But playing this is like watching Hobbit movies. Expand

Overall, the game is too kid friendly and it dosen't want to take any risks what so ever. I was willing to give this game a try as Patton Oswald voices the male protagonist, and he is generally a very funny stand up comic and for that reason i was expecting humor around the level that tales from the borderlands is at, however the "jokes" that are cracked just come off as bad and not in the sense that its so bad its funny either. Its sad to the point where the game thinks the best joke is "would you fight 100 zombie sized chickens or 10 chicken sized zombies".......and if that poor attempt at humor was enough the first time, they pull the joke twice!

Now when i think of a minecraft story done right, i think of elementanimation, with there eggs guide to minecraft videos, which is creative in the way that it portrays its characters convincingly in a story that blends comedy and the occasional serious moment together to make it interesting to watch in the first place. Overall telltale bit off more than they could chew this year with this abysmal attempt at storytelling

    WOW

This game plays it so safe, it comes pre-packed in a condom. Such a sanitary experience. The game does not know who its demographic is and owing to that, the expected Telltale humour and storytelling is lost. This is even more of a "QTE" fest than than the expected Telltale fair. Such a disaster. I am off to play Telltales Monkey Island and Walking Dead to remind me

This game is not that great as a long term minecraft fan the problems are all here minecraft became popular because it was about exploring and the sense of freedom and not being limited to a set story and also the price minecraft costs twenty dollars this game costs more than that and is exceedingly small at about two hours of gameplay while minecraft has loads of replay value and and multiplayey.

I'm playing Minecraft: Story Mode with my 8yo son, and we're both enjoying it. It's fun, it's funny, has a strong story and does justice both to Minecraft and Telltale's tradition of excellent story-games. I recommend this game if you 1. Like interactive stories in Telltale's style, 2. enjoy playing Minecraft.

Other people should consider the purchase, but the game may not meet your expectations. Telltale's style is just about opposite from regular Minecraft. Minecraft is open-world, plot-free, unguided, all about freedom while Telltale games are like interactive movies with more movie than interaction. Also this game is very "family friendly" while the other Telltale games I've played are for adults.

I'm a fan of both styles and find this game very enjoyable and worthwhile

    Why this game is hated:

OMG its Minecraft! I hate Minecraft! 0/10!

OMG, its going to ruin Minecraft! 0/10

Overall its a pretty good game, of course, its more kid friendly than other Telltale games, but its enjoyable.
It is loyal to Minecraft logic, and its well done implementing new stuff.

Good game 8/10, you should try it out

Esse jogo é muito interessante, super engraçado e com momentos de drama também, o único mal do game é ser dividido em episódios porque você terminar um capitulo e já fica ansioso pelo próximo.

I really like this game and can't wait for the next episodes. Also for the people who want this game just for the Story, this game is for people who like Minecraft (So, don't expect everyone to like it).

Minecraft: Story Mode is not so bad, it's basically the usual Telltale feeling that you get from their big titles. I was expecting this game to be a lot worse, but it actually isn't. I gotta admit mature gamers may not like Minecraft: Story Mode, but tone your standards a little bit and you'll see the beauty of what TTG made with the world of Minecraft.

I would give a 6/10 but need to balance out the hate to this. This is aimed at kids, and has successfully done that. I would have like a bit more interaction with the story. Also for people who play Minecraft, you will enjoy this, as I have done, it's not your regular Minecraft but is interesting.

Graphics aren't the best, but you can't really do much since it's based on Minecraft.

Gameplay is fun but I whose there was a bit more interaction to the game and the characters are really interesting. Any humour in this game is from knowing Minecraft, without it it's hard to really feel the game.

Overall I can't except for most people to like it, mainly kids and those who play Minecraft.

This game is excellent. The story line makes me engrossed into the game. I have to say, if you are into gameplay, you probably wouldn't want to play. You sometimes get times to walk and fight, but most of the time, you are pressing keys that appear on the screen to perform an action. But for me, that is okay.

