    I don't know where any of the positive reviews have come from-unless it's the game devs and fanboys doing it themselves. The truth is, it's an Always Online game despite being listed as SINGLE PLAYER/ COOP. Servers are incredibly unstable, promised crossplay still doesn't work, and the game's matchmaking barely functions. When it does function, the game is bug ridden and tedious at bestI don't know where any of the positive reviews have come from-unless it's the game devs and fanboys doing it themselves. The truth is, it's an Always Online game despite being listed as SINGLE PLAYER/ COOP. Servers are incredibly unstable, promised crossplay still doesn't work, and the game's matchmaking barely functions. When it does function, the game is bug ridden and tedious at best while the endgame is pure repetition. The solution? Well, instead of adding content or fixing bugs ("supposedly" will happen in later patches) the devs decided to nerf classes and limit game styles.

    The single player part of the game is OK, although the story starts out like meh a bit, it get better later on. I quite enjoyed the game. However there are a lot of some issues that ruins the experience.
    Some game design issues around networking part are really bad, starting with matchmaking being immediately open, which came as a shock. You cannot choose specifically what you want to do, which expedition you want to go to, and since the matchmaking is for the lobby, where's no guarantee that the person you join to is actually doing the activity you signed up for.. 50--50 if they just stand in the camp, or do something completely different.. Story mode multiplayer ask you to confirm every little thing multiple times to ensure you are in the same instance and there are soo many instances that it's getting tedious after a short time..
    But the main reason I give the game a 0 is the instable, unreliable networking part and the mandatory sign-in at the beginning even if you play solo.
    The multiplayer part of the game is abysmally bad. Game is not able to log in about 40% of the time, 50% is crashing out of the console, crashing when you join a game, crashing when the host starts an activity, crashing when you finally tarts something, crashing when anybody else is crashing.. I'm playing a lot of games, but I can't recall in recent history anything that would be THIS BAD. The game had multiple alphas and beta tests, I can't believe the developers were not aware of the demand and the load balance they need to do on the servers, because it's unbelievable that these issues have not came out earlier.. The game can't manage to hold a stable game of multiplayer.. Ever since I started playing, I can't recall actually exiting a multiplayer game. It was always crashing out dropping me to tile, stuck in sign in etc..
    Every new game has issues, but the amount of network problems this one has put in in par with Anthem, even worse.. At least when I managed to log into Anthem in mostly hold the game at least, Outriders, can't even manage basic functionality.    … Expand

    So i got this game with the xbox game pass, and two friends asked me to play the game with them. Initially i didnt want to, since the game doesnt have a really good reputation but i love scifi and loot shooters so why the hell not. And to be fair, now after reaching ct15 and maxing out my character im still very split on recommending the game.

    Positives:
    + Satisfiying loot and equipment
    + Somewhat interesting world
    + Semi-deep class customization, though as always i hate meta builds being mandatory

    Negatives:
    - Cringeworthy dialogue (either be serious or comedic and not both), story that goes nowhere (the
    ending was a joke) and characters who cant stop talking, runing any sense of atmosphere on an
    alien world.
    - Very much wasted potential concerning the world and setting in general (i.e. reusing models for
    bosses, especially for the hunting missions where the monsters are supposed to be named
    individual beasts that you even bring back as a trophy, but then they all are just normal boss
    monsters in different colors, very dissapointing)( Alien natives, that end up as cannon fooder, with
    no background, no "alien" culture, no special traits beside one different captain.)( All factions use
    the same army tactics/units, even the aliens. Basically just different skins)
    - Always-Online which i will never stop hating
    - An insane amount of bugs. Lightning glitches, not properly functioning gear or passives, game
    crashing on startup and so on.
    - Somewhat weak feeling abilities.

