    If your after a unique game play then Mirror's edge will offer you that experience.
    The game offers a wonderful concept of fast paced action as you run from enemies and leap from high buildings. Campaign is fairly short and doesn't have a strong story. Controls are very user friendly and graphics are decent.

    A beautifully rendered game with innovative gameplay to accompany, Mirror's Edge is a fantastic display of what the old DirectX is still capable of doing without breaking the PC. The short length is an annoyance though, leaving a lot to be desired. While the story could have become a strong point in this dystopian futuristic game, the ends are pretty loose and not gripping.     The Good: (1) Artstyle is unique and interesting.
    (2) The Gameplay itself is also unique and fun, both of those are hard to pull off in this day and age.
    (3) The price! The Bad: (1) You can beat this game the day you get it... it's very short. (2) The combat is not all that great... fortunately you don't really need to fight. Overall I recommend this game for a unique experience and some    The Good: (1) Artstyle is unique and interesting.

I can only Recommend this game if you have a Good Graphic card and you like to die a few time in a row.. i think its Great because of its amazing Graphics and new way of thinking when it comes to gameplay. the story is Great too and i hope to see more of them (there will as EA have comfirmed a 2 and 3) i give 9 as the game Amazing and cutting Edge game.. and new with some new thinking..     Ya know, this game looked really cool after seeing some previews for it. Then I read giantbomb.com's review of it and they only gave it a 3 out of 5. So that meant ok, but not good or great. Sorta dimmed my enthusiasm a bit. It was like, yea this game might not be some perfect sphere of nirvana like Half-Life 2 or anything, but it's an innovative new game concept that really tried toYa know, this game looked really cool after seeing some previews for it. Then I read giantbomb.com's review of it and they only gave it a 3 out of 5. So that meant ok, but not good or great. Sorta dimmed my enthusiasm a bit. It was like, yea this game might not be some perfect sphere of nirvana like Half-Life 2 or anything, but it's an innovative new game concept that really tried to breathe new life into the FPS genre, so why not give it the benefit of the doubt? Who else would think to take EA's bags of money and make a first person parkour game that almost totally avoids combat? That is the creation of either some madness, or some genius.

    So it came out and I started playing it. And frankly, I dunno why giantbomb gave it a 3/5. This game is **** fun. The sense of speed and adenaline from running over rooftops while sliding under pipes and walljumping from scaffolding is just amazing. That's what this game excels at, making you feel like an amazing athlete, some sort of freak Olympian who gets their kicks from stealing stuff and running away. The parkour is easily accomplished with the controls and viewing it from first person makes it much more immersive then a traditional third person camera would have.

    The entire game has a nice sorta Ipod-ish aesthetic. It seems that in the city of the future, everything is clean and white, with some splashes of other colors. If you've ever watched the turd of a film called "Ultraviolet", then you'll recognize its look here. Very sterilized and cold... even the plants in the city are painted white for some reason heh. I suppose it's a new take on the futuristic city aesthetic though, compared to a lot of stuff in scifi games that're just ripped off from Blade Runner and Aliens.

    So while I'm enjoying the game a lot, there are a few caveats. First off, I started playing the game last night. At the end of the session, I had completed the first four levels. There are nine levels in all. Yes, this game is not built for longevity. It is short. And no multiplayer, so all that's left is doing speed runs in the completed levels to try to top your last time. Obviously a factor if you're gonna go and buy this game for 60 bucks or whatever.

    The combat's also lacking, since this isn't a game where you're meant to run and gun. You can use guns, but you have to first disarm a cop. Then, you'll only be able to shoot until the magazine runs out, you can't reload. So shooting it out isn't really encouraged. Also, your character Faith can only take a few shots, so you'll definitely need to run behind cover and wait for opportune moments to strike. If you do work at it, you can shoot it out with a SWAT team though. Just isolate one guy, disarm him, run to another guy, shoot him, grab his gun, and repeat, while trying not to catch too much lead. It's not ideal, and it's certainly much harder then just running for any exit, but it's doable. The hand to hand combat works for the weak police, they'll drop after 2 or 3 punches. But the SWAT guys in armor will just push you away, so hand to hand doesn't work on them. All in all, if you're looking for some sorta Matrix-style martial arts combat to match the game's parkour gameplay, you won't find it here.