This characters are quite interesting. From Reuben your pig-wingman to Lukas from the rival team, these characters all have there own personality and all are lovable. Even the jerkish ones!
Gameplay was quite fun as well. As a fan of decision making games, I loved how every decision you made could change something. While you can't exactly kill anyone from your choices (Except in one instance) you still feel regret if you make a bad decision and joy if you made a good decision. The Quick Time Events (QTE's) were also fun but a bit tedious at times. I remember in one part I kept missing a certain QTE which led to the main protagonists death many many times. Other than that, not bad.

Overall, this game was quite fun. Telltale games did a very good job on this game. It's not there strongest game, but a good one indeed. Minecraft fans may be skeptical of this game at first like i was, but give it a try. I quite enjoyed, and I think you guys may like it too ^^

1st annoyance... As always, it's running on Telltales engine which means at times voices don't sync up properly with the mouths, the mouths at times don't even move at all or oddly enough there will be characters in the background that don't complete their animation correctly (aka running into objects, etc).

2nd annoyance is whenever you start up the game, it states 'Do you want to enable Cloud Saves?' even though I enabled it last time. Why isn't there an option to save this setting?

3rd annoyance is when you start an episode you can't skip 'Previously on last episode' cut-scene, you can't skip the 'On next episode cut-scenes' or even the credits after each episode.

4th annoyance is that the Xbox One controller didn't work, even though the game says 'Full Controller Support.'

    ----

Other than that, the game can be completed in 11.5 hours (give or take) for 8 total episodes in the 1st season. I got this game during the Telltale Humble Bundle sale in July 2017 for $15. Worth it.

    Friendly Tip:

    - The 3 non-story related achievements can be easily missed. Be sure to keep any eye out for the specific locations while playing to get them, maybe watch YouTube videos or read a Steam guide about them.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For the characters in the story, I am quite disappointed for their characteristics in game. Jesse is too OP. Axel is a very misguided character. Olivia is faithless. Petra is too dependent to Jesse and has no sense of adventure (in Episode 7). Reuben died because his friends (except Jesse) are too useless to prevent his death. Lukas is just a useless addition. Order of the Stone are indeed fake, but also too noob-ish. The Blaze Rods are weak and foolish. Isa is a useless character. The Youtubers are completely weak, they are probably impostors. White Pumpkin is foolish and stupid. PAMA is too stupid. Harper is useless, and has no proof regarding that she's an Old Builder. The Old Builders are also stupid. But Ivor, on the other hand, is just very funny and a natural.

As for the story, there are a million ways to end this without even any NPC character to die, such as Episode 3, Magnus/Ellegard shouldn't have given Jesse the armor, due to Jesse being OP at dodging the Wither Storm.

Once again, TellTale demonstrates their ability to create games based on anything. Who would have expected an adventure game with a story based on... Minecraft?

I haven't tried and probably never will try the original Minecraft game, but still, I enjoyed this adaptation a lot. Although there were several elements that I didn't particularly like in this game, the gameplay and the story were to my taste. Not as "mind-blowing" as other TellTale titles, but still good nonetheless.

I especially enjoyed episodes three and four. In the first two episodes, I wasn't quite as drawn into the story, and the final episode felt somewhat like filler. In my opinion, the game should have concluded with episode four, although I still liked the last episode.

It took me some time to get used to the pixelated artwork, childlike dialogues, and the story's theme, but I truly believe it was worth it. It's evident that the target audience is the youngest, those who naturally play Minecraft, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the game "too." What bothered me the most, however, were the dialogues and character reactions. The fact that more "aggressive" dialogue options were absent in all conversations and the characters seemed devoid of aggression, regardless of the circumstances. But that's clear, as I mentioned before, since the game is primarily intended for a younger audience.

Nevertheless, I had a good time for most of the game's duration, and to my surprise, I enjoyed the story and even grew a bit attached to the characters. If I were to compare this title with other TT titles from The Walking Dead onwards, Minecraft would probably be the game I'd recommend second to last, The Walking Dead: Michonne being my least favorite. But I'd still recommend it nonetheless.