    Again, i had fun with the game. But you can make anything fun with friends, so i dont want to use that argument. My main feeling with this game would be disapointed. The game has a lot of potential but who or what doesnt. And that doesnt matter if its wasted potential. As a loot, coop shooter its fun with friends when you need a game to not be bored. But it certainly isnt something i would want to play again in the future    … Expand

    Enjoyable at first but quickly becomes reptitive. Every encounter is the same - obviously placed cover with some grunts followed shortly by the boss. Game ranks up your gear just as you need it. Its linear, not open world, in case you're wondering. Dead world, nothing to do but go to the objective and repeat the formula. Really tried to enjoy it but there are no excuses for something soEnjoyable at first but quickly becomes reptitive.     More than 1 month after release, it quits because of ,,Outriders server problem". And you cannot play NOW (when I write this, 2021.05.08!) Oh, and I play it in single player mode, alone. So I cannot get it. But never buy this crap..

For the last two weeks, I've been stuck in one fight because the game loses connection to the servers and due to checkpoint saving I have to repeat the whole zone again and again and again (14 times atm). It did that on another occasion as well but then it was not as painful as I was able to get to another checkpoint time. Srsly, don't buy it on PC. It's anotherThis game does not work. Massive amount of bugs from inventory wipes, heavy stuttering, inability to sign into the always online game, gear/mods/skill trees failing to work at random on top of a horrible multiplayer experience plagued by heavy lag, rubberbanding and failure for skills/shots to register. Currently the game has been out for a month and a half and the only issue I listed that has been remedied is the inventory wipe, what was listed is also far from the full list of bugs. Updates are also slow and have introduced new significant bugs every patch.

    This game may end up worth playing if they can iron out all the laughably bad bugs and you can get it on sale for $20-30 or less.    … Expand

    absolutely a bastard game in technical terms. it's been 2 months since the release, but it constantly crashes and crashes 3-4 times in a couple of hours, or just disappears from the servers. this is especially "pleasing" during the passage of the expeditions. to the developers of "BRAVO".

    We all deserve refund on this game. There is no offline play for potential modding in the future. The game is way over priced and its not a AAA cause game devs with smaller budgets did way better then the 6 hour game call outriders. This game become redunded after you beat the game in 6 hours.

Now lets get too disecting the online experince its a p2p or commonly known as peer 2 peer witch uses the same style of connecting like a bit torrent witch is shared between one another like pirating. They kick people out of a end game content run so they get more loot and there is only 3 people.
    Also all your loot is saved on there sever so nothing you gain from this game is truly yours and they purposly did wipes of peoples gear. Understand the loot that is saved is no bigger then 10 megabytes in size and most people playing this game has 5 terabytes witch could save that data and they could have 20 more games with full of saved data.
    They also say this game is singleplayer well its not enjoyable when you hit lag spikes playing alone.
    I think you all get what im saying this game is far worser then cyberpunk 2077 like beyond far worse.    … Expand

    Начинается душный диалог, пафосное приземление, и маленькая локация, полностью закрытая невидимой стеной, идешь с нпц разговариваешь, очень интересно. Стрелять не дают, прыгать не дают, просто иди, слушай диалог. Дальше игра превращается в сплошной коридор, шаг в лево невидимая стена, шаг вправо, текстурка не пройти-перепрыгнуть.
    И тут до меня доходит, на пробел прячемся в укрытие, на контрол перепрыгиваем препятствие. Прыжков, приседаний и других итераций в игре нет. Персонаж не может перешагнуть лиану высотой до колена. И перепрыгнуть тоже, она слишком низкая для такой анимации. Офигенная опция, происходит что-то на фоне карты, за пределами коридора, появляется "Нажмите Е, чтобы наблюдать", вау как интересно, что чтобы наблюдать, я могу СМОТРЕТЬ не сам.

    Забрало падает. Соснольщики ликуют.

    Есть нормальные игры, а есть игры где ты прилипаешь к поверхностям, и стреляешь пока враг высунулся. Очень, очень, очень интересный геймплей. Кстати инерция в этой игре сосет, персонаж скользит влево вправо, как будто на льду.
    Начинается диалог - камеру трясет, стреляешь - камеру трясет (укачивает влево-вправо), часть катсцен пропустить можно, часть нет. Почему? Потому
    .Сюжет тупорылый, персонажи ходят по планете без шлемов и средств защиты, спорят, нарушают технику безопасности - сразу видно профессиОналы с большой буквы Г. Харизматичные? Ну разве что пше пше поляк.
    Каждый раз когда идешь по коридору и видишь бочки/столы/укрепления, значит всегда будет перестрелка, и враги всегда будут спереди. Расстановка как в шашках. Ты - укрепления - враги. Повторить и зациклить до конца игры, геймдизайн холе.