    Oh, and yea... the game cutscenes do resemble the Esurance cartoon commercials. But honestly... I always liked those commercials. Erin Esurance was hot. So that's not really a complaint for me.    … Expand

    Amazing steal for 5 bucks off steam, I still would pay 20 for it. Was totally worth it, lots of action, the close action, the climbing, it was all amazing. The story was interesting aswell. I love the envirmoent the most, it was bright, sunny, very clean, if you're a Portal fan and a assassins creed fan, and you haven't played this, Then you are MISSING out!     The game was quite fun, my only complaint is that the game is incredibly short. I managed to tear through the game in about 7 hours.While for the most part the graphics were visual amazing. At times though there are certain areas where the area is completely whited out and looking super sterile.

    I no longer pay full price for games (they never seem worth $60.) So I bought this for under $20. What drew me to this game was the music. If a game pays attention to music, then it will likely have good atmosphere. Half-Life blew me away for various reasons, but the thing that stuck was the timing and flow of the music at key points.     The gameplay is mostly solid with minor quircks to get over (especially the combat). Controlling on a keyboard and mouse is faaaaar prefered than any version of a gamepad. Looks great even on a old machine. Has some stability issues but could mostly have to do with the fact i'm playing on a machine that is half six years old, half new.     This game is undeniably cool and really original. The graphics are also great. But it suffers from one thing; short amount of gameplay and really bad replay value. I think this should be played because it's something you want to have experienced and it's brought the platform genre to a whole new level.

From such a visually rich game, I'm left wondering why the developers decided upon a visually dull cut-scene format. The cardboard-like characters and stiff animation really sucked the energy out of the title, and it was almost heartbreaking to be ripped from the lush, glowing environments, and thrust into a two-dimensional cut-scene. As far as the storyline goes, I ended up beating the game without ever realizing it. In fact, when the credits started rolling, I was left sitting at my computer thinking, "What?" Ironically enough, as the final scene was coming to a close and the "Mirror's Edge" logo faded onto the screen, I actually got excited, thinking what I had played through was only a prelude, and that the real game was just beginning. Boy, was I dissappointed... There is absolutely no closure, nor hint of continuation, and I personally feel like I just wasted a good 4 hours of my life. That's right, it took me 4 hours to play through start to finish, watching all the cut-scenes in their entirety and restarting instances multiple times. It's just WAY too short, and the story is just WAY too lacking... I'm rating this an 8, simply because the real potential of this title lies in its graphical engine and Time Trial mode. It's worth the purchase simply to experience those two things alone. I still can't get over how real everything looks in-game. The advances in graphic technology over the past year blow my mind... Also, if you do not own an Nvidia graphics card, make sure to flip off the PhysX Support in the Options mode. I have dual ATI cards, and my game lagged like hell until I realized the PhysX was on by default. I'm not too sure why it defaulted to being on, but now that it's off my game runs great on the highest settings with AA cranked to x4. Must have simply been a proprietary conflict...… Expand

While a little shorter than I'd have hoped for, we're expecting some solid DLC so you may get more bang for your buck than you planned on.     The game is a lot of fun. It is too short by far, the story line is terrible and the constant dying can get aggravating. However the game is really innovative and is great to see under this mesh of very similar first person games. Its also nice to see a fps using movement and hand to hand combat rather than just shooting to defeat foes.

    I really enjoyed it and hope there is another.

    By far one of the most amazing games I've played. Admittedly, it was quite a bit short, but perhaps that's just myself yearning for more time to play it. The graphics are drop-dead gorgeous and run ridiculously quickly even on the highest setting.

    MIght as well have given it 10..., my only qualms with it is that it's too damn short and after you master all the moves you may as well complete the game in an hour an half. Other than that it's a perfect synthesis of story, atmosphere, gameplay, graphics, music, sound design and what not. Superb.

