Great game, great bug support, but no character generation or design.
You can't even choice appearance of crew so it's always looks pretty stupid even considering comic style.

I'm sorry but with all the hours of put in to this game I just found it boring as hell, there's so much repetition in this game , it's just extremely dull and nothing of interest, just like this review, booorrrrrriiiiinnnggggg.

One of the masterpieces. The game does not leave time for rest. Every step should be thought through, so as not to break the fragile infrastructure of the base. Constant updates and additions to diversify the gameplay.

This game is very addictive. The first time is the worst, but you get better fast. Once you learn the basics, the game starts to open up. You have to work with what you have, and it is a challange. You would be amazed how much you learn in actual real world science as well. When it was first announced, it was not good. But they did something and made this a masterpiece. Every step should be thought, if you do something wrong, then you're f#*cked.

I made the mistake of using the microbe musher for food as I thought that's what you are supposed to use. You are actually meant to research and farm as soon as possible.

I really dislike being shoved into a game blindly and feeling totally overhelmed and having no idea.

So I rate the game 5/10 for lack of helpful guidance that I think the game needs. There should be a third game mode called Newb mode where it has a proper good tutorial. And those that don't want help or like figuring it out themselves can choose the other modes.

I can't recommend as I find the game way too complex which causes the game not to be fun for me.

An hour in the game and I haven't managed to assign any task to anyone. Wherever I click I get a popup with a ton of text to read, but no action button anywhere. Apparently, keyboard shortcuts are mandatory. If that's the case, if the coders or vi or emacs didn't die virgins and had children who wrote software with the same level of interface retardation, then I'll rate them a zero asAn hour in the game and I haven't managed to assign any task to anyone. If that's the case, if the coders or vi or emacs didn't die virgins and had children who wrote software with the same level of interface retardation, then I'll rate them a zero as well. If not, if I'm missing something, then it's only the tutorial that I rate at zero. In any case, I don't have time to waste on incompetence.
Mind you, the game is text-super-heavy, which was a clue, and there is a UI scaling, which should be a positive, however when scaled up to a comfortable read, the popups don't fit fully on-screen any more; they are useless. Game makers not grasping that they don't need big icons, big permanent elements, they only need big fonts, for the texts that appear temporarily, one by one.
Also, not surprisingly, the game does not provide the entertaining ability to save progress during missions. Which means its entertainment value is a big fat ZERO. In fact, this is the case for any game that this company made, so their incompetence is not a case of amateurism but clearly of low intelligence.

An absolutely beautiful game in which you must lead your colony to survival. It is good for those who want a survival challenge without having to worry about monsters, but want to have to work with a number of different aspects and countless ways to combat problems.(Food= Grills= Heat= Cooling= Plumbing= Resources= Mining= Food. Good thing you start out with a fair amount of food...

I've put more hours into this game than I ever thought I would. I started playing in early access and they just keep patching in new features and smoothing out the old ones (in a good way). It's the kind of game that sits in my library and waits for me to launch it again. I then binge it for a week or two and then go back to other games until I decide to play this one again. I suspect it will remain installed on my machine long after other "AAA titles" have been played and discarded. There are just some games that have that "one more turn" appeal, and this one falls firmly into that category. Each cycle (day) more things get accomplished and more progress is made, and you look forward to the next one each time. There are still some confusing concepts and the difficulty has varied dramatically over the course of the development. I am still trying to decide if it's hit a sweet spot or if there are still pits/peaks on that front.

The short answer is that this is a fun strategy game that looks small at first but has an amazing amount of depth and complexity once you get into it.

Great alpha release so far. The game progression takes a bit to get used to. Effectively going from one emergency to another. Some come up slowly, others more quickly.

I thought I had power all sorted out when I found a gas vent. Found out later that the gas wasn’t producing as quickly as I had hoped leaving me with a huge power emergency mid game.

Can’t wait to see the finished product!

So I ended up not enjoying this game, but I'd still recommend it to... *most* people. Weird? Probably, but here's the thing: I would only recommend you do NOT play this game if, like me, you don't do well with technical jargon & math. Want an example: here's a line FROM A BEGINNER'S DISCUSSION on the game in a discussion thread:

"1 Steam Turbine's cooling equals (525-450)K*4.179kJ/kg/K*10kg/s=3134kw per second"

I can't cope with that statement, and that's JUST for one item within one branch of a whole bunch of stuff you need to balance.

Having said that? I did give it a couple hours of playtime to test it out. Because it is a seriously adorable game and I love it and wish I *could* play it. The animations are cute, the critters are cute, the characters are cute, even the dang materials are cute. The game as a whole is really well done and I'm sad that I tend to get confused when numbers and technical jargon start muddying the mix, because I really would like to play more! So yes, if the above sentence makes you ask "what's so confusing about that?" then you are probably gonna love this game, and you should buy it and play it now, and while you're at it, could you please enjoy it enough for the both of us?

This game suffers from typical indie company problems. It is very bad optimized and suffers performance problems, which makes the game unplayable in the lategame state, which is necessary to have to enjoy the game. Therefore just 1 point. Maybe write better code, this is embarassing

Devs also have good communication with community. The game is not perfect yet, it has so much potential to be even better and devs still continue to improve it too, which is great.

For indy game to be this fun, I have to give them 10/10. Cheap price, high quality and unique concept. It is not easy for me to give 10 you can check my account but This game deserve it totally. I will wait for dlcs and expansions.

Around cycle 350 to 500, the game becomes frustrating with taking up to a couple of minutes for the auto save function to perform its task, before the game will continue. It might appear that your game has crashed, but this is just how the game performs. This does not seem to be as reliant as system design as just the bottleneck in game design.

The speed up process also become a bad choice with any more than 16 duplicates, as the game takes the same amount of time to go through its checklist to see who performs what task, regardless of speed selected to play. This means that playing accelerated gameplay will result in an increase duplicate idle time ratio comparatively. When racing the clock on anything, always run in the slowest/normal speed, else you can end up wasting time and failing to accomplish tasks by their deadlines.

Be careful altering the priority settings, as this can essentially stun lock duplicates, making them do jitters instead of accomplishing anything. For some reason, if two tasks are equal in importance for a duplicate, they will sometimes (and often in later cycles) cycle between the two tasks, doing nothing but a two step shuffle between the first step towards each task, but no further. I found this especially problematic with tidy tasks between gathering ice and anything else. I had to set the resource box for the ice to a lower rating, so it would end up getting those last, which solved most of the two step shuffle issues.

The game performs excellent for the first 200 or so cycles, and is very fun, but after that, it because a race to patience versus success. I find that I reset the game often, starting over, just because I am tired of the auto save feature making the game play tedious. I consider this a major game issue, and would rate the game far more favorably if they can fix this. As is, this is a fun game that I recommend, but expect your patience to be tested if you venture through many cycles, instead of rush to the finish line.

I really like this game and wish there were more games like it. The game for the most part is really cool and good for everyone until automation comes in, not that it's too complicated but it just doesn't really fit in with the rest of the survival aspect. I got 122 hours out of this game until I stopped playing it. I had a blast. I died 4~ times and kept on replaying.

Due to the Steam Workshop support mods are great to install, but still tedious to search and find them as well as go over the struggle of a new patch and identify broken mods.

Steam Workshop support is great though.

While there are niggles to the experience, from relatively frequent frame rate drops at the start of each cycle and the AI occasionally getting confused to the game outright crashing (which is naturally quite frustrating), these issues seem like the aftermath of Early Access. With the game having a decent swell of community support and the developers just as keen to keep improving, Oxygen Not Included appears to be going onwards and upwards – or whatever direction you fancy, really.
