Nidhogg 2 builds on its predecessor, sometimes too much. It complicates the mechanics while simultaneously going more casual. Still, if you dig the art direction, call up some friends - it's one fine party game.

Despite its problems, Nidhogg 2 is spectacular, engrossing, funny, tragic, and dramatic in equal measure, and it will no doubt become another party game staple. Nidhogg 2 sacrifices simplicity for more options, and it doesn't prove to be a good trade. But when the underlying action is this good, I'll put up with the odd unwelcome dagger.

More content, similar limitations, a weird art style and laggy netcode for a sequel best player in local multiplayer.

If you liked Nidhogg, Nidhogg 2 is more of the same—which is probably enough for most people. A few new weapons, a shallow character creator, cool stage backgrounds and online play are the biggest changes you’re paying for here. I just wish there were more substantial editions aside from those.

I was pretty disappointed with Nidhogg 2. After a few hours of playing I don’t see myself going back to it any time soon. The weapon changes and graphic changes were enough to turn me off. Although the game can be fun to play for a few minutes at a time, all of the extra additions were just a little too much. I’ll stick to playing the original, I think.

An already sterling fighter gets a new coat of paint and a few new tricks. It's not revolutionary, but it's the best Nidhogg has ever been. [Recommended]
  2. If you’ve never Nidhogged before, this might be the best place to start since you’ll almost certainly be able to find a non-laggy game much more quickly, but it’s missing some of the original’s elegance, and not just in the visual department.

I get the opportunity to test Nidhogg 2 in a free weekend and I must confess that I liked it quite a lot.

The game is simple, get to the other side of the map by defeat the enemies that you find in your way.

The mechanics are simple, easy to learn and master. Just move around, jump and attack but I must suggest if you are using a keyboard assign your own keys right from the start, since the original key configuration used was a bit strange.
Visually the game is pretty OK. The graphics style is quite nice and the color pallet is awesome. You will see what I am talking about and how everything going to be painted when you slay your enemy for the first time.

Overall a very nice game for a casual game season... I fully recommend it.
