I'm playing Minecraft: Story Mode with my 8yo son, and we're both enjoying it. It's fun, it's funny, has a strong story and does justice both to Minecraft and Telltale's tradition of excellent story-games. I recommend this game if you 1. Like interactive stories in Telltale's style, 2. enjoy playing Minecraft.

Other people should consider the purchase, but the game may not meet your expectations. Telltale's style is just about opposite from regular Minecraft. Minecraft is open-world, plot-free, unguided, all about freedom while Telltale games are like interactive movies with more movie than interaction. Also this game is very "family friendly" while the other Telltale games I've played are for adults.

I'm a fan of both styles and find this game very enjoyable and worthwhile

    Why this game is hated:

OMG its Minecraft! I hate Minecraft! 0/10!

OMG, its going to ruin Minecraft! 0/10

Overall its a pretty good game, of course, its more kid friendly than other Telltale games, but its enjoyable.
It is loyal to Minecraft logic, and its well done implementing new stuff.

Good game 8/10, you should try it out

Esse jogo é muito interessante, super engraçado e com momentos de drama também, o único mal do game é ser dividido em episódios porque você terminar um capitulo e já fica ansioso pelo próximo.

I really like this game and can't wait for the next episodes. Also for the people who want this game just for the Story, this game is for people who like Minecraft (So, don't expect everyone to like it).

I would give a 6/10 but need to balance out the hate to this. This is aimed at kids, and has successfully done that. I would have like a bit more interaction with the story. Also for people who play Minecraft, you will enjoy this, as I have done, it's not your regular Minecraft but is interesting.

Graphics aren't the best, but you can't really do much since it's based on Minecraft.

Gameplay is fun but I whose there was a bit more interaction to the game and the characters are really interesting. Any humour in this game is from knowing Minecraft, without it it's hard to really feel the game.

Overall I can't except for most people to like it, mainly kids and those who play Minecraft.

This game is excellent. The story line makes me engrossed into the game. I have to say, if you are into gameplay, you probably wouldn't want to play. You sometimes get times to walk and fight, but most of the time, you are pressing keys that appear on the screen to perform an action. But for me, that is okay.

Minecraft Story Mode, it's surprisingly a great game. Even if your a non-Minecraft fan.

1st annoyance... As always, it's running on Telltales engine which means at times voices don't sync up properly with the mouths, the mouths at times don't even move at all or oddly enough there will be characters in the background that don't complete their animation correctly (aka running into objects, etc).

2nd annoyance is whenever you start up the game, it states 'Do you want to enable Cloud Saves?' even though I enabled it last time. Why isn't there an option to save this setting?

3rd annoyance is when you start an episode you can't skip 'Previously on last episode' cut-scene, you can't skip the 'On next episode cut-scenes' or even the credits after each episode.

4th annoyance is that the Xbox One controller didn't work, even though the game says 'Full Controller Support.'

    ----

Other than that, the game can be completed in 11.5 hours (give or take) for 8 total episodes in the 1st season. I got this game during the Telltale Humble Bundle sale in July 2017 for $15. Worth it.

    Friendly Tip:

    - The 3 non-story related achievements can be easily missed. Be sure to keep any eye out for the specific locations while playing to get them, maybe watch YouTube videos or read a Steam guide about them.

Once again, TellTale demonstrates their ability to create games based on anything. Who would have expected an adventure game with a story based on... Minecraft?

Once again, TellTale demonstrates their ability to create games based on anything. Who would have expected an adventure game with a story based on... Minecraft?

I haven't tried and probably never will try the original Minecraft game, but still, I enjoyed this adaptation a lot. Although there were several elements that I didn't particularly like in this game, the gameplay and the story were to my taste. Not as "mind-blowing" as other TellTale titles, but still good nonetheless.

I especially enjoyed episodes three and four. In the first two episodes, I wasn't quite as drawn into the story, and the final episode felt somewhat like filler. In my opinion, the game should have concluded with episode four, although I still liked the last episode.

It took me some time to get used to the pixelated artwork, childlike dialogues, and the story's theme, but I truly believe it was worth it. It's evident that the target audience is the youngest, those who naturally play Minecraft, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the game "too." What bothered me the most, however, were the dialogues and character reactions. The fact that more "aggressive" dialogue options were absent in all conversations and the characters seemed devoid of aggression, regardless of the circumstances. But that's clear, as I mentioned before, since the game is primarily intended for a younger audience.

Nevertheless, I had a good time for most of the game's duration, and to my surprise, I enjoyed the story and even grew a bit attached to the characters. If I were to compare this title with other TT titles from The Walking Dead onwards, Minecraft would probably be the game I'd recommend second to last, The Walking Dead: Michonne being my least favorite. But I'd still recommend it nonetheless.
