Apr 23, 2025Old Skies takes the well-worn concept of time travel and shoots it back through history to make it fresh again. It’s a beautiful, wonderfully written and acted tale both epic and personal, with enough time-bending conundrums to keep even the most jaded adventure gamer guessing.
-
May 30, 2025Old Skies is an incredible adventure game story that will have you laughing, crying, and in awe - sometimes all at the same time. Its puzzles are pretty easy to solve, but the story and characters will have you glued to your seat until the final moments.
-
Jun 3, 2025Old Skies by Wadjet Eye Games is an inventive, very varied, and wildly entertaining classic adventure.
-
Jun 3, 2025Another point and click adventure game from Wadjet Eye Games brings another great story. You will enjoy captivating time travel. This is an excellently written point & click adventure game with an engaging theme, excellent dialogues and characters, logical problems and puzzles.
-
May 9, 2025Old Skies is a wonderfully written, charmingly animated adventure game with excellent voice acting and accessible puzzles, firmly upholding Wadjet Eye’s legacy in the genre.
-
Apr 29, 2025A brilliant dissection of the emotional baggage that comes with time travel. Old Skies showcases excellent writing and a handful of clever gameplay moments, even if it leans on time loops a bit much.
-
Apr 28, 2025Old Skies is a time-travelling point-and-click adventure with a compelling narrative that drags you in deeper with each questionable, time-altering decision. It's not short on heart, either, though you'll have to play to discover if protagonist Fia gets the ending she deserves.

Apr 25, 2025Wadjet Eye Games is known for delivering exceptional, fun and very creative point-and-click games. Old Skies is certainly one of the best, although I still feel that Unavowed was better, at least for me. With that in mind, the gameplay, the amazing timelines we visit, but also the overall stories/quests they added into the game feel very special, and they are a blast to go through. Sure, Old Skies doesn’t have flashy graphics, they went with rather old school visuals, but for me, those stand out and make the game world very immersive. The voice overs are on point, and the dialog is very creative, although it can drag at times. All in all, Old Skies is interesting, exciting, and a breath of fresh air for the genre, especially with its time travel shenanigans.
-
Apr 23, 2025A familiar time travel concept, but with quite an interesting approach, Old Skies is another strong adventure in the trophy case of Wadjet Eye Games.
-
Apr 23, 2025A new adventure game classic, and a bit of a tear-jerker.

Apr 28, 2025We really loved Old Skies. In our opinion, it's Gilbert's best work narratively — a story that captivates from beginning to end, ultimately becoming a truly intense emotional experience. The puzzles, while not particularly difficult, are very well designed and consistent with the setting. It’s a pity about some of the animations, which aren’t exactly exceptional, likely due to the change in visual style compared to the studio’s previous games. Nothing dramatic, but noticeable nonetheless. Other than that, we recommend it without hesitation.
-
May 27, 2025There are very few works that handle the concept of time travel so well while also carefully emphasizing its human dimension. Old Skies is one of them. In the end, don't forget that this is a character drama—adjust your expectations accordingly.
-
May 17, 2025Old Skies is a really solid game from Wadjet Eye Games. It's nothing earth-shattering, but for fans of the genre, this point-and-click adventure offers over ten hours of cleverly designed puzzles and an emotional story.

May 13, 2025With a set destination, the journey has to be the focal point of Old Skies--which is great for it, as the game is a fantastic journey. The memorable dialogue is bolstered by an incredible cast of voice actors, and the story is compelling from its shocking first hour to its timey-wimey final moments. I'm normally one to play point-and-click games in small bursts to sit with each chapter of the story, but I found myself regularly playing Old Skies in large chunks, going through multiple chapters in each sitting just to see what would happen next. And even though I didn't enjoy every step there, the overall package more than made up for it with one of my favorite stories of this year.
-
May 1, 2025Old Skies may not be as pioneering as Wadjet Eye’s revered 2018 adventure Unavowed (which still comes highly recommended). Secondly, the tension of any high-stakes scenes also suffers because repetitive trial and error functions as a viable if hardly inspired tactic when the logic of a solution doesn’t stand out. But by teasing out Fia’s emotional muddle amid the intricate cause and effect of time travel, it finds its own place in the history of cerebral puzzle games.
-
Apr 23, 2025Old Skies is an engaging point-and-click. It may not deviate heavily from the genre's formula, but the way the game bakes the time-travel aspects into some of the puzzle-solving provides a number of highs, and Fia's touching story and the twists along the way are worth experiencing.
-
Apr 23, 2025With a touching tale of yearning and personal growth on a backdrop of a near sci-fi future, Old Skies meets the standard of quality I’ve come to expect from Wadjet Eye Games. It explores the moral quandaries of time travel in a way I have not seen before, asking not what effect it might have on the future, but what effect it might have on the travellers. Its story is told well, all the while offering mostly quality puzzles that have plenty of potential for fleshing out in a future instalment.
-
Apr 23, 2025Acclaimed point-and-click studio Wadjet Eye's gently paced, time-travelling genre-hopper blends elegant puzzling and intricate, affecting storytelling to beautiful effect.
-
Apr 23, 2025I certainly didn’t dislike my time with Old Skies, but I didn’t love it, either. What a wonderful ending that almost made me forget and forgive the longest fifteen hours I’ve experienced in a game recently. The last chapter is absolute chef’s kiss stuff. Somehow, though, a story with a mysterious organization with limitless resources, a thoughtful ruleset, and time manipulation didn’t excite.
-
Jul 3, 2025Whilst some of the fundamentals that make a Wadjet Eye Game so special are included here, and there is a level of enjoyment to be had, Old Skies fails to hit the mark in more ways than expected. Long-term fans will likely persevere to the end because there is indeed enough of a hook and there are plenty of little in-jokes/references included. Old Skies should have been the most open escapade yet from the team. However - convoluted gameplay, unsatisfactory puzzle mechanics, frustrating new inclusions, a plot with unnecessary elements, and a surprising amount of linearity all leave this feeling rather anticlimactic overall. Bring back the days of Blackwell.
-
Edge MagazineMay 16, 2025There's an interesting personal story here, yet when it comes to the work itself, we can't help but feel we've gone a little too far back in time. [Issue#411, p.123]
-
May 30, 2025Emotionally strong story told through a shallow game neglecting its own puzzle and world-building logic twice too often.

Sep 13, 2025A marvelous adventure graphic game in one of the best years for the genre. [Recommended]

Apr 23, 2025While Old Skies is a more “traditional” adventure game than Unavowed, it does the game a disservice to leave it at that. This is a hugely ambitious game, perhaps even seven different games combined into one, repeatedly reinventing its approach to its central conceit throughout. And it’s one that’s stuck with me, one I keep thinking about days after I finished playing. [Impressions]

Apr 23, 2025What I come back to, as I think back over Old Skies, is that balance: In the way it tells a robust and mechanically fascinating story of time travel that nevertheless grounds every single moment in the human element. “What would it be like to live in a world where everything changes in an instant?” it asks—before reminding you that that’s exactly what you’re doing right now. If you have any affection for adventure games or time travel stories, you owe it to yourself to play it: It’s my favorite game I’ve played this year so far.

Jul 9, 2025Old Skies isn’t the flashiest game – but it doesn’t need to be. Rather than a grandiose, sci-fi thriller that the “time travel” trope tends to accompany, it grounds itself in a more sobering proposition. Ordinary people with ordinary desires, making extraordinary decisions. You aren’t here to save the world, but instead, to witness small slices of humanity. Sometimes, you don’t need an extravagant exit; you just need a shoulder to lean on. [Highly Recommended]
