The worst NFS, anything you do the game bugs and the worst and they are not funny bugs but bugs that disrupt the gameplay experience. Even the graphics are ugly, not even that saves

I felt compelled to write a review of this game to counter the many misleading opinions of other posters. Let me start off by saying that whatever technical issues the game had when it was first released seem to have been fixed now. Let me start off by saying that whatever technical issues the game had when it was first released seem to have been fixed now. It barely skips a beat on my system: X64 OS, i7 processor, 16 GB RAM and GTX570 graphics card. Other complaints are (now) equally unfounded as you CAN skip most of the annoying cutscenes and immature story (by pressing A on the controller or Enter on the keyboard) and Events CAN be restarted.

Make no mistake -- this is an above-average game. The writing is probably the biggest downside in an otherwise class act and the 'sexy' female instructor voice is getting a bit old. However, everything else -- from the slick menus to the environmental effects -- has obviously had considerable thought and effort applied to it. All of the little touches -- like the realistic accumulation of dirt on the vehicles -- clearly show how much pride Ghost Games has taken in their work.

Apart from NFS: Hot Pursuit (2010), this game is probably closer to Burnout Paradise (2009) than any other since and -- for me -- that's a huge plus. In fact, in many ways it actually improves on the original formula as you would expect. The learning curve is relatively steep but it's a highly intelligent and rewarding game for those willing to put the effort in. It doesn't all gel straight away. You have to play it a while to 'get it' and appreciate its nuances. I had mixed feelings in the first hour or so but now I have to stop myself playing to go to bed. That's the sign of a good game!

Yes you have to do a little tweaking to make the game actually work decently but it can work in the end.
Just add -GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60.0 to put it in 60 fps (but you need a really high end PC).
If you have a monster of a PC, you can even add " -Render.ResolutionScale 2.0" to render in 4k and downscale to full hd. You can even remap gamepad button by editing

What bothers me though is that the driving is awkward. Sometimes the car just won't turn, like if it were on a railroad. Though not completely frustrating, it gives way less pleasure then driving in NFS Hot pursuit.

It's a pity because the game is otherwise enjoyable and has stunning graphics.
Decent purchase for less then 30$/€ but if you don't have NFS Hot pursuit (2010) I'd suggest you buy it instead.

This game actually DOESN'T SUPPORT ANY RACING WHEEL. Wow. How can anyone make a racing game without supporting a racing wheel is beyond me. And I loved the previous Most Wanted by Criterion, even with it's flaws. This game may have a great personality, but is disabled.

I played the PC version once it was released, and, to be honest, it looked amazing, but at 60 fps, the experience would have been muuuuch better... Anyway, fun game with amazing graphics.

Oh, and one other thing, why do the cops have so many more cars than the racers? You run out of cars for the racing career very quickly, the cops have a much bigger selection and much cooler cars. I also don't like that they went strictly to luxury and super cars, what happened to being able to buy Evo's and STI's and cars like that?

NFS Rivals tries very hard to be an engrossing and interesting game but fails miserably. The graphics are OK, but what troubles me the most is the piss poor handling, and the possibility of running over a cliff. The car gets wrecked almost every time, which makes you lose all the SP. Some races are almost un-winnable, unless you have th patience to retry a 1000 times before getting lucky.

I am not surprised with the EA poor results anymore experiencing Simcity 2013 ,NFS is the last game I bought from this mafia. Considering this game, It should have been called NFS countryside/grand canyon rally because those are the only regions I've seen so far driving for 4 hours on a highway that leads to nowhere.
Police department looks like a chicken coop with two lousy cop trucks

Police department looks like a chicken coop with two lousy cop trucks not mentioning the whole racing world looking like a one big construction site .The map size is pathetic for 2013 gaming. Oh and where are all the players If I ever see them during the game that's only If one passes through me with the speed of light but you may as well made it a single player game since I get to barely interact with those 6 random players.
Yea sure it carries nice graphics, cars etc. but the complexity of this game is poor, dumb assignments are a waste of time, Creativity = 0, Navigation and Menu is too confusing, can't even manage to save the damn game, I mean where are we? I want to drive in big cities with people around, trains passing through and pretty much a live surrounding, and I am not going into the whole frame rate dilemma which puts this game in the lowest level possible.

This game has the best racing experience I've ever encountered! Though the idea of only allowing multiplayer completely destroys the game.
I've been playing it for around 10h and I can't count the numbers of crashes and host-disconnects that has caused me to have to play the mission again.
The game is also limited to 30fps but it's really simple to make it run at 60, simply google nfs

+Most intense and epic racing game I've played
-A LOT of bugs, glitches etc. that causes the game to crash or forces you to restart it.
-No singleplayer makes it really hard to play longer races because it's really uncommon to end up on a stable server. The disconnects makes you have to replay the race most of the times.

    DO NOT BUY!

Although there is a working fix for 60FPS (without doubling the speed of the game), this will break the multiplayer. If you encounter other players, who play on 30FPS the game will glitch or even crash. So for single player or playing with friends, who also game on 60FPS, it runs flawlessly. No that is not even the worst part. Getting disconnected every time you achieve something or crashes which occur frequently, these are the most annoying things about this game. What was EA thinking? Is it In to give People Stuff that doesnt work? Honestly this game is a waste of money.
    Bugs everywhere
****ty Gamemechanics such as, Crashing into Traffic brings you to a full 10 sec stop, jumping over a ramp and landing outside of the street is also a crash

EA managed to end the bad run of Need for Speeds released in odd years. But even if it’s the best NFA in a long time, it could have been better. Rivals looks and plays really good but it could use a properly working multiplayer or a real single player mode. And if you remember Most Wanted, Rivals looks quite familiar. [01/2014, p.38]
