    Whether you liked Muv-Luv or not, if you're a fan of visual novels you owe it to yourself to experience this absolute genre-defining crown jewel of a story.

    With the build-up of two prior games to firmly provide a foundation, some truly dark and disturbing moments, emotional highs, strong character connections, and overall glimmer of hope, there is no doubt as to what the final score could be for Muv-Luv Alternative. To consider it anything less than wonderful is to short-sell it due to its powerful moments and well-written plot.

    A high score with the caveat that it’s a VN that kept me thoroughly entertained through its thick and thin, highs and lows, as well as the assumption that this is the culmination of series as whole.

    It was intricate, emotional, funny, and profoundly entertaining.

    The mature and serious approach to telling the story, and the depth with which every point in the story unfolds along with the characters left me unable to stop reading until I finally finished it.

    Reading the prequels in Muv Luv (Extra & Unlimited) takes some time. But it is all set up to make this game the only other game that can stand alongside Steins Gate in my eyes, just by virtue of how emotional and gripping the story is throughout.

    I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to be told a fantastic story,
    no matter what device you choose to read it on.

    In fact I urge you to make it one of your TOP priorities if you plan to play it 'eventually'.
    I put it off for a couple years, and then just started up the trilogy on a whim. Two weeks later and I've finished it all. Now my life can resume...

Genuinely life changing. For how many works of art can you say the same? There is a reason why half of the ratings on VNDB are 10-point (twice as many as 9-point ratings), an insane record given the strict standards there. Unlikely to be paralleled by anything in the ACG industry, especially given how the industry is subjecting itself to lower and lower standards in recent years. Everybody should read it as soon as possible. Such a shame it never got made into anime and thus probably never got the recognition it deserves.… Full Review »