    Последними плевками в лицо были:
    Стрельба из снайперской винтовки только стоя, стрейф или движение и прицел начинает ходить быстрее тебя. Плюс при прицеливании он первые пол секунды дрожит как бы при вскидывании.
    Я кучу раз на пустом месте нажал абилку, затем применил на врагах и персонаж такой "Ух, это я сделал???". Ты что дегенерат, уже пятый раз подряд я применил этот скилл. Скрипты писал одаренный интеллектом.

    Это позор позора, эта игра делает все то, что другие лутер шутеры, но хуже. Я не люблю дестини, но она показалась мне просто шикарной по сравнению с этим калом.
    Подытожу: Это убогая версия дестини с видом от третьего лица, без прыжков и приседаний, с укрытиями и кастрированным функционалом. Как если бы у первого бордерлендса был ублюдок от Sci-Fi бомжихи с ужасной наследственностью.

    Купил игру и не играю потому что сервера переполнены. в 3 утра появляется места но я спать. Чтобы поиграть нужно уволится и играть с 5 утра до 17.00

    I was really excited for this game as fan of looters, I played Diablo 3 and Destiny 1 and 2 for the past few years. This game has so many issues it's insane.
    -The game crashes non-stop for random interactions, sometimes it crashes when you open a door, sometimes it crashes when you talk to a NPC.

    - Gameplay is: run there, clear the area, advance. there is not much brains needed
    - Enemies: pretty boring, mostly humans that are behind cover and monsters that charge you and minibosses that just walk towards you with some extra abilities.
    - Weapons: nothing unique, standard weapons as many other shooters.
    - Armor: looks cool, set bonus for legendary armor is a nice idea but really limited atm.
    - Abilities: even though they look cool, they get boring pretty quickly, I found myself change between skills and trees non-stop. Also some options in the skill trees make no sense. For example, on my technomancer i wanted a poison build so I invest heavily in the top tree but some really good poison perks are in the bottom tree for some reason??
    - Matchmaking: This must be the worst thing in the game. It is laggy as hell, it crashes the game but the worst thing is that it asks you what you want to play but if you randomly join someone for an expedition, that person can just decide to do other stuff instead of it or stand around. And why is that? Because the game just randomly puts you in a team with someone regardless of what they want to do or if they are even there. It happened pretty often that I stood in a camp and upgraded my gear, then randomly 1-2 people joined on me, I wasn't looking for people to join me. 8/10 players I joined are literally just standing there or want to do other stuff. Why not pool people together that selected an activity. It feels like Destiny LFG but nobody knows what the other one wants to do or if they are even there.
    - Builds: Anomaly infused bullets and ignore the rest. That's the meta, every enemy is a bullet sponge in this game, its the only viable way to deal damage. I tried all of the ablities on every class but everything else is significantly worse than the anomaly bullets. So with normal gunplay and the other abilities you do way too little damage but with anomaly bullets you melt everything in your way. In a party of 3 you can expect everyone to run Anomaly bullets with tricksters and technomancers using their slow and freeze abilities. So you end up shooting motionless enemies that will die in super fast. But I can't blame them, who wants to shoot an entire mag into one enemy.

    2/10, legendary armor and weapons look interesting and can give you a small extra to you build, rest is far under average.    … Expand

    Don't waste your time with this game, first impressions are always best but this one is horrible. Game crashes every 15 minutes, your level does not matter because you are 22 getting 27 gear just to still get one hit by the level 27s , the abilities feel useless and some are mildly good.

    I will never support SQARE ENIX AND PPL CAN FLY anymore... so disappointing, they did not learn anything from anthem and cyberpunk incident? why people get furious?? I dont understand why they did not even manage to stablize the server. How can I give a good rating when I can not even log in?? truly disappointing....my fxxckin 60 something bucks.

