Sep 20, 2019This reviewer cannot deny that despite obvious flaws and frankly boring interludes in Metal Wolf Chaos XD’s gameplay, it is a game that will be remembered fondly.
-
Sep 11, 2019Despite its brutal third act, Metal Wolf Chaos XD is big, loud, and silly in all the best ways.
-
Aug 7, 2019Metal Wolf Chaos XD isn't particularly lengthy or challenging, but it's very entertaining and downright hilarious. As long as you're okay with playing what's mostly a straight port of an Xbox game from 2004, there's a good time to be had here.
-
Aug 6, 2019Metal Wolf Chaos XD is a totally unique experience that is worthwhile for anyone who's a fan of early 2000's action, or satirical and off-the-wall humor.
-
Aug 6, 2019Despite its excellent, beautiful catastrophe of a script, Metal Wolf Chaos XD is a tough sell. Why would players want to spend time on a game with gameplay this dated? The reason is simple: Metal Wolf Chaos XD is a reminder that games can be fun even if they don’t meet wider notions of what makes them ‘good.’ The title is mindless fun, a distraction from the confines of what audiences expect when they play a game.
-
Aug 6, 2019Metal Wolf Chaos XD is definitely a game that will appeal to fans of quirky, kooky comedy. It’s a janky budget title that lacks polish in level design and game mechanics, but makes up for it in the weirdness.
-
Aug 6, 2019Metal Wolf Chaos XD is a very curious game. The humour and tone hits the nail on the head with characters and situations that overflow with old-fashionedness, but on the other hand we are dealing with a game that dates back to 2004. The simplicity of the game design means that after only a few hours we feel like we've done everything the game has to offer — and the awful artistic direction doesn't help matters. Only the effective fight mechanics and the unique tone keeps us on our toes.
-
Aug 8, 2019Metal Wolf Chaos XD has moments of entertaining mayhem, but they are hidden beneath layers of dated gameplay, nonsensical story, and gated behind a high asking price. Instead of being able to potentially discover a lost classic, mech fans get a rusted out blast from the past.
-
Aug 6, 2019The ridiculous premise of Metal Wolf Chaos far outstrips what its gameplay can deliver, but this international release is still good for a laugh.

Aug 6, 2019Metal Wolf Chaos XD is one of those re-releases where even though I can’t recommend everyone immediately rush out and buy it, I’m really happy it exists. It might not be the greatest game in the world, but it’s a unique cultural artifact that didn’t deserve to be locked away on Japan-exclusive Xbox discs forever.