    This is a very well styled visually striking game with some pretty big flaws. None of these flaws destroy the experience, but some of them are pretty glaring. The cut-scenes look like cheap cartoons, so the story bits told between levels are just terrible to watch.     The game plays pretty magnificently, though not without issue. Platforming is hit or miss, especially when you are required to jump precisely between points. This isn't a shooter, and elements that push you to use guns only shows all too well that Faith, the game's protagonist, isn't Rambo. She's a runner, and that's where this game shines. The sense of agility and speed in this game is fantastic, nimbly skittering between crates or along rooftops feels so deeply rewarding and unlike anything else I've ever played. Skill and patience will be rewarded, and believe it or not trial and error and experimentation will be rewarded.

    This game is a challenge, it isn't for the meek, the ability to avoid violence is a welcome change from the normal "shoot everything that moves" kind of fare we see a lot in our games now. Barring a few pretty serious production and platforming issues, this game is a sweet experience I recommend to anyone that genuinely feels themselves skilled enough to take it on.    … Expand

    When I first learned about Mirror’s Edge, its basic premise of a first-ever first-person 3D parkour game, that you can outrun your enemies rather than outgun them, caught my attention immediately. Because in Mirror’s Edge, just as in many other games, you are set against an army of faceless, nameless, and merciless drones who are “just doing their jobs and following orders”. But in ME youWhen I first learned about Mirror’s Edge, its basic premise of a first-ever first-person 3D parkour game, that you can outrun your enemies rather than outgun them, caught my attention immediately. Because in Mirror’s Edge, just as in many other games, you are set against an army of faceless, nameless, and merciless drones who are “just doing their jobs and following orders”. But in ME you don't play as a dogged, cynical, serial killer ready to mow down everyone in their path, you play as Faith Connors, a young female runner with sharp wits and some sense of morality about her. I find it much cooler to disarm or knock down some of the policemen in order to flee the rest of them, rather than killing them in dozens.

    When I started playing, I was impressed by the clean-cut visuals and architecture of the City, which captured the futuristic dystopia flawlessly. The main part of the gameplay is running around parkour-style. While playing in first person, you can see your arms and legs and there’s a real sense of momentum, weight, and gravity. It is very rewarding to chain up multiple acrobatic moves to dash through the environment and over various obstacles quickly and seemingly effortlessly.

    Few words about sound; the voice acting is done very professionally for main characters and the psy-trance soundtrack provided by Solar Fields fits the gameplay just perfectly.

    Not everything in the game is this stellar though. The story campaign is quite short and kind of sloppy, with cut scenes done in cartoonish flash animation. The campaign is also a little too heavy on gunfight towards the end and overall does not carry a lot of replay value. I still mostly liked it but it must be said it is probably the weakest part of the game.

    But there’s the trial mode; you can race through various tracks in campaign maps with no enemies around, just against the time. Shaving off seconds and figuring out new paths from checkpoint to checkpoint for faster run-throughs kept me entertained for many hours after beating the game.

    In conclusion, I applaud the developers for taking the risk with this mostly uncharted game design territory and wish them best of luck with their new Mirror’s Edge game, which was announced in June 2013.    … Expand

    The game is not complicated and very beautiful, walkthrough is quick and natural. Innovative gameplay, quality graphics and stylish music the main ingredients for success. Uninteresting storyline somewhat disappointing, but still played well. Overall Mirror`s Edge, of course, not a revolution in the genre, but such projects refresh the gaming industry

However, I do concern the blurry textures in the game sometimes, creepy character models, bad combat, short and complex story, and ruthless gun aim (why is it SO PRECISE!?)

    But overall, I just love this. Worth the price. Any reviews with a rating lower than this should be ignored. If you don't have this game and you are a game addict, it's sad you don't have it. Seriously, this game has got to be played.    … Expand

    Having sped my way across the rooftops trying my best to keep the momentum going in this outstanding and underrated game I think to myself "Why won't more people play games like this?" This game is stylish with great music and setting.