    Absolute unplayable. This game needs a internet connection to the outriders servers, you cant connect for the 3rd day in a row.
    If you actualy can connect after 1-2 hours of trying you get disconnect in between a mission and your progress is lost after reconncting. IF you actualy offer a game on release , on a 4 day easter holiday weekend , on the xbox game pass    DONT buy this game.

    All the 10/10 ratings are total BS. Anybody that looks online at steam forums can see thousands of posts complaining the game is unplayable and broken. OUTRIDERS is worthless because it requires a constant connection to their servers which are broken.

    First off, are the graphics...
    Graphically the game is very weak. Aside from some occasional nice lighting, It looks like a game from 5 years ago, at least. The character animations are weak and the mocap looks shoddy. Occasionally facial animations look bizarre, with characters showing their awful teeth and gums too much, or clothing physics jump around between camera changes, etc. The former being made worse by the truly awful character models. (See below). It also has one of the most pathetic character creation tools I've ever seen, especially for a game claiming to be, in part, an RPG. You literally get to choose from a handful of heads, some makeup/facial hair, and hairstyles. No body alterations, no facial tuning.
    This wouldn't be so bad, if it weren't for the fact that the stock heads are so damned ugly. Male or female, just hideous or boring, or both.

    Gameplay wise, it's essentially gears of war on tighter rails. The missions are extremely linear. Move from A to B, kill enemies, repeat. If you have a team, some of you flank, blah, blah.
    It's also pretty easy, even with the tiers enabled.

    Your characters powers are very derivative too. We've seen all this stuff before, and that isnt always a bad thing. After all, tried and tested works. However, these mechanics are just boring.

    On a plus side. There are lots of weapons, and clearly some thought went into combining certain perks with gunplay, which is nice. Unfortunately it doesn't make up for all the other short falls.

    Overall, the game just feels lacklustre. It's graphically uninteresting, gameplay is repetitive, derivative, and god damn, those player characters are hideous    … Expand

    Well, as I thought this game is really disappointed. Repetitive, visually looks like an old gen game and that gameplay isn't innovative. It ok to play as a free game (gamepass) but doesn't worth to spend money on it.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Outriders tries to cut out it's own little piece of the looter shooter genre, instead of being just another Destiny copy it takes some risks with the formula overall with varying success. First thing I'd say is I do not think Outriders should be classified into the same broad range as other looter shooters, if anything I would call it a strange new mix of Diablo Shooter. Loot comes at you fast and furious, while most of it is generally useless you can disassemble both weapons and armor for mods that can be then placed on other pieces. At the same time you are given a small indicator on items that shows if you already own said mods and can just outright sell for "scrap", the in universe stand in for money. One of the main areas Outriders falls short is giving the player the option to focus on run and gun shooting or stick to cover. While the game gives you the option to stick to cover Gears of War style it doesn't do a great job in making it a fun experience. Most enemies will lob some type of grenade to chase you from cover or just suicide flank you making the run and gun style of shooting much more appealing and seemingly the overall meta. When I initially played the open beta for Outriders I wasn't thrilled with the story we were allowed to see nor the early class skills in general and I was hesitant at best to give this game a try. But boredom won out and I jumped in, short of early server issues and a few bugs my personal experience is Outriders ran well enough. Story wise early it is a bit hit or miss and the ending kinda hits it's mark. There are a few story beats where I was super into the mystery and others are was perplexed why that was their answer for the way events happened. Classes are a weak point early but slowly build into a strength the higher you level, allowing you to tailor a class more towards your liking. Weapons and armor are easily customizable, some armor looks great and others looks like they don't fit the universe at all. It's mainly about finding the look of armor you want, get the highest end version of it and mod it to your liking. This game is far more casual than some others in that aspect, in Outriders you probably only have to spent a few days at most to get the gear you want while other games time lock you trying to do so. Outriders end game is called "Expeditions" and is a solo or group race against time to recover crashed supply pods. While it is easier in a group some aspects of this mode were overlooked, such as solo players not getting any extra time to complete and not getting a single res like the group mode. While this mode can become a challenge higher up you go in it's levels it will still give you some rewards for failure so at least if you die solo or fail as a group you do get some reward instead of just wasted time. Overall the community as a whole is good, the Devastator class as of this review is highly lacking in end game desirability as groups prefer high end damage over a meaty tank class.

