This metroidvania has great 2D graphics, but is marred by an overplayed storyline, bland enemies, and serious bugs.

But MindSeize is still a product, and I think it should be judged just as any other piece of work would.
And sadly, I do not think MindSeize is a very good game. It has plenty of smaller game design flaws that add up to a game that feels difficult in all the wrong ways. Especially the bosses can feel extremely unfair and unforgiving at times. Challenge would not be an issue, but even with the game's easy mode, the game would be nigh impossible to complete for a newcomer to the genre.
The game isn't exactly mind-blowing in other areas either, which doesn't help the gameplay. Some of the game's pixel art looks great, but on the other hand, some aspects such as the protagonist's run cycle look very unnatural.

Thankfully the game isn't all bad. For the most part, the world is fun to explore, and while not perfect, the combat does have some depth.
I believe that this studio can still achieve something great. Hopefully, the next title will be something a little less ambitious so that the team has more time to test and polish it to perfection.

That being said, I sadly still cannot recommend the game. Over 20 dollars is a bit much, considering that games like Hollow Knight are a mere 15 dollars.
