Atmosphere rules in this narrative game about a cabbie on the trail of a killer. [Eurogamer Recommended]
  2. It’s a game with two key strands that feel forced together when they don’t really work in tandem. I like both ingredients in theory, but they don’t coalesce successfully, like how a vinaigrette salad dressing will separate into oil and vinegar until you shake it up again. Except balsamic dressing is obviously delicious. Night Call isn’t quite that. It’s not bad, though. A honey-mustard, maybe?

A moody and rewarding visual novel that is let down by some bad mystery plotting.

There isn't really any strategy, just talk to people and hope they give you a random clue, which you add to a very simplistic crime board. Some are categorized for you and the rest are either completely obvious or total guesses. You dont really get to strictly investigate or logic. There is no way even to make an educated decision about who to pick up or talk to. Setting and ambience are good.
Here's what made me give it up, though. The very obvious SJW agenda. I am so tired of this new cult, the preachings of which are far more aggressive, annoying, and ubiquitous than any other religion has been in my lifetime. I am glad I got to try before buying, which I will not do.

Core gameplay focuses on collecting clues and managing your resources - fuel, money and time. But the most important and engaging part of the game are your passengers - each one of them has their own unique story, motivations and goals. The dialogues are written with empathy, warmth and sense of humour. You can see they're inspired by real-life stories - during your nights you meet people from different ways of life. There were times when I was literally smiling at the screen when my passenger left my cab after a wholesome discussion. The investigation part could be more complex, but again - the value of this game is about connecting with each other without prejudice and trying to understand each other. Full Review »