    Overall I enjoyed the game, it doesn't take any radical next steps for the genre and makes some aspects of it more casual player friendly while allowing enough end game replay ability now for it to be fun. Decent story, decently fun but lacking variety side quests, fast loot progression, scaling difficulty and good enough end game for now. Outriders is a solid game that doesn't blow down the doors of a genre but with enough support may have a decent shelf life in the market.

    Altered my original score of a 8 down to a 5. Big brain devs panicked over some classes out preforming others and subsequently flailed around in the darkness and nerfed basically everything to hell. Instead of selective nerfs and buffs to help bring some classes down and others up just a bit they basically killed all high end builds that were clearing content too fast and moved the timed gated end game goal post to make it virtually impossible on higher levels solo and in groups a times. Not only did the "over preforming" classes take massive damage and survivability hit the lower end classes also took the same hit. So the meta builds are still the meta, the crap classes and still crap and no one is having fun trying to hit a insane time limit on end game content. Until People Can Fly gets their heads out of their asses and fixes this plus a whole new full inventory wipe bug. AVOID OUTRIDERS.    … Expand

    Always online. Politics. Buggy. Aesthetics seem to be stuck somewhere between looking like a modern game and something from 2006. Gameplay is like a conjoined twin, one half wants to travel in the opposite direction of the other. Has an interesting setting though. Not worth $60, wait for a significant sale.

    I can't even get through the prologue, if you disconnect you need to start all over again. Now I can't even interact with the first flag. This is on April 3de.

    Only thing left is to figure out how to get a refund from epic, you can keep your game, I don't want it.

    Sorry but i had to make this review. I played lots of games. Including fallout and persona and a lil bit of destiny. But for the first time ever, i got bored of just playing this game. There's a dark tone on this game and i love it. Bit hearing that people experience server crashing is just sad.

    I understand having an internet connection to verify purchases ala app stores and such, but having an always on connection for a single-player game? Nope, nah-uh, no thanks. Please see Valheim for the right way to do online co-op multiplayer. For 1/3rd the price of this game? Ya, this is a travesty of the gaming industry in 2021.

    - Always online, garbage servers. Constant disconnects, servers going down, login issues... you name it.
    - Abilities don't always always work. Trickster teleport basically doesn't work 1/3 of the time.
    - NPC's disappear and force you to log out and in for them to reappear
    - Missing quest markers or markers that lead no where

    This is likely the last square game I purchase until they can rebuild the trust. They have a huge amount of work ahead of them to make this game playable.

    The fact that there is no wide spread PSA that warns players about the inventory wipe bug is also just insane mismanagement. They absolutely should be disabling match making until they find a fix for this. If you play multiplayer its not IF you will run into this issue, but rather WHEN you will run into this issue.

    Customers are forced to go to reddit or twitter to post their experience with this bug. I only find out about this issue after experiencing the issue first hand and scouring the internet for answers.

    What's worse is apparently this issue has been going on for WEEKS now. They can force players to be always online, but they can't push out a simple in game warning about the current state of multiplayer?

