Cheat Code CentralThis is one seriously disturbed game, but deep down in my heart I know I could have made it even more unholy if given the chance.
-
It does make use of the almost bare and gloomy surroundings to conjure up a feeling of despair.
-
While possessing a solid visual and audio presentation, its gameplay suffers from bizarre puzzle design that is far from intuitive. Although a streamlined interface help to make interacting with game environments easy, the unusual puzzles make it difficult to progress through this intriguing game.
-
Good atmosphere, decent music, utterly crappy puzzles.
-
The pity is that you get the feeling the game would be a lot more effective if the main character had a drier, more morbid sense of humor. As it is, the attempts to crack weird jokes takes away from the otherwise eerie atmosphere of the game.
-
The puzzle structure, iffy dialogue, and subject matter make this a hard recommendation to a general audience. As the score indicates, unless youre a hardcore horror/adventure fan, it might be wise to first play the demo, or await a price-drop.
-
Midnight Nowhere will leave you feeling like youre in the middle of nowhere. Horror game fans will probably be able to tolerate the game, but others might have a problem.
-
Unfortunately, having to battle the interface made the game tedious, and I lost interest about a third of the way through.
-
Midnight Nowhere has a very creepy atmosphere, excellent puzzles, and great voice acting. If it weren't for the terrible translations, it might be one of the best adventure games of the year.
