    great game that was utterly ruined, thanks for **** it up. The game was fun, and although a lot of people thought the idea of getting a five dollar dlc each month was bad, i thought it was fine, but when it introduced the safes, it was just too much

    Microtransactions, Pay2Win, DLC Flood on a AAA title. That's not a game, that's a punch in the users face. Gameplay used to be fun though, especially when you play with your friends. It's a shame how this great game got ruined by greed.

    The payday 2 developers are (from observed) 1.unorganized 2.Untrained support 3.Very, very greedy. Making 40+ DLCs is apparently not enough for them, so they pull up with that cheap trick to lure CSGO/TF2 people in.

    Microtransaction and the last updates were a punch in the face of the old loving PD comunity. I loved this game and spent loads of money. I did this with love. but this changed. They broke my heart. Dont buy or play

    I am sry for all the players. Goodbye PD. 858 hours of fun and true gaming love.

    Game is based on korean f2p micro hell. So, grindy as hell with tons of masks, patterns, weapon attachments etc. So of course they added drops that you have to pay to unlock. Wow, what a reward! Oh... did I mention this game is not f2p... it has tons of DLC plus the base game. Nickel and Dime you to death.     The fact that Overkill added micro-transactions that gives you stat-boosting weapon skins to go along with a $20 game with 28 DLCs and counting should give you an idea how much they are milking this game and only care about money.

    I am one of the few “whales” which paid full price on most of the DLC in the game. Altogether I’ve spent around close to $100 on a game that I’ve enjoyed and introduced many of my friends to join in my enjoyment in the past. I am    So many things to say, So little time.

I am disappointed as the game I knew and loved has died, and in its place, a shell off its former self as it goes microtransaction, and predictably Free to play (later on). I’ve logged aroun 400 hrs on this game. It was my stress relief after a long day’s work. Sadly since it seems Overkill is hellbent on implementing Microtransactions, I will have to move on.
    TL:DR, Stat boosting Microtransactions= Pay to win mechanics which ruined fun great game. New players won’t be able to experience what it was like before the new mechanics, so sad…

    TL;DR ♥♥♥♥ you Overkill

    I usually play Payday 2 religiously for about a month or so at a time. then take a break for about a month and rinse and repeat. Ive been doing this since it came out. it was about that time for me to start again and have completely lost interest. Ive bought every single piece of DLC they have released (only when on sale, because even without this    TL;DR ♥♥♥♥ you Overkill

Ive bought every single piece of DLC they have released (only when on sale, because even without this microtransaction ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ i still thought this game was a money hungry cash cow.) and you ahve officially lost a customer. The implementation of microtransactions in a $30 base value, and about $70 DLC list is absolutely atrocious.

    To start off the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that is the already existing DLC system they had, so many of the DLC they came out with has become vital to the gameplay experience, and without it the game honestly feels really stale. I cant help but think this was intended, and therefore nearly mandatory for players to put in their extra ~$20 dollars to get the full game experience. (most of the DLC is actually useless since alot of the new weapons they release are still suboptimal to the base game's weapons. I also put nearly no value on masks ~$20 dollars will get u the sniper pack, gage courier mod, and maybe a gage weapon pack for basically the full experience)
    The introduction of sniper rifles, which lets face it shouldve been in the base game, changed the play style of this game for many people. yet is only offered for the 7 dollar price point(at release). other packs like the gage courier mode which made it far easier to unlock weapon mods, which is already hard to find because its all left to chance, allowed players to get the mods they wanted more frequently, also gated by a 7 dollar price point (at release)
    There are so many simple things they have added to this game that are imperative to the PD2 experience that is each gated behind a $7 price tag that should have and could have been easily included in the base game.
    ALL WHILE THERE ARE SOME TERRIBLE PROBLEMS LIKE DESYNCRONIZATION AND TERRIBLE WEAPON BALANCE THAT HAVE BEEN AROUND SINCE DAY 1.

    Overkill lost my respect for a company even before this whole fiasco of microtransactions, yet i dealt with is because i still enjoyed playing with friends. But now i wouldnt trade a dog turd for any more of their lackluster DLC.