    This is a 3rd person cover based shoote that can be played both solo and online with up to 3 players.
    I stuck to this games campaign solo and it took me about 14 hours to get through.. The game starts with you creating your own charcter, and the story here.. well it might as well not even exist.. I couldn’t tell you anything, I couldn’t even tell you how the game ends if I wanted to, basically a storm happens, youre frozen, youre unfrozen 20 years late futurama style, and you come out and wanna shoot stuff.
    The gameplay here is super fun and addictive.. most of the time.. thing gears of war meets mass effect meets the division.. obviously outriders feels nowhere near as polished and detailed as those games.. but for a first attempt in a series, this is a really good one… Something unique here that has promise but major issues is the tier system.. instead of choosing a difficulty, the game gets harder as you progress, everyone starts at story difficuolty, then you unlock easy, normal, hard, expert, and so on… however once you get to a tier you find too challenging aka too annoying youre free to drop back to any previously unlocked tier that youd like… and this is what I did on m way to tier 6, I dropped back to normal.. and why you might ask? I loved the challenge tier 5 was giving me.. however outriders is desined as a games of service game and for that reason, the checkpoints throughout the campaign are awful.. ontop of that there are insane random difficulty spikes… youll go from having an nice challenge to waves of enemies that have you wanting to bang your head against the wall, oyull get so close to the end, or completete the first wave and lose to some scrub and have to start all the way back at the beginning of wave 1 instead of the wave your died on.. enough to again make you want to drop down to normal difficulty.. however… even in normal these random spikes occur, theres even one enemy called the shaman warlord that is so unbalanced and overpowered that I had to drop down to story difficulty…
    Im sure I could have eventually beat them on normal, but story took 3 minutes, normal would’ve taken like an hour. It just wasn’t worth the effort,,, balancing in general I outriders biggest problem.. from random enemies feeling overpowered to random difficulty spikes and awful checkpoint system… so the gameplay can go from great to frustrating, the story is trash, why is outriders so good?
    Well that comes in the form of its looter hook… at the beginning of the game you choose one of 3 classes, and its so addictive to find weapons through this game and try to tailor them to your specific playstyle.. overcome these sometimes annoying challenges with a feeling god like power… as as you level up, youll choose 3 abilities to have at yoru disposal during combat… there is post game content though.. and plenty… the story mode is essentially you getting your character ready for the online bits.. even though of course you can play through the story with friends… but after the game is where leveling up your tier really starts to matter, this is where youll be challenging yourself to unlock new areas and collect all of these fallen pods…I however personally found the actual world of outriders to be pretty lack luster and uninteresting.. so naturally I have no interest in going off and grinding.. though I do believe the mechanics are fun enough here for plenty who would based on that alone…
    Outriders again has potential as a series.. would I play outriders 2? Yes…
    s again I loved the gameplay hook and Id love a sequal that balances everything out better.
    Am I clamoring for outriders 2? No.
    Again the story and world are lacking, and im not quite sure how the team over at people can fly can fix it.

Even for single player experience, you need to be connected online to Outriders servers. And as of today, servers are not handling well.     EDITED REVIEW: After the recent developer new, I have decided to change the review, as negligance of developers was revealed. First of all, they are absolutely ignoring the worst issues like wipe of directory content, forcing players with lost gear to wait for weeks before they get some of it back. Also, instead of buffing other classes and mods to make other builds more viable, they have actually chosen nerf approach. They did not fix a single crash in 9 days.

    Second major issue is cross-play, which was promised, but is not functional since launch, so if you planned to have Easter coop Outriders session with your friends on different platforms, not happening.

    I would suggest to check the game some time later to avoid the frustration and save some time.    … Expand

    This is the companies first major game release, so i personally think they're doing great, major companies like blizzard struggle with their game launches after years of stress testing. The gameplay is fun and fresh and the difficulty of progressing world tiers keeps it hard and fun.

Released on April fools, I feel the fool for paying full price for a game that I am yet to be able to login to. The demo was fairly smooth and fun. But the game itself is an appalling mess. Fortunately I managed to get a refund as day one bugs is normal. But being unable to even play is ridiculous.

It's cheesy, in a fun way to me but to each their own, but it has fun abilities and shooting. Love the equipment system and the ease of modding items already in the game.     I went into this game with no expectations. A new game a breathe of fresh air and one I am really enjoying. Sever issues are pretty standard with any day 1 launch. Apart from that I am having a blast. Surprisingly love the story, the scooting, and fighting mechanics are awesome! Still have a ways to go and I am thrilled to get started on that gameplay soon!

    Fun gameplay. At first I thought that it is as boring as division 2 but it is very fun indeed. You don't need to hide behind covers, actually you just can't hid for move than a sec. You got to move, shoot, heal yourself, etc etc. Very good.

