My Hero Academia: All's Justice

My Hero Academia: All's Justice is a game where every advancement comes with some regression, locking the game in place rather than moving things forward. The use of fully animated cut scenes is a long time coming, but the inclusion of still shots remains disappointing. The expansion of modes is good, but the presence of a hub world as a replacement for a menu can feel unnecessary. The move to a full 3v3 fighting system is awesome, but the severe reduction of environments and removal of their interactivity robs the game of some spectacle that the series had been known for up to that point. In the end, the game is still good, but it's best as a complementary game to My Hero One's Justice 2 rather than a replacement.

I’ve used the word fanservice a lot here, and that’s because My Hero Academia: All’s Justice truly excels at it. As a casual fan, I enjoyed both the recognizable anime moments and the new original content, but judged purely as a game it has some drawbacks, like underwhelming visuals, a few control issues, and unbalanced characters. Die-hard fans shouldn’t miss it, while others may want to wait for a price drop.

My Hero Academia All’s Justice tries to expand the series with more content, a large roster, and a story focused on the anime’s final arc, but struggles to truly evolve. While fans will enjoy recreating iconic moments and playing as dozens of characters, the combat remains shallow and overly automated. Technical issues like stuttering and frame drops hurt the experience, especially during fights. The lack of Portuguese localization is also a significant drawback. In the end, it is a competent arena fighter that plays things too safe and feels hard to recommend at full price.

My Hero Academia: All’s Justice lands somewhere between being better and worse than Byking’s other efforts. The idea of open districts is interesting, and the more accessible gameplay may appeal to the niche audience for anime-based games. However, the absurd difficulty of the story mode, the repetitive missions, and the stiff gameplay place the game in the lower tier of licensed anime titles.

My Hero Academia All’s Justice fails to capture the cinematic splendor of the finale of All For One and One For All’s showdown. Bland fights, poorly optimized character movement, and repeated battles take what could’ve been the chance to create a playable form of what fans of the series have wanted.

MY HERO ACADEMIA: All’s Justice took on an ambitious task to make a semi-open world experience fun, but felt strapped by budgetary or technical constraints.

MY HERO ACADEMIA: All's Justice is the more improved version of the My Hero's Justice games. Unfortunately, it doesn't justify getting this game if you are new to the series. A lot of the narrative is gutted, and the controls can feel janky outside combat.

Unfortunately, I have a very hard time recommending All’s Justice to anyone who is not a huge fan of My Hero Academia. The way this Story Mode is structured, you’re essentially throwing yourself into Season 7 and 8 of the anime with no context as to what came before it. It makes no sense for a newcomer to start here. For existing fans of the series, All’s Justice may be worth a pickup. There is fun to be had here, but it’s not without frustration. Many aspects of this game fall short, despite its ambitious nature. Every mode has a major drawback in one area or another, even if the experience ends up somewhat positive.
