Park Beyond

Park Beyond is one of the best theme park simulators I have played. It does miss some features I would have liked to see, such as theme park minigames and a more on-ground experience, but what it does is done well. The coaster-building systems are great, and the business management systems have a lot of depth. The price is a little steep, but I definitely recommend getting the game whenever it is on sale. It might even be a great game on the Steam Deck if compatible.

Whilst offering up very little from its clear influences, Park Beyond is a fun and visually thrilling theme park sim that offers a central mechanic which gives it quite the edge in the genre. It’s still hair-tearingly frustrating in places but has enough creativeness and inventiveness about it to hold the attention of long-term theme park simulator fans.

Park Beyond comes with some intriguing ideas, some technical flaws, and some compromises to make. It's good at entertaining those who want to unleash their creativity by building the theme park they've always dreamed of and newbies to the genre, but those looking for a managerial soul to lose sleep over and their sanity might want deeper and more challenging gameplay.

Have you spent a lot of time in games like Theme Park, Planet Coaster etc.? Then you will also spend many entertaining hours with Park Beyond. The campaign could be a bit longer, but the eight missions offer a lot of variety and nice challenges. And then of course you have the sandbox mode with its 27 great maps. There's no question that randomly generated scenarios, a map-sharing option and a multiplayer mode would have been nice extras, but hopefully they'll follow in the form of further patches that also fix more of the remaining bugs.

Park Beyond has a very powerful theme park editor and gives the player a great deal of freedom. Unfortunately, the management component is not as deep and lacks unpredictability, two things that limit the longevity of this type of experience.

Park Beyond may lack a bit of meat on its bones, but it's a mostly stress-free park building experience nonetheless.

Park Beyond is a fabulous theme park builder with vibrant aesthetics, rock-solid controls and UI, and satisfying mechanics – and thanks to the power of impossification, the game has a much longer staying power and more variety than many other representatives of its genre. The game does exactly what it promises: It lets you build your wildest dreams.

Impossification and the roller coaster hooks are the best elements of Park Beyond; very nice, and they actually offer something new. In terms of customizing your park and adding details, the game does very poorly compared to what we already know from the king, Planet Coaster, partly due to bugs and glitches. If you don't want to bother with that much, this is an entertaining amusement park sim.

All things considered, Park Beyond is an experience that we would like to recommend to you if you are a lover of management based on theme parks. If, like us, you have been lovers of RollerCoaster Tycoon and all the subsequent heirs of that winning formula, the new work by Limbic Entertainment and Bandai Namco could enrapture you for dozens and dozens of hours, while not consistently altering the most tried-and-true canons of the genre and net of an evident uncertainty on the technical and artistic side.

Park Beyond really knows how to add something to the genre with its original attractions, without going completely crazy. The foundation is also surprisingly solid, with intuitive mechanics to manage your park's finances and human resources. But due to the lack of diversity in attractions, the poor control when placing objects and a handful of bugs, the full potential is not yet fully realized.

Theme park and coaster sims have come a long, long way since Rollercoaster Tycoon hijacked my free time. Park Beyond is a generally approachable and inviting sim that’s definitely not for the realism-minded. Its campaign is held back by an unpredictable and not well-explained economic model, but it’s pretty easy to get lost in the sandbox, enjoying the intentional impossibility of your creations.

Park Beyond, which wanted to bring a new flavor to the Tycoon genre, failed to use its full potential. It has the capacity to become much better by solving various technical and in-game problems.

Park Beyond will certainly provide you with a few fun evenings full of crazy construction shenanigans. It’s a relaxing game and lets you be creative, more so than some of its competitors, games which concern themselves with such silly concepts as physics and its laws. But apart from that, Park Beyond doesn’t really offer anything extra. There’s not much content and the game doesn’t really feel completely finished.