    Mirrors Edge is a pretty good Parcours Game with nice Graphics. The Design of the "white City" is awesome! I really enjoyed playing this game and i really recommend it!

    Scenario is quite bad, looks like from low-budget TV show, but gameplay and universe make it up. You definitely feel the dynamic of Faith's movements and you are often forced to take decisions very fast thus feeling of parkour is awesome. Cyberprep design is great and combination with soundtrack make you really feel that utopian atmosphere in the city.

    Mirror’s Edge hat die perfekte Balance zwischen ruhigen, leicht puzzlehaften und adrenalinpumpenden Passagen. Für mich hat Mirror's Edge das beste Movementsystem das ich je erleben durfte in einem Spiel, egal ob Ego- oder Third-Person-Sicht. Mirror’s Edge spielt bekanntlich in der Egoperspektive. Wer hat gesagt, dass Jump-and-Runs nicht in der Egosicht funktionieren würden? Für mich hat Mirror's Edge das beste Movementsystem das ich je erleben durfte in einem Spiel, egal ob Ego- oder Third-Person-Sicht. Mirror’s Edge spielt bekanntlich in der Egoperspektive. Wer hat gesagt, dass Jump-and-Runs nicht in der Egosicht funktionieren würden? Mirror's Edge beweist eindrucksvoll das Gegenteil und hat einen Meilenstein gesetzt. Gegen Mirror's Edge stinkt JEDES Third-Person-Jump-and-Run meilenweit ab. Mirror's Edge hat die Latte sehr hochgelegt. Das fängt an den perfekt eingefangenen Bewegungen mittels Motion-Capture-Verfahren, einem sehr guten Händchen für Pacing und eine Steuerung die ohne jeglichen Balast oder Behelfsmechaniken auskommt. Mirror's Edge ist zu hundert Prozent direktes Gameplay!

    Intuitiv, flüssig, schnell, immersiv. Es gibt keine Automatismen und genau deswegen fühlt sich das Bewegen und Meistern so belohnend an.

    Leider haben nicht viele Spiele diese Art der Fortbewegung in Videospielen nicht mehr Spieleentwickler aufgenommen. Aber… es gibt einige Spiele die sich der Steuerung und Fortbewegung ala Mirror’s Edge bedienen. Beispielsweise Dying Light – was es aber eher mittelmäßig umsetzt – schon viel besser wird der Geist Mirror’s Edge (zumindest was die geile Art der Fortbewegung angeht) von „Die young“ umgesetzt.

    Mirror’s Edge ist ein kompaktes Erlebnis. Linear, aber nicht zu linear (es gibt stets alternative Wege) und ohne eine Sekunde Leerlauf.

    If you like free running, this is the game for you. I'd recommend this with mouse and keyboard, for it requires some fast response and turning.

    Although the par-course often is very clear, it can be very challenging (especially if you try to get the maximum score). You sometimes have to puzzle, sometimes you have to rush and sometimes you can go through on an easy pace.

    Graphics & Audio
    The graphics are great, it gives you a great feeling when running or falling really fast. Tutorial graphics and the red "help" flashes are very clear and implemented very well.

    This game gives you a great feeling overall, with audio matching the running and fighting.
    Creating tense moments when you are being chased and staying relaxed when you are just running around.

    Conclusion
    Overall this is a great game to play.
    I recommend this game because of it's great story and gameplay.
    The replay value is ok, if you are an achievement whore and want to get the fastest time on every map :).

    This is one of the best EA Games. Graphics is very beatiful for 2009, awesome parkour, storyline is interesting, gameplay is funny and big city, you can fight with security and standard people. Game is very interesting and funny, I think this is one of the best game of 2008. Amazing Game, very good.

    Maybe this is one of my favorite games of all time. The gameplay is awesome, the visuals are very good, the story... regular, but still being an unforgettable experience. Well done DICE and EA!

    Wonderful and unforgettable game. Nice graphics and gameplay. Bright and colorful city. But story is...not enough for me, I wants more. But in 2009 this game looked awesome, so 9/10 from me.

