    An experiment to gauge the depths of humanity's stupidity. It went horribly right.

    Shallow gameplay + repetitive, poorly designed maps + incompetent matchmaker + vastly unbalanced characters = "Sign me up!" to a lot of people, apparently.

    After one year, I still feel like I paid too much for this game.

    • One new game mode : Capture the Flag, and it hasn't been optimised or balanced for capturing the flag compared to regular Quick Play. They simply droped a flag on the map. • Two new maps : Eichenwalde and Oasis. The other additions were already existing KOTH maps with different lightings ( like Illios during sun set )    After one year, I still feel like I paid too much for this game.

    • One new game mode : Capture the Flag, and it hasn't been optimised or balanced for capturing the flag compared to regular Quick Play. They simply droped a flag on the map.
    • Two new maps : Eichenwalde and Oasis. The other additions were already existing KOTH maps with different lightings ( like Illios during sun set ) or three tiny maps that were salavaged assets of previous maps for game modes that less than 25% of players use.
    • Three new characters : Including one that is 90% transparent in the lore departement even compared to the rest of the characters, and the three of them are yet to be balanced right.
    • No advancement concerning lore yet : One can wonder how long it will take to know even just half of the story.

    Maybe it will be full enough to be worth its price in 10 years.

    • The dev team is filtering the feedbacks and only answering to the complains they choose to aknowledge. For everything else, this is simply censoring. They play nice in videos where they say that the game belongs to he player base and thank you in messages, but that's where it stops when money's involved.
    • Their events are getting bigger each time and more impossible to complete either by playing or by paying. It's supposed to be gambling, but this is steadily leaning more towards only loosing. No win card. They had a systmey and keep changing it to milk their players of every dollar they can.

    If you want to buy this game, I heavily suggest that you wait for it to be on sale, and never spend a single penny on loot boxes. It's not worth it, and this supports Blizzard into filtering communication with the community.    … Expand

    Polished garbage. Game has no balance to speak of and continues to get worse each patch. New heroes are released at a snail's pace. Maps are completely unbalanced. Patches are always focused on profit over player enjoyment. Developers have zero game sense. No story, no single player. Anything interesting is patched out eventually.

    The Overwatch team sucks at fixing clear issues with the game, the community is toxic, the competitive system is bad, and the maps are awful. The only good things I see are the events, and some of the game modes. Overall it is not a fun game, and i do not recommend you waste your money.

    The problems, well the game is limited, essentially there is very little variance between the game modes at all. Although they are initially fun, they pretty much play the same. As for the actual gameplay, not much skill required, it's pretty much like moving from snooker to pool. Very difficult to miss unless you are trying to miss. Also it's pretty annoying suddenly dying at 100% health for no particular reason.
    Next is the social element, to be honest most players that I am on the same team with tends to be less competent then the computer at the easiest setting. Additionally I tend to report at least one player every time I play, players refuse to actually realise what the game is about i.e. teamplay instead follow their own agenda and let the teammates die horribly. Also those players who cannot play at all and blame other people on their team.
    To be honest the game has potential like TF2 in the early days before it became free to play and became as appealing as a crack whore with crabs.
    The main difference between this and TF2 is that TF2 has more variety, but unfortunately this game just cannot manage the competitive element. As well as the classes being completely unbalanced and team members not wanting to participate as a team.

    To be honest I am waiting for Unreal Tournament 4, at least the bots would be a challenge!    … Expand

    Nope, just nope. MOBA with guns. Just like a MOBA, totally unbalanced. Have a tank with 600 HP? Die in 3 seconds because... i don't know, i really don't know. Played half a match? Have some lag. For these graphics i expected a lot more performance, totally dissapointed. Go back to Warcraft Blizzard... Also the "journalists" rating is waaay more than it deserves, I mean 100??

I've played 3 competetive seasons by now and i'm definetely not planning to return anytime soon.     Pros:
    1) Good optimisation? (not sure)
    2) Presence of some kind of lore and lore-connected content (Overwatch doesn't have real complete lore, plot or story it just has few articles on each hero's bio and some comics and shorts; even DOTA2 technically has better story implementation, although it doesn't have official short movies)

