The state in which the game was released cannot be described as anything other than problematic. The game is very difficult to play without Discord friends, and it is rarely a pleasant and fun experience. [Issue#330]

Starbreeze promised the apex of the Payday series and delivered a game that looks last-gen that's nearly impossible to play thanks to the terrible matchmaking and the awful servers. This game is a joke and should be called an alpha version.

PayDay 3 is a better sequel than I wanted to believe, even better than his predecessor in terms of gameplay. However, it's not just PayDay 2's shadow that does a lot of damage to this game; Its unstable servers and illogical decisions against its own community.
  2. Payday 3 isn't not fun. The shooting is fine, the mastery of a crime feels good, the knowing where to go when and escaping with bags of ill-gotten gains! But Payday 3's level complexity requires a bit more active co-operating than your average 'go here, shoot thing' sort of co-op. The current skill gating also makes it harder to succeed unless you've already played quite a lot, which works against welcoming new players. As such, it makes it harder to have fun with strangers, which is arguably death for an online co-op game. It's not a massive plus, anyway.

There’s not many wholly new ideas within the mix of Payday 3, but it’s a sensible refinement of what those games tick, bringing in some interesting tweaks and gameplay changes to smooth the experience a little. All in all, Payday 3 is a welcome return for the heist ’em up series, and a reminder of why the first two games were so popular. [Review in Progress]