    Cons: it had launch issues... server dc and so on.

Weapons can be customized too, not too much but enough, and you can of course also customize your character and/or your truck. During the first 5 to 6 hours in the released game I experienced not many bugs, but I was a victim of horrible network issues which were obviously primarily happening when many players would come online. These issues were particially fixed, yet they dont seem to be fully gone. Other problems, such as gamebreaking bugs or glitches, were not to be seen.

    All in all I would call it a decent game, which should be fun to play. Especially players which are preferring loot shooters will enjoy this game. In point of graphics the game is also decent, and it is definitely playable in its current state.    … Expand

    Yes the servers had some issues the past couple days. The devs have been very responsive compared to most others in informing us they are aware and fixing the issues. The game is very fun and exciting I would recommend playing with friend if possible

    The game is great all around good looter great story and a awesome shooter with a great skill tree and amazing builds.

    Outriders is a fast rpg looter shooter. The game is not easy, you will die many times but it is a lot of fun. There are some minor issues with server connection because of a big interest but it will definitely improve in the coming days. However, this does not change that the game is great and can give many hours of fun.

    Generally, I'd give it 8/10 with possibility to put it notch higher if multi is bringing another hours of game. Pros: + no BS. you really get what you pay for.     Pros:

    + no BS. you really get what you pay for. Standalone, contained experience with no MTX, lootboxes, GAAS bloated skeleton of a game. This is fully executed product for 30-50 hours of gameplay you've paid for.
    + builds, synergies, minmaxing, power fantasy. The general jist of looter shooters
    + if Destiny 2 and Warframe had a violent threesome with Borderlands 3 while Division 2 was filming the whole thing and Deep Rock Galactic was peeping through the window - this is Outriders
    + full support of devs. I just can't imagine frustration that they have due to Square Enix's faulty online infrastructure
    + shooting feeling. Vital in game where you spend 90% of your time spewing bullets
    + performance. You can see that PCF put a lot of time into thinking this one through and optimizing the gorgeous Unreal engine 4 to make it work like a charm. Fast loadings (albeit frequent), no major bugs, visual clarity, sporadic audio cut-offs when there are 20938 sound channels overlapping,
    + a bit less obvious yet important thing - no grave imbalance between the classes.

    Cons:

    - servers, but frankly, for 50 hours straight I would say I had relatively unhindered experience.
    - enemies variety. This is a bit of lackluster, yet it might be fatigue due to long time already put into it.
    - frankly, I don't see much of the solo endgame at the moment. Eye of the storm and level 50 is my go to and then probably another character, however game would really benefit from like set items, more build defining uniques...
    - missing pvp which would be fun if PCF would change it's stance on GAAS and balance such mode properly

    Final thoughts. If you are in the market for looter shooter for foreseeable 50-100+ hours and got your index finger bored with Destiny & co., the Outriders might just scratch that itch. It is truly enjoyable game, occassionally (frequency might vary) hampered by repetitive encounters and server issues (which I'm certain it will be ironed out very soon).

    Ideas and concepts for future:
    * transmogrification is a must and despite game not having players' hub (since it's not GAAS) where you can flash out your sparkling new WMDs and robes, it would be nice to have outfit that you fully like rather than orange sneakers with predator skull helmet, tight spandex pants with a wet rag on your back.
    * Hunts, assassinations with more modifiers. Instances with affixed giving you bonuses, akin Borderlands 3 system. Increasing game longevity.
    * Environment interaction. Doubtly this can be implemented but as PCF worked wonders with environmental kills in BulletStorm, I thought we might have some of that in Outriders.

    After all that I haven't seen a single system that I would want to play over to grind for gear. There are no clear dungeons or raids. Just a bunch of areas you would clear from start to finish over and over, the lay out of these areas is poor at best.

    Game itself is a pretty solid experience, probably a 7,5-8/10.

    Servers are always down: being an online only game (even if I play solo), it is simply unplayable.

    0/10, I would never recommend this.

    I was excited to p[lay this game but I never got the chance to play it. I bought it on launch day and not even now 5 days after I couldn't get past the login screen.