    Cons:
    1) Overwatch team prioritise money over content making. Instead of adding new heroes more often than once in 3-4 months and new DIFFERENT (not "slightly different maps with other textures") maps, new mechanics and rules they just create completely useless, boring and repetitive "events" which usually introduce one casual gamemode and pile of dreadful cosmetic items (most of them have really bad quality) to make kids more excited and sexually aroused than normally.
    2) Overwatch team completely ignores game bugs and balance issues. For the AAA game overwatch has too many issues with that, which are not fixed or fixed partially after a huge period of time.
    3) Overwatch team totally ignores feedback from competitive players. Moreover, blizzard community office tries to pretend to be responsive by making dev's diaries and organising drama on their forums.
    4) Overwatch is just boring to watch and play. Blizzard just did a really bad job trying to develop Team Fortress's genre by adding heroes. Every game is the same, teamfights are won by those who charged their ults first and in the remaining time teams are just standing near objectives behind shields or cover (of they're flanking) and charging their ults again. That's it. I don't see any reason why i should explain why watching cybersport matches is dreadful (same picks, same spicks, same strategies).
    5) Competitive gamemode and low skill cap. Even thought this game costs about 40$, the game is filled with inadequate whiners, leavers, complete noobs. I dare say that i enjoyed playing competitive dota, cs:go, RTS's and so on much more than competitive overwatch.

    I could go on and review each specific issue with this game and each of blizzard's failures, but generally i said what i wanted to say. This game has no future in pro scene, unless blizzard will change their course and start to actually work on their game. This game just deserves online of 100k people on each platform, not more. Just don't buy it and wait until they'll make this game cost 20$ or free and add other microtransactions (apart from lootboxes).    … Expand

    ever since Diablo 3's always online marketplace, I knew this company had such terrible ideas to rip their customers off.

    The game is chopped into bits to sell more of this stuff.
    While their base games have quality art in them, ugh just rather support smaller or indie companies.

Let's recap on some of the things that happened: My friend got made fun of for having a mexican accent, someone died because I was zenyatta and couldn't get over to then fast enough and spammed "I need healing" the entire game, someone threw because I didn't rez them and I got specifically singled out for losing because I played support, someone begged me to go tank because I'm "bad at support" so I changed and then someone completely different got angry at me for switching because he wasn't getting healed and some one admitted that "dude, I'll be honest, I am so stoned rn" and I had the new Star Wars spoiled. Also no one talks about how weirded out people are by roleplayers, they make my friends and I uncomfortable. Can't you make your own servers to keep that kind of stuff private in? I'm going back to playing modded Diablo 2, forget this.… Expand

    Blizzard is generally a company with excellent Games and outstanding quality, however Overwatch is no such thing.

    Originally Overwatch was a first person MOBA Game that required team play and team communication to win. With different Heroes being good at different Things in their own Way. This used to be its Soul, which sadly has been completely destroyed.

    Quick Play is now just a mode for you to try out heroes and get lucky. Arcade surprisingly is where people actually try and win, because each third win will get you a lootbox, for up to 3 Lootboxes.

    Competitive Mode is completely destroyed, thanks to smurfs and Boosters. You can go and google "overwatch boosting" and find millions of people that boost you up to any rank you want via their smurf accounts. This is especially frustrating when you try and want to get better in the game by ranking up. To explain this a little bit better this is the current state:
    Grandmasters & Master cant connect to anybody that isnt within 500SR Range, however if they make a new account they can play with anybody they want and stomp any SR below them.

    This Game does not require team play anymore, thanks to heroes being nerfed to either being unplayable or buffed to do the max dps possible (yes even the medics). Whats the point in taking Widowmaker a defense hero on defense? If Ana the medic sniper can do more Damage.

    The Game is not only incredibly unbalanced it is also rather unfair, especially when it comes to matchmaking.

    As long as smurfes arent banned from the Game the Competitive Mode will never work correctly.

    It seems Overwatchs Priority lays on one thing and one thing only, Lootboxes & Money. As they showed recently by adding a new currency you can only get by paying real money. Microstransactions in a 60€ Game is absolutely disgusting.

    So is Overwatch recommandable? Not at all, Overwatch has lost its Soul and its Charm. The Developer Team has been arguing within development and it shows its lack of love towards the game. Heroes have been completely rehauled making the game even more unbalanced then it was before.

    If it doesnt speak in Dollar Signs Overwatch does not care what you have to say. When they say they listen to the community, they mean we listen to the 1 percent of streamers and League players.

    When Mercy first got her complete revamp there was a 200+ page thread of people being against it, but nothing.

    The Team of Overwatch has completely gone off track and using it just to get money. Do not buy the game and dont support such greed!    … Expand

    Absolutely abysmal matchmaking. Jeff Kaplan announced via livestream recently that the team does not consider forum feedback for decision-making. Do not buy until Blizzard decides to change.

