May 30, 2025Pax Augusta is a unique take on Roman-era city building, with a focus on slow development and modularity. The effort to come as close to actual history as possible, when it comes to both buildings and citizen needs, is laudable. The fact that one developer created this entire video game is even more impressive. The cities look good, even if citizens tend to behave in relatively weird ways. But the game does need to improve performance and find better ways to deliver feedback, especially when it comes to building restrictions. Any fan of classics like Caesar or more titles like Manor Lords will have fun with Pax Augusta as long as he gives the game time and attention.

Apr 30, 2025Pax Augusta isn't a game for quick starters or those who prefer a more relaxed approach – but that's precisely where its strength lies. Roger Gassmann's passion project transports fans of building games into an authentic, meticulously detailed interpretation of ancient Rome that skillfully combines gameplay depth, historical accuracy, and moral decisions.

Apr 28, 2025Impressive city builder with great details, that'll often have players at a loss because of it's nontransparent mechanics.
-
Apr 28, 2025Pax Augusta is incredibly authentic and detailed and anyone who loves historical dioramas will be utterly entranced by it, though its actual city-building gameplay has room for improvement — both design-wise and in technical matters.
-
Apr 24, 2025Ambitious and motivating, but still capable of improvement in some areas: The quasi-one-man project Pax Augusta has as much charm as it does potential, but still suffers from handling and comfort weaknesses.

Apr 23, 2025I had a great time playing Pax Augusta, and while it’s a niche game for a niche audience, anyone who has fond memories of playing historical city-builders will enjoy this breath of fresh air. A game built with real care and attention in a developer’s spare time, self-taught with YouTube tutorials. The fact the game is half as good as it is an incredible feat of development.

May 23, 2025The building effects are well developed and its fundamental mechanics prove to be entertaining. The graphics are also a positive talking point, creating a realistic feel that can transport the player a few thousand years back. However, Pax Augusta — at the time of review — remains incredibly unpolished and riddled with bugs, some of them which simply can’t be ignored. It’s clear that the developer put time and passion into this project, and if the bugs can be ironed out, it will be a solid title for history and city-builder fans to enjoy.

Apr 23, 2025Pax Augusta is an ambitious solo project that lets you build historically accurate cities, offering a creative and educational experience. It has great ideas and can be quite relaxing. Unfortunately, it struggles with some basic user-friendliness issues and is currently plagued by too many technical flaws to be fully playable, where you might easily find yourself stuck in an endless loading loop or encountering other bugs that ruin your progress.