Park Beyond feels like a throwback to the tycoon games that crowded shelves twenty years ago, intent on recapturing the more manic elements of a genre that sobered up over time. Players interested principally in simulating the management of an actual business might find that Park Beyond's quirks could drag it behind competitors. For gamers looking to scratch the imaginative itch, however, the game rises to the mantle admirably, encouraging the devious designs and flights of fancy that other games might reject. A little more polish could make Park Beyond great, but even with some rough edges, its charm is largely irresistible.

Park Beyond is a unique experience that has a huge amount of potential that’s not entirely been released yet. I experienced a number of visual glitches in particular and there are still some core features that feel absent. While I don’t need to do a deep dive into micro-management I do wish I could set patrol areas for staff, instead of just restricting their duties. I didn’t even find a way to move them or call them to a specific ride. You just have to Impossify them and trust in their jetpacks and the AI. Things like this feel like an oversight that I hope is changed as the game progresses.

Park Beyond is a decent game for fans of the theme park simulation genre, its gameplay is solid enough, and there are many options to choose from when building the park of our dreams. It lacks originality, though, and there are still quite a few bugs and glitches that can negatively impact players' experience.

Park Beyond is a spectacle to behold with some great ideas, but the glitter and lights don’t quite hide the shaky foundations that desperately need some repairs.

Even with its twisted takes on nostalgic ride designs and copious whimsical fanfare, I was left feeling deflated by Park Beyond's business-oriented objectives and lack of investment in unbridled player creativity. For a game that endeavors to push the limits of your imagination, it's a little too concerned with whether you’re tall enough to ride.

There are some technical issues yet to be solved in Park Beyond, but the game does a pretty decent job in giving you the control of your own theme park. Yet, the experience is very limited and can't fully deliver the vibe that creative players legitimately expected.

This game could have been on par with Theme Park or Rollercoaster Tycoon and maybe someday – after numerous patches – it will be. But for now, it is a disappointment to all the fans of amusement parks, rollercoasters, and haunted houses.

Park Beyond is not a bad game, far from it, but it will only fully satisfy the curious, those who have never really had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a real management game, or who have neither the desire nor the time to devote to it. In a way, Park Beyond can even be seen as an introduction to the subject. It's a refreshing first step, thanks to its totally surreal coaster concept, but one that will struggle to satisfy aficionados of the genre. But it's not all doom and gloom, far from it, as the title still has plenty to offer, with a highly entertaining campaign that will keep you on the edge of your seat for over a dozen hours, and a sandbox mode. But there's no need to wait any longer or look for what's hidden beneath the surface.

Park Beyond starts from a very difficult position, but if the developers manage to fix the bugs and continue to develop the game, it could one day become number one in the park tycoon genre. But there's still a very long way to go, with the most vexing issues being the numerous bugs and underdeveloped management systems.

As much as it inspires fun, the larger your theme park ambitions grow, the more Park Beyond throws extreme roadblocks in your way. There is still hope it finds a more wholesome balance in the future, but for now, the quest for the perfect park feels unfairly locked away.

Despite its veneer of limitless design possibilities, players are ultimately constrained in the types of attractions they can create and pursue during the campaign. While Sandbox mode is your best bet for getting creative with all the bells and whistles Park Beyond has to offer, it too is not immune to the myriad of glitches and technical issues present throughout the game. Although you can spend hours designing and constructing your ideal park, the looming threat of crashes diminishes the incentive to do so, even in Sandbox mode. While there is an innovative theme park sim beneath all the glitches and design flaws, Park Beyond ultimately doesn’t break new ground in its genre and would benefit from taking a few pointers from its predecessors.

Park Beyond does a great job tapping into the childhood whimsy that theme parks can elicit. There's a great sense of wonder to be had by impossifying rides, and the simple interface makes it easy to do. Incrementally unlocking new rides and increasing park capacity is rewarding, and creating something utterly ludicrous can be a blast. But that joy dissipates quickly when parks become unmanageable, as the attendees get stuck, staff ignores pressing needs, and financial ruin springs seemingly out of nowhere, while bugs and crashes make a late-campaign difficulty spike a miserable slog. Like riding an unfinished roller coaster, there’s fun to be had until the eventual crash, but it feels like this park just isn’t ready to be opened.