    The game suffers from many flaws which I believe will give the player a bad experience. First, if you don’t have a group of friends who play this game, do not bother. This game punishes solo players with its competitive mode match-making system which is very flawed. You’ll constantly be grouped with toxic uncooperative players..

Obviously, it is greatly important how good you are at the game, but you cannot do anything on your own even if you are the best player out there. The team setup has to be well-thought, with some hero combinations being clearly more prone to success than others, but ironically nobody really cares. Playing in a team that picks 5 dps characters and you play the only support is not uncommon, but the funny thing is that most of these players love to blame somebody else for their own selfishness. It feels as if they lose intentionally so that they can blame, fight and argue with somebody.

    Another problem that only fuels the previously mentioned fault of the game is the competitive matchmaking system. New solo players of skill must get ready for the so-called ELO hell. The system matches you against either worse or better players, so that you can get your dose of winning, however when the system decides it is time for you to lose, it is going to pair you with clearly worse players so that you have no chance (just check the stats!). For example, sometimes you are going to play against a team of a higher rank, but being matched with people that have much lower stats than you. Overall it feels that the matchmaking system has been designed to artificially pull you down the ladder so that it would take you more time to climb, meaning more money for the company.... A very bad money-grabbing practice.

    The third problem of the game is that it suffers from a lot of balance issues, with some characters being much stronger than others. This is an issue that is practically unsolvable, considering the different roles and skills each character has. As a player, you get adjusted to how everything works, but you notice some character interactions being unfair, such as some characters being unable to make any dps to a tank, or others instakill a healer. Character redesigns do not fix the real problem, sadly.

    But not everything is bad stuff.. All the characters have been designed very well, with attention to details of their personality, skill, attitude, etc.. The game levels are beautiful, vibrant and open to different scenarios, however, there are not nearly enough. The game has been programmed and polished very well, being able to work on older hardware, too. The fast pace of the action has been captured quite well, with the right design choices holding everything well together.

    All in all, Overwatch most definitely is not a bad game, however, it suffers from the same problems other Blizzard games have - greed. My observations lead me to believe that most of the player frustration comes from the horrible matchmaking that intentionally disrespects the solo player.    … Expand

    Overwatch is a game in which your success is dependent on your teammate's competency levels, to which you will often find is very very low. Matchmaking often ends up with 5 dps players, with me being the only healer or tank. Pass on this one.

    People are so busy talking about their ranks and talking down to someone with a lower rank, even when playing gamemodes where that doesnt mean anything.

    - Кривой матчмейкер. Джефф Каплан подтвердил существование скрытого ммр, по которому подбирает в ранкеде. Подбирает так себе: постоянные лузстрики чередуются винстриками, в итоге прыгаешь на 2-3 лиги порой из 7 возможных. Невероятно глупо и фрустрирующе.
    - Идиотский дизайн. Все красиво, но при более тщательном рассмотрении понимаешь, что на тщательно проработанных картах ты постоянно застреваешь в каком-то невпопад расположенном мусоре, а на особо чувствительных героях нифига не видишь из-за спецэффектов и нескрываемых маркеров.
    - Порочная идея командности с рандомами. Как вы себе это вообще представляете, да еще и на совершенно разных героях?
    - Почти нулевая поддержка для русскоязычного населения. Полгода пытался достучаться до техподдержки по поводу резко появившихся просадок фпс, в итоге купил новый комп быстрее. За год мне никто не помог и даже не ответил. Ххтьфу, позорные клоуны.
    - Коммьюнити. Уже отфильтровано, норм пацаны ливнули, остались только отчаявшиеся, как я, и больные на голову. Вторых гораздо больше кста. Игра сжигает до шкварок и сводит с ума даже самых стрессоустойчивых чуваков, единственный выход - полностью забить на то, что ты делаешь, и утратить счет времени своей жизни. Но это не нормально, это лечить надо.
    - Баны. Просто по приколу, по накопительной системе за репорты, БЕЗАПЕЛЛЯЦИОННО, в том числе на форуме. Годно? Ну, вообще нет.
    - 0 контента. 29 героев, ни пиков, ни банов, нифига нет. Кастомки лишь, которые обесценены, на кой черт надо? Скинчики, ивенты, все уже было.

    Ну, и в итоге хотите ли вы за это платить? За игру с токсиками, которая сожжет ваши нервные клетки, ничего не предложив взамен, и в которой вас забанят при первой же попытке хоть что-то донести до скота, играющего в это, словами? Конечно нет.

This usually happens in every game, making the experience very dissatisfying. Unless you are willing to deal with bad teammates and very bad toxicity, this is not a good purchase.

