Post Void is an absolute delight to play with some of the most satisfying FPS gameplay I’ve experienced in years. While it might only have eleven levels to play through, the outstanding gunplay will keep players engrossed in the hours, days and weeks to come and at £2.33, it’s an unbelievable indie package.

Post Void is an excellent mashup between classic DOOM and Hotline Miami that can take minutes to beat, but hours to master.

Post Void is heavy rock-and-roll, flying pixels, and laser-sharp shmup arcade mechanics distilled into a combination that equally terrifies and unsettles.

Post Void is a barrage of garish visual information parading through the interface of a first-person shooter. As either an act of mercy or a concession to humanity, modest roguelite trappings force all of Post Void’s noise and fury into manageable dosages. This leaves Post Void as a wonderful party drug, provided you can sustain the party and handle the drugs.

In most games, things like frustrating controls and steep difficulty would be big negatives. In Post Void, they contribute to how the experience sits with the player. This is a game about determination in the face of uncaring adversity. There are themes of the brevity of life, the overwhelming violence in society, and how blindly moving forward is the only way to succeed, even if players leave something behind in the process. All this shines through even in play sessions that last thirty seconds or less. Beyond mindless progress or the promise of blood and gore, finding meaning in this chaos is Post Void's most addicting quality. By any definition of the word, that is art, and that's what makes Post Void great.

Post Void, beyond its dizzying hysterical aspect, remains a very addictive retro-FPS experience, simple, clean in concept and effective in execution and which, for the price of a big coffee, will put your skills at risk. , your precision and your concentration while giving you exhilarating sensations

The premise is simple: shoot stuff, run towards the finishing line, and do these as fast as possible, with a meter acting both as a timer, and a health bar. It's simple, yet very effective at getting you immersed and addicted, however, while, the frenzy of Post Void is definitely thrilling, the visual "noise" can get in the way of your score-chasing fun. Some small changes here and there, as well as tiny bit of additional content, could definitely turn this into a much bigger recommendation. Otherworldly fingers crossed...

Post Void will assault your retina’s with flashing lights and colour clashes that’re both hypnotic and headache-inducing. The old school, fast paced shooter action tied to a system which demands you kill, kill, kill are almost impossible not to enjoy but this is a punishing game that’ll need the player to have a lot of patience with the repetition it’ll put them through.

Post Void has succeeded at installing an itch in the back of my brain to pick it back up, and that’s impressive for a game that demands so little of my time. I find myself seeking perfection, even if it means I have to die again, and again, and again, and again in the pursuit of improvement ... or at least satisfaction.
  2. Post Void is a masterpiece of compulsive motion and hypnotic, irresistible sounds. It does something to my brain that I’ve never experienced before. [RPS Bestest Bests]

But needs some balancing and more enemy types and such. Feels more like demo than full game. Full Review »