    CRIMEFEST UPDATE KILLED GAME R.I.P :( mtx in a p2p game = pay to play to pay .. crimefest was supposed to be extra content for us that we completed challenges for ( hard ones too !) for this we have been "rewarded" with an MTX shp in game with stat boosting weapon and mask skins ., DO NOT BUY THIS GAME !!!     I've spent in total about 1200 hours on this game, loved it to death, attempt and finished every mission including DLC missions in stealth/loud/coop/solo. It's just so fun, so so fun, until they add Micro-transactions, at that point, I quit. They promised "No Microtransactions" then what happened? They slapped us in the face with that and put out microtransactions.

    Developers said this game would have safehouse customization. Over 2 years later this still isn't in the game.

    They also said this game would not have any microtransactions, over 2 years later the game now has microtransactions.

    Playing since 2013, now it is full of bugs and the new heists lag. Not to mention that developers had to rush microsanctions that bugs become uncorrected and very low new content quality....but they're for free so I guess OVK did not bother.

Point is that this system isn't just a cosmetic bonus because weapons skin (which aren't extras: they replace the usual, free rewards after a successful heist) give BONUSES, turning this game into a pay2win. Also, as if it weren't enough already, the microtransaction came with a complete rework of weapon stats, which made them completely unbalanced and broken, thus forcing the players to pay for skins to have their loved gun viable again.
    This kind of disloyalty to the fan-base should not be tolerate nor supported; do not buy this game    … Expand

    I could repeat what ever other reviewer is saying right here, but I'll just sum it up in one simple word; Microtransactions. Payday 2 truly is a fun game, but is sadly ruined by Overkills hunger for cash.

    I really pains me to write this review. This used to be such a good game. I am not sure exactly where it was when the developers lost their way.

    The game used to be about 4 guys robbing banks and stores and a variety of of other heists.     They started pumping out DLC for the game (4.99 a pop) that included characters, inferior weapons, masks, melee weapons no one uses. Granted people thought some of these weapons would be cool....but A Rocket launcher, a Flamethrower, Bow and Arrow, A Vulcan Mini Gun, World War II crap and now Ninja Items...really?

    The few new maps that have come out have been riddled with bugs and have come at a premium price usually around 6.99 and that was for a single map, a few new pointless achievements, some cosmetics like masks and of course usually a few more melee weapons no one uses.

    There are still countless bugs in the game that have never been fixed since its launch yet new pointless DLC keeps getting pumped out.

    Then the kicker for me came when they decided to make money in the game absolutely pointless. It used to cost a lot of money to go up into the Infamy levels past your first 100. They decided after the first 5 you no longer had to pay for it. So people quit looting anything except what was necessary to complete mission to get it over as quick as possible to get exp to level up.

    The game has lost its way and is nothing but a cash cow for the developers....it almost feels like they have contests to see how pathetic of a DLC they can make and then take bets on how many people will actually buy it.

    They promised to address many issues like the Infamy System and others after the community complained loudly. They never did and their promises now more than ever just look like they were trying to shut the community up.

    They have added micro transactions now after promising from the beginning this would never happen and again are now "promising" to address the concerns at a later date. I think the community is finally done being fooled by empty promises.    … Expand

And then it happened micro transactions on top of countless amounts of DLC. Dishonesty. Greed. and worst of all a level ofI have been playing this game since day one. Ever since the first DLC launched i had a nagging suspicion that it would only continue and a single stop purchase game would eventually take advantage of me for enjoying it. My AK went from 70 dmg to like 59.9, really, decimals?! Not only am I mad about that, the wepSo, I played this game a fair amount of time, and seen every nook and crany.     The developers lied and their business practices are very shady.

    Not only do you have to pay to open crates in the game but the skins give you stat boost effectively making the game more pay2win then it already is. Not only that but the crates also give you skins for DLC guns that you haven't even bought.

Also promised no microtransactions, but oh well. Lying is a thing. I'd be lying if I'd say this is a good company. The game isn't what is's used to be.

    Why the hell add microtransactions? Its a 4 Player coop not a competitive game with 20+ players and you want to show off.

    With over 637 hours playing before the update the weapons are now nerfed and have to buy keys to unlock skins that bring the stats back. Even on DLC that you paid money for previously.

    I was all set to wait and see if you managed to salvage this new "weapon balance" that you pushed without any real testing or knowledge of the metagame.