Not only is it masking the issue, imo it's encouraging toxic players to continue their behaviour because they are misled to think that they're not. Report system doesn't do **** most of the time either because you just queue up with the same toxic players that really ruin your day. I am by no means a serious player either, just casual wanting to have fun BUT this game has reached an all time low where I login, play 1 game and log out immediately. Nothing fresh, no fun to offer. Heck I'd even play chess or mindsweep over this garbage.

    Just a handful of things that make Overwatch a 0/10 game, in no particular order:

    - queue times are crazy (15+ minutes to find a game is the norm in most popular modes; in less popular ones it can go beyond 60 minutes) - it's extremely repetitive, and not in a fun way: you shoot at endless shields for 2 minutes then all 12 players use their ultimate abilities all at once and one team    Just a handful of things that make Overwatch a 0/10 game, in no particular order:

    - queue times are crazy (15+ minutes to find a game is the norm in most popular modes; in less popular ones it can go beyond 60 minutes)
    - it's extremely repetitive, and not in a fun way: you shoot at endless shields for 2 minutes then all 12 players use their ultimate abilities all at once and one team dies, rinse and repeat; Overwatch is as uninteractive as a game can be
    - most maps are garbage and there is no map vote
    - most maps are basically the same long tunnel-like structure except reskinned
    - your weapon covers up half the screen and you can't hide it
    - the matchmaker forces a 50% winrate (the more you win, the worse teammates you get); in practice, this means that all matches are one-sided stomps with only one team having a fighting chance (you know a game's bad when even winning doesn't feel good because you can clearly tell your win was forced by the matchmaker and you just pressed some buttons to achieve the inevitable outcome, losing's even worse but only slightly)
    - the power level of heroes is out of balance; less than half of the 30-hero roster is playable
    - the game has a report system that punishes players automatically based on just the number of reports submitted against them; what this basically means is that there is a neverending global kickvote against you that only stops when you get kickbanned and resumes as soon as you come back (!!!); because the system is fully automated, false/excessive reporting doesn't get punished resulting in people submitting reports on a whim meaning if you play the game a lot, you WILL eventually get suspended just because (this sounds like a sad joke but it's the truth; I suspect they introduced this asinine system to "encourage" you to purchase additional copies of the product)
    - the competitive mode is an absolute joke; solo and group queues are combined (not joking!!!) and it's common to see people from three different skill tiers in the same match (a byproduct of the game having very few players left I guess, but still: this shouldn't ever be allowed to happen)
    - the game is pretty much in maintenance mode; new content is sparse and typically makes the game even worse than it was before (for example, new maps they add are typically just reskinned old maps that nobody liked and new heroes are just a combination of several existing heroes which makes these old heroes largely obsolete)

    The time to get into and play Overwatch was at release and ~6 months thereafter. That's when the game had a healthy playerbase and was actually fun to play. Now it's dead. $19.99 (its current price) isn't much but why flush that money down the toilet? It'll probably go free-to-play soon anyway. Plus, mobile-focused loot box peddlers like Activision-Blizzard don't deserve your money.    … Expand

There is so much variety in the game that will keep you entertained for hours. The developers always make constant updates to the game to keep it balanced. Everything hillarious about this one: unballansed set of heroes to play, absense of matchmaking (you can get ~90% loses), a wide range of damage dealers with no any choise in meta tanks/healers and so on.     Every few months, the devs add another terrible character with cheap abilities who is inevitably overpowered for months or years and extremely frustrating to deal with, turning this once great game into more and more of a mess as time goes on. Don't bother with this trash.

    Blizzard is telling everyone they deal with hackers but overwatch is the most easiest gaming platform to hack on. Worst of all people are making hackers that are better then blizzard's anit-cheating system meaning the anti-cheating software cant tell. Blizzard is doing nothing to improve the anti-cheating software and hackers are ruining everyone's experience in overwatch

I was around gold bracket as dps//healer after role que i was placed as low bronze dps and high bronze healer..... I always get throwers or brain dead teammates that might as well be throwing.     I'm certain that Overwatch will bring dozens of hours of fun to all lovers of dynamic online shooters. Focusing on one type of gameplay and an enormous attention to detail generated an excellent game. You have to appreciate the developers' sincerity when discussing doubts and problems with the community. Blizzard has done it again. You should see for yourself why so many players have fallen under Overwatch's spell.

    Overwatch is a punch to the face for multiplayer shooters. It mingles quick-fix, objective-based gameplay with a deep tactical core and intelligent meta, forming a game that is simply perfect in short bites and thoroughly satisfying to play for hours on end.
