  1. The developers put a lot of effort into the player experience and took a few risks trying to break the mold along the way.
  2. I really like the player’s changing perspective of the island form day to day and I liked the panty shots *cough*… I mean the nicely done character models. The puzzles while brutal were straight forward and to the point.
  3. It does what any solid game in the genre should by immersing players in a deeply interactive and fantastic story environment. It also creates a strong sense of intrigue which will draw you forward through the plot of the game. The problem is there are frequent moments were players may wish to keep moving ahead to find out what happens next, yet they'll be impeded by a number of unintentionally frustrating obstacles in the gameplay.
  4. I liked Next Life better than "Culpa Innata," but that’s about as left-handed as my left-handed recommendations get.
  5. Next Life could have been fantastic. It is by no means bad – just held back by some strange design oversights.
  6. The premise and the promise of Next Life led this reviewer to really look forward to spending some hours with these "reprobates." Unfortunately, I can only give a mixed rating to a flawed title.
  7. I think Next Life could have been awesome. Shorter, sharper, and throw out the arcade puzzles.
  8. While it is worth checking out Next Life merely for its intrigue, the slow pace and brain-numbing puzzles will leave most adventurers high and dry and barred from the continued storyline that might otherwise quench their thirsts.
  9. Tedious pace and annoying pixel hunts sabotage this surreal adventure.

Next Life’s story gets more…intriguing? as you go, but the animation and gameplay continue to be a slow drip of super-clunk tempered only a little by a sprinkle of more action-oriented mini-games.
  11. Next Life is fairly lengthy, probably 15+ hours of playtime, but it's not quality time because of the abundance of backtracking and slow animations.

Your current life is too short to waste on this next one. [Mar 2008, p.77]