    I should have asked for a refund the first day but I thought the developers gave a damn and maybe fix their servers, but all I see are the same server issues and lies on Twitter.     This game has an inventory wipe bug where even If you do not play ”online” i.e use matchmaking ur entire, ENTIRE inventory, all gear, all ur time spent just poof! Gone. Ud think the devs/support could help you get it back but they just announced that Nope, ur just **** IN A LOOTER SHOOTER GAME THIS IS A THING. Do. Not. Play.

The reason in doing so now is because I see so many people reading this game a zero just because they’re having server problems. I feel I had to write a review to justify why this game is definitely not a 5.5 because of a bunch of people who are having problems logging on. First of all I’ll give a tip, disable cross play because it’s in beta mode. I found that tip online because I was having the same trouble and connection errors stopped all at once.
    The second tip I’ll give is to lower your graphics settings. That’s on the user not fully on the developers. The game will try to run at maximum settings just like it did on my scenario, but it will crash even providing smooth gameplay up to that point. You have to lower your settings and it will stop.

    That being said, this game has a wonderful story which I am absolutely entrenched in. The characters are absolutely memorable and the story alone is an adventure worth following. It has a lot of generic ideas from past games of this genre, but where it stands out most is the fact that it’s like playing gears of war, Tom Clancy‘s division, and a bit of borderlands all in one. It’s a bit linear on the story side, but it does give you room to play around and go where you want within those linear stages. You can replay missions in side quests to level up your gear, and when doing so every character you meet along the way upon starting a side quest is an integral part of the story that you learn just that much more of. There’s a lot of reading which if you take the time to do, it certainly adds big pieces of the puzzle of what’s going on around you in the game.

    So once again I just want to reiterate that this game is not a 5.5 game! And I say that not because I feel like my opinion is better than others, but rather I see it purely for what the game is over the keyboard smashing angry people for not realizing how a PC works when trying to game on this particular platform. It’s not a console. You have to adjust your settings to make a game run smoothly according to your hardware and apparently a lot of people don’t know how to do that.

    but: servers are NOT the game. judging a game only by its server issues is severely unfair - as these problems will be solved in foreseeable future. even with those problems solved - the mediocre to extremely bad reviews remain visible to just about anybody. imagine this: you login to the game in a week from now and realize it´s actually pretty awesome. punishing the devs for their infrastructure is in no relation to the effort behind such a game - art direction, storytelling, coding, ...

    so lets put things into perspective again:
    the servers suck right now.
    but:
    the game has good writing, an interesting story, some hilariously well done cut scenes that entertained me a lot. i identify with my own character, which is pretty seldom given the fact, that i play a shooter. the gunplay is pretty solid, lots of weapon feedback - and the RPG level ads an interesting and highly individual element to my playing style. the idea that you only heal, when you kill is awesome. great amount of chaos - in a positive way. and: the voice acting is awesome - but thats a quite subjective view, as i´ve seen reading other reviews.

    the reason i give it a clear 10 is, though, to compensate all the zeros given by people who are simply angry because of first day server problems. they don´t evaluate the game. the game deserves an 8 or 9.    … Expand

    Day 1 was a disaster. Day 2 even bigger disaster. So many bugs, crashes, instabilities. This was not tested AT ALL. The dev's responses have been insulting at best without any apologetic tone for this disaster of a release.     Outriders guarantees an enjoyable evening with friends. We had lots of fun clearing out stage after stage, gathering loot, upgrading our gear and improving our builds so they complement each other perfectly. The final score would have been higher if it weren’t for tons of technical issues we had to deal with. [06/2021, p.28]

    Killing everything that moves with bullets and magic while enjoying picturesque alien vistas is good enough for 20 hours (30, if you’re into Expeditions), but don’t expect anything more substantial out of Outriders.

    Gears of War meets Destiny… and the end result is mediocre. Take away the "coolness" of playing a gun totting superhero, and all you are left with is basically one more generic looter shooter, that doesn't manage to impress, neither with its repetitive gameplay, nor with its boring story and world building. Add to that a couple of technical and network issues, and you are in for a - pricey - treat.
