball with ease in your own half but just like FIFA, online players are coming to take a leg off and you lose the ball too easily. Pace might be slower than FIFA but the frequency of interchanging of possession is too fast. So since I switched from FIFA hoping for more "realistic football" experience online, and all I got was a slower pace not so realistic experience, I give it 2/10 1 lower than FIFA because of lack of licence and worse graphics.

Conclusion: If you've been playing FIFA, keep playing it, not worth switching over. If you've been playing PES, keep playing it, not worth switching over either.

All in all, the whole thing feels different, I had problems with the AI and overall gameplay too. It just feels supbar to what I experience with the newer engine. You have even to be thankful, for a succesful Log In to the Servers in General. To top it all of I didnt read a statement from the regarding those issues.

I thought last Year was a warning for Konami , they didn´t change anything. While its a better Game regarding the Mechanics and Feel, its worth nothing Online, again"

    Good gameplay.
    Disrespect for PC gamers.
    Very bad commentary as usual.
FIFA will be very strong next year to compete with PES though.
With patches, this would be a very good soccer game for this year.

One of the best PES in several years (I think I actually played almost every version). 2014 was clearly a work in progress, with an emphasis on players performing feints that felt awkwardly constructed. 2015 fixes that with a more balanced game construction, and with a more realistic game dynamic in general. Albeit there is a lack of official licenses, there are tons of option files to fix that (no need for a user patch). AI will offer a tough challenge, especially at the hardest level of difficulty. One minor bug I noticed is that the CPU keeper positions himself in the middle of the goal, behind the wall, making it too easy to score from a central positioned free kick. Absolutely to get if you are into soccer. Expand

I have to say that i am fairly disappointed and that now we for sure know why there was no PC Demo in the first place : Nobody would EVER buy it! The graphics are horrendous to say the least, the gameplay is certainly different than PS4 (played at friend's last night on his PS4) and i do understand licensing is an issue, but cmon, get something at least?

Why do I, on R9 290x and and latest OCd i7 CPU have to play with graphics looking closer to Android than PC?

PS4 has far far worse hardware than my PC, what is the problem then? I know it's easier to code it for platform like console but how a bout FIFA 15 then ? I don't see them seeing it as a problem, game looks even better on PC than it does on PS4.

I mean cmon, not everyone has trash PC so you gotta "tone down the graphics", give us more graphic settings so everyone can enjoy the 2015 game like a 2015 game should be.

If gameplay was so amazing i wouldn't even bother caring about graphics, but honestly the difference is not too noticable, better than FIFA, but not worth the trade-off.

I am rating this game low because KONAMI sold it to me under false pretense, saying that " newFox engine delivers stunning graphics" (Steam description for PES2015) yet those "stunning" graphics are nowhere to be seen!?

Oh yeah and did i mention that PES doesn't automatically detect primary graphics card (for those with integrated+PCIe cards, meaning 99% of pc players) so one has to change primary graphic card to PCIe in BIOS... I mean, what? Was it that hard to sort that one out just by looking how every other game, including those 10 years old, did it without messing with BIOS?

    Insane really.. Deeply disappointed.

The PC version of PES 2015 for me is very positive. The graphics are not to the level of ps4, it is true, but the gameplay is virtually identical. This involves a natural consequence: fun and dynamic as in versions next-gen. These days, for criticism, it seems that the graphics are the only factor that matters and this is not good. Pes 2015 but remains an excellent title .. even on PC! Expand

This game honestly sucks, I thought I was the only one with bad graphics cause maybe something was not set correctly but no.. It's just the terrible development of this game, I mean honestly, its got cardboard fans, the grass looks like old cement and the presentation in general is ugly!!

C'mon you expect me to buy this instead of FIFA??
    This is a terrible game..

I can only argue which one is the worst 14 or 15. Although i didn't play much of 14 cause not to be able to score from outside the box made me puke it had better gameplay or better said a little less bad gameplay then 15. Do not buy this piece of ****

Still not as complex and technologically advanced as FIFA, but this is the best PES in years, the game fans were waiting for. Konami managed to resurrect the spirit of Pro Evo 6, but with modern visuals that are breathtaking at times. [13/2014, p.54]

If FIFA 15 seemed too fast and felt wrong for no apparent reason, it’s likely that PES 2015 is your game. [Jan 2015, p.74]

If you have a console, get Pro Evo 2015 on that. If you’re a PC-only football fan, this is a functional if lacklustre port of a great match engine with broken online support.
