If you have never played this game before, I envy you. You are in for possibly the best gaming experience to date.
-
AntagonistOne of the greatest games ever made, and if you haven't played it, you're denying yourself nothing but fun.
-
CheckOutCombining action and adventure isn't an easy thing to do, but Konami has pulled it off beautfiully with Metal Gear Solid.
-
The port is great, the game is fantastic, and despite no multiplayer support, the sheer size of the game (if you include the VR Missions) means that your money will be well spent.
-
All in all, despite the less than stellar PC graphics, Metal Gear Solid remains an intense gaming experience with a gripping story and heart-stopping action.
-
If you enjoyed the PlayStation version, this might be worth picking up simply for the free Metal Gear Solid VR Missions.
-
This is the definitive version of Metal Gear Solid and it's only available on the PC. Go tell your console owning buddies and watch 'em cringe.
-
Daily RadarIf you're one of those hardcore "PC Only!" types that don't own a console, you'll definitely want to shell out the 35 smackers for this baby in order to find out just what the hell everyone was talking about two years ago.
-
One of the best action-movie games on any platform. Some frustrating camera placement and a save-game that takes some getting used to take very little away from the excellent sneak-and-peek gameplay.
-
Reaching a new high in sound achievement MGS is must own title for anyone that is a fan of stealth type games.
-
It's one of the best PlayStation games of all time, so if you're not familiar with the original, or even if you're a fan who wants to play the complete Metal Gear Solid in higher resolution, then you should definitely try Metal Gear Solid for the PC.
-
With the enhanced visuals, the wealth of gameplay provided by both MGS and VR Missions, and the simple fact that MGS is fantastic title in the first place makes this a pretty smart buy for any PC gamer.
-
Still a great game, but just wait until next year for the real show.
-
PC gamers who have had no prior exposure to this game will definitely want to take a look, as this is still the same great game it always was.
-
This is the best console-to-PC conversion I have seen in any game.
-
It's also rather obvious that the developers realised towards the end of the game that it was going to be far too short, resorting to the old trick of forcing you to backtrack across large portions of the game world (no less than three times!) to make it seem longer.
-
For those of you who have already played Metal Gear Solid on the Playstation, you don't need to pick this up, because it's the same thing.
-
The major problems were addressed, the graphics were improved, and additional gameplay modes were added. What more could you ask for?
-
PC GamerA chance for PC gamers to experience the best of teh lat generation of console games. [Dec 2000, p.156]
-
CNET GamecenterFor those unfamiliar with the title, this is a chance to check out one of the better console games ever made, warts and all.
-
If you're not caught up in the latest deathmatch FPS, and are willing to overlook some graphic glitches, Metal Gear Solid is a challenge worth picking up.
-
May have been the first game to blaze the "stealthy action" trail, but the irony is that more recent PC offerings (such as "Thief") have since done it better, which leaves this port showing its age.
-
In the six hours that it takes to finish Metal Gear Solid, there is little more than an hour's interaction.
