Incredible game with insane levels of replayability through infinite variations of spells and gameplay scenarios. Great modding community expanding the interaction and emergent gameplay. Unsettling atmosphere with many secrets. Definitely one of the best indie games this year, and certainly my favorite roguelite, by an extremely large margin.

With many hours of curious joy, I need to come here to put it on the record: Noita's a game I will be returning to my whole life. I can see myself playing this for hours as an insane grandfather with nobody visiting him. Hopefully!

Terrible game. First, it crashes constantly. Second, the dev doesn't respond to attempts to contact. Third, the game just kills you with RNG. Fourth, recent changes make the game even more random for no reason.

Noita exists not to be played, but to be watched in trailer form. It may be thin and repetitive game with shockingly little polish and hundreds of examples of needless, fun-stopping complexity, but it does have some nice trailers. Loads of fun until you try to play it.

Conceptually it's interesting. It's deep and complex. But it isn't fun nor does it have any sort of meta-upgrade system that every roguelike has nowadays. I can't recommend this over Hades or Dead Cells.

If you like the things I mentioned earlier and enemies and ambients designs that are dark fantasy/chtulhian inspired then you'll love this game like me.The real main feature of the game without the ones I already talked about are the possibilities of assembling spells, the game will provide you through shops and random spots on the map wands and spells (potions too but that's something I'll leave for later), that you can combine as like;the spells are divided in 2 basic categories the conditioning ones and the normal ones, the conditioning ones adds effect like major damage, the enemy hit by the spell taking fire, generating acid, having aimbot, teleporting after the cast, etc, etc.; and then there are the basic spells that majorly consist in blast or bolts, or in spawning some sort of thing (like rock to crush your enemies with or eggs that will spawn loyal monsters that will help you in battle) but then there are some that are wonderfully op like nukes, holy granades, a portal to an another that dimension that creates tentacles that attack everything all around, flamethrowers, spells that use your wand as a melee weapon and all of this combine between them and the conditioning spells, this make you able to create an infinite range of differente spells. And for last but not least every wand posses unique stats and design, the stats are:
-Shuffle(if it's set on yes your spells order have a chance of being shuffled, because to properly craft your own sopell you'll have to decide an order of execution for them where the conditioning spells go before the normal ones and you can have different divisions for this like: Damage Amplifier-Basic Bolt-Enemies' SelfBurning-Ice Spear; so this effect can make for example the self burning coming AFTER the ice spear and doing so its effect will be applied to the basi bolt together with the damage amplifier)
-Spells that can be casted at the same time
-Casting time(time between clicking and in fact using the spell)
-Recharge time(time before you can use the wand again, typicallybetween 0 and 5 seconds, it can be reduced with some spells)
-Mana max(max mana that will so determine which spells you can use on that wand, that's because some costs more mana the max mana)
    -Mana recharge speed
-Spells' slots(maximum number of spells you can combine inside that wand)
-Grade variation(variation on the spells precision, determined in °s, some spells can rise it or lower it)
Little Note before you get frustrated after trying the game and not being able to modify the wands, you can do that but only after you finished a zone by descending till ones of the portals at its end, after that you'll reach a "temple" where you can wash yourself from negative fluids effects like the acid ones(for example if you step in acid you'll receive costant damage till you wash that away from you or till it dried away, that requires time) and you can refill your hps and your limited spells(some spells have limited uses that will be fully restored for all only on this "temple"s) and even buy some spell or wand from a shop right there, and at last wou'll be able to test your damage on some manequin made of stone and pick a perk between three, the perks remain on you for the rest of you run and those tree you can choose from can also be rerolled through some gold payment. Other important thing to know is that in this game physic is a thing and it's important because you can exploit it to your advantage, for example: there's an enemy flying with a jetpack and aiming at you with rifle that's coming from below you can just kick a rock near you on hisheads killing him easily, this thing even makes you get double money because of killing him with only physics, a good incetive made byt the developers to make you desire to continue using these types of exploits.
.I highly reccomend playing it with mods (just go on the steam workshop and select the ones with the higher votes) 'cause those add a lot of new spells, enemies, liquids, materials and materials interactions.

I currently have ~130 hours in the game and would say this: If you like rogue-like games, this is one of the better ones I've played. I bought it for $20 and it has been an excellent value for the money, and I would buy it again at that price. I would recommend the game if you don't mind some RNG frustration and have a lot of time to kill.

I would recommend the game if you don't mind some RNG frustration and have a lot of time to kill.