    But now? I just played the new free heist. It would be marginally more fun than the Armored Transport heists if it weren't a BLATANT advertisement for your new crate system full of microtransactions that YOU PROMISED would never be in the game.

    I loved the first Payday. I loved this Payday. I was so happy to have Almir respond to a post I made on the Steam forums just hours after I bought this installment of the franchise. I believed fervently that this was a developer that cared about its community. I convinced so many of my friends to buy it and try it out. I bought gift copies for the holdouts. I bought DLCs at full price even if they didn't wow me because I wanted to support you guys and watch you make the best game you could.

    Just added microtransactions in the form of skins that give stat bonuses. Also, they completely destroyed the balance of the game with a back-to-back weapons 'rebalance.' Have 1400+ hours sunk into the game and played it every day and this alone made me stop playing. They need to seriously fix this.

    It's sad really. Over the course of a single day Payday 2 turned into a hollow shell of the game it once was. I used to love playing this game every day and now I can't even look at the desktop icon I have for it. I'm really hoping I will be able to change my review if Overkill decides to do some thing, but for now, this is just a P2W ridden buggy shooter. Spend your money elsewhere.

    Welcome to Pay2Winday 2 where your levels don't matter and our skins have stats. Not only a mass amount of dlc to purchase (over $100) but now you can roll for a chance of a better gun than normal for a small fee. Microtransactions are the end of this game I'm sure.

    The most egregious part is the fact that there's no way to get these mechanical benefits without paying. It would be one thing if you had to pay for purely cosmetic effects but not for mechanical effects - that's what most other well-received micro-transaction games like CS:GO, TF2, and Planetside 2 do - but that's unfortunately not the case here. Don't get me wrong - I'd still be irritated by their addition, since the dev team promised several times not to use mico-transactions if they took a page out of Valve's book. But I wouldn't be recommending you stay far away.

    Hopefully they'll come to their senses and alter course. But until they do, avoid this game. Don't support behavior like this.    … Expand

Play, play, play and get a "reward" that you have to buy keys for half the price of a DLC to unlock a RANDOM skin that gives you some extra stats. And on top of that if the weapon is a DLC one, you have to buy that DLC to use it. Worse company than Ubi and EA combined.

    Don't buy this game, Overkill is submerged in greed and they don't care about their community, microtransactions and a bucket load of dlc. Pay to win in a pve game, spend your money on something else instead.

    I wanted to like this game, I really did. But when I finally bought it at a friend's urging and started playing, it was kind of disappointing. The game itself is quite repetitive with what you have to do in it, and not very exciting. The AI is quite dumb, both the bots and the enemies. So it's not much of a challenge to take down enemies. The game is also plagued with bugs and glitches and just annoyances in general. Why can they not get ladder mechanics right? And why can't these bugs and glitches get fixed?

    Oh right, because they're so concerned with making money off of the metric butt ton of DLC that they want to push on you, and now to add insult to injury, they've also implemented microtransactions in the game. I don't understand why they can't do weapon packs and map packs like other, more respectable games do. Instead they flood you with DLC everywhere, a new gun, a new heist, a new heister... it's all too much. Like someone on my Steam friendslist said in their review, 'EVERYTHING IS BEHIND A PAYWALL.' Granted, I know that I don't need to get every DLC myself, but someone has to buy it if they want to play with it. So if it's not me buying it, one of my friends has to.

    Basically, other than the in-game downfalls, the amount of DLC (and greed from the developers) has really put me off from the game, and I cannot recommend it to anyone. Once I heard about the microtransaction fiasco, I uninstalled the game for good from my PC.

    Oh, and what about the console ports? I heard that those weren't getting any support either, which isn't cool. Seems like there's no options for playing this game, so you may as well not even bother with it.    … Expand

Don't get me wrong it is a fun game to play with your friends, but if gamers keep allowing this shoddy business practice to happen we will never see change. Stop supporting bad business.     PayDay 2 is one of the nicest surprises of the year. Overkill Software understands the atmosphere of gangster movies and wisely improves these pieces of gameplay, that might have been disappointing in the first game. The sequel is better in almost every way - you can play a thief and enjoy good character development and shooting systems. I really hope, that PayDay 3 will be even better.