    I till this day cannot understand the flak that Mirrors Edge got when it released in 2007, or the problems people had with the story, which is fine for what it is (especially now that you can compare it to the reboot). Mirrors Edge is the finest (and one of the few) first person parkour games out there.

    Gameplay wise it is a first person puzzle, maze running parkour game spread out over 10 levels at about ‘15 to 25’ minutes apiece, depending on how long the puzzles take. There are also some combat sections (where you have to take down cops to continue and not get shot in the back) which certainly is the weakest part of the game, and are irritating at worst. After completing each level there is also time trials for each level, with competitive ghosts to race against. This extends the gameplay time out a bit. So I would highly recommend getting it on sale and try it out!

    I loved the original Mirror's edge game. The graphics were stunning, and I really loved the aesthetics that the game had. The gameplay was perhaps limited but I re-played it so many times, yet it was still good.

There are really few loading screens because the developers had the decency to make levels load while you are using elevators and other natural transitions. Ennemies quickly become repetitve and a bit boring but always bring some more intensity. There however are some moments when you realize it is impossible for your character to survive some falls if she is truly human. But the game goes on.     He jugado cientos de juegos, pero este juego es una de las pocas obras maestras que siempre recordaré y recomendaré a todo el mundo, al mismo nivel que la saga Portal o Half Life 2.

    Este juego cuenta con un excelente ambientación, la música, los mundos y me encanta el arte en los interiores, la distancia de dibujado es buena, se ve datallada la ciudad y la historia vale la pena. Me hubiera gustado que en PS3 y Xbox 360 tuviera 60fps, pero el juego va estable a 30fps en estas dos maquinas. Buen trabajo por parte de DICE utilzando el Unreal Engine 3.

    Игра разделена на 9 глав, введение и обучение, прошел за 7 часов, но так же для тех кто не наигрался, присутствуют челленджи такие как прохождение на время уровней и т.д

    Шутерная механика тут второстепенная, и вообще по сути не нужна, в xbox 360 даже достижение есть пройдите без убийств, и да можно, но получится чуть подольше, тут скорее приятнее вступать в битву с копами, и бить их оружием им же по черепушке, но нужен скилл)

    Паркурная механика тут на высоте, и чтоб игрок не запутался так как перед разработчиками стояла задача, чтоб игра не превращалась в игру где человек 7 раз подумает 1 прыгнет, а экшен, погодя, прям на ходу прыгает по крышам зданий.

    На сложностях кроме сложного ( который открывается после прохождение игры, что правильно ), подсвечиваются места за которые можно зацепиться, и взаимодействовать, и ведь хорошо вплели, не выбивается из стилистики=), и есть немного баги или неприятные моменты ( бывает я долго тупил на 3 моментах, где я делал все правильно, но персонаж не цеплялся, а потом на 10 попытке, все получалось ) вообщем бывает и пропуск на "пробел" итога скипал катсцены и ползунок диалогов на не затрагивает громкость мультиков.

    И напоследок, музыка в конце запала в душу, и просто отличный саундтрек в игре

    В конце дают знать, что задел на продолжение есть, а собственно продолжение нет ( catalyst ремейк )    … Expand

    This game is an amazing anomaly that probably shouldn't have worked as well as it did. The atmosphere of the game is amazing, and while it took me a little while to grasp the story, it was extremely satisfying once I did. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a fun and unique game that can be found for less than $5 at certain stores

    This game has a generic storyline, and a few bugs. But it is an example in gameplay, it is very cool and well done, it is playable on the controller (I played and played through the ps3) the combat is cool and challenging, the movement works well, the parkour works well. This is just my opinion

    The game is quite short, but it sure hell is an experience. The feel of the flow when clearing levels is something I hadnt seen until neon white and the atmosphere makes you feel like you are a little ant in this huge futuristic world, where the only things you can trust are the legs you are running with.

There are some flaws, though, in particular the short play time, some stiff level design and the overall potential for frustration. But if you manage to go with the flow, you will find Mirror's Edge to be a thrilling and unique gaming experience.