    Pros:
+ Unique game play with heavy rogue-like mechanics.
+ A huge world with various biomes and enemies that are diverse and interesting.
+ The whole game world is a huge puzzle with lots of mystery and secrets to uncover and keep you playing. You can look at the full map (on the wiki) to see that the main path into the mines is just a small part of the overall world. You're encouraged to go "out of bounds" to make discoveries that leave you wondering what you've found, and then immediately get killed by something mysterious and overpowered.
+ The pixel based world is a unique and interesting mechanic.
+ There's lots of complex mechanics that make wands and spells their own little puzzles within the game. In some ways it's almost like a looter-shooter gun mechanic.

    Neutral:
= A huge time sink. For better or worse you can put a lot of time in the game. It was great when I was looking to kill time during the pandemic, but at some level I'm starting to regret the amount of time I've sunk into this game given the progress I've made.

    Cons:
    - There's a lot of build variety, but there are clear dominate strategies that are just objectively better. I've only found a couple builds that would let me win the game, along with a lot of builds that are are basically worthless and will quickly get you killed. In my experience, If you don't play to a specific power curve, you're in for an unpleasant and frustrating game, and it's largely RNG if you can play to that curve or not.
    - Hidden secrets are highly cryptic and difficult to find. I don't know how you'd figure out half of these without looking at the wiki or having insane amounts of time to experiment and explore.
    - The game can be hard to the point of being unfair, mainly because the game is so RNG heavy. Be prepared to bang your head against the random number generator hoping that you get the wands, spells, and perks that let you progress.
    - A lot of the late game fights end up being battles with off screen enemies you can't even see. Shooting homing projectiles at something off screen until the enemies stop returning fire is not that fun or rewarding.
    - I've had intermittent sound issues with crackling and broken audio when using an dedicated sound card. Google "noita sound bug" for details. It seems like this a known issue that's been around a while and is not being addressed by the developers.

Noita is a truly innovative game, and because of that it may often feel frustrating to newcomers. For me though, exploring its mechanics and stumbling around in the game's world were one of the best experiences in gaming.

It really is unbelievable how much content there is in this game.

Then, of course, there's the physics engine. The main selling point of the game can often be its most maddening aspect. There is nothing quite like blowing up a barrel and setting yourself on fire, only to discover you are nowhere near any kind of liquid that will extinguish you. There is nothing like collapsing a large piece of terrain, realizing that terrain is going to crush you, and then dying before you can escape the large falling rock. There is nothing like getting an incredibly powerful electricity spell, diving in a pool of water to get the gold from an enemy you just used the spell to kill, and finding out the fun way that electrically charged wands will electrocute you while underwater. Every pixel on the screen is physically simulated, and every pixel wants to kill you.

To be perfectly honest, I was not expecting the depth this game offers when I bought it. I've already beaten it once, but the thought of exploring every nook and cranny of this game in one run is frankly daunting. Regardless, I still had a blast in the time I spent with it, and if you are looking for a rogue like game with a few hundred hours of content, you will enjoy it even more than I did.

Combining sandbox elements with a fully-developed physics engine and a roguelike structure was really smart from the devs. Countless hours of playtime and every run feels fresh. The only issue with the game is that losing is more punishing than any game I've ever played so they should have done something to combat the feeling of wanting to just quit after a run ends.

And yes, there’s an engaging gameplay loop beyond all of the terrain and wand modification. There’s an eclectic variety of enemies in the myriad regions that players can explore, running the gamut from familiar antagonists such as rats, robots, and gunmen, to more wild creatures like sentient blobs of acid and all manner of tentacled eldritch horrors. The environments are similarly diverse and player exploration is constantly rewarded in the form of new spells, potions, and secret locations, among other things.

I don’t envy any roguelike unfortunate enough to release immediately after Hades — that game made every run feel distinct and provided a persistent narrative justification for the repetition inherent to the genre. I obviously can’t expect smaller developers to match that effort, but what Hades does well underlines the fact that so many roguelikes let stellar ideas go to waste, lost amid endless monotony. Noita is a spectacular technical showcase in desperate need of a more fully-formed game.

If you’re not bothered about kicking a thirty-plus minute run to the curb because you didn’t quite manage to piece together anything strong enough, or about dawdling around a bit in an attempt to grind for whatever may be needed to build a dream weapon, you might really enjoy Noita. It’s not exactly my cup of tea but I think I may have been taking it a little too seriously – sometimes it’s just fun to embrace the madness and see how far you can take it.
