Oct 15, 2025As a faithful remake of a classic PS2 action game, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is proof that Metal Gear Solid 3 can, indeed, survive one of popular culture's most relentless challenges: the test of time.
-
Aug 27, 2025In the end, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater proves that there is nothing quite like Metal Gear Solid on offer today. Konami has proven that it still has what it takes, while staying true to the original effort, and modernising in all the right places. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater sits alongside Silent Hill 2 as one of the best remakes in gaming.
-
Aug 23, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater delivers a faithful remake of the 2004 classic, blending stealth, action, and espionage with stunning visuals, engaging story, and refined gameplay.
-
Aug 22, 2025A practically flawless remake of an already incredible title, METAL GEAR SOLID Δ should be on your radar.
-
Aug 22, 2025A legend is brought back to life with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, in a surprisingly sensitive remake from Konami featuring developers from the original.
-
Sep 24, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is still a welcome return to one of the greatest games ever made. Unless you specifically want to experience Snake Eater exactly as it was in the early 2000s, this is the version to play. It is the best-looking and best-playing release among all the ports, remasters, and remakes. If you've never played it before, it is an easy recommendation — Snake Eater has aged like fine wine, and Delta makes it taste just a little better.
-
Sep 19, 2025As long as you know what kind of strange journey you’re signing up for, you’re getting the chance to comfortably revisit - or experience for the first time - one of the most unique and phenomenal games ever made, presented almost exactly as it was two decades ago.
-
Sep 9, 2025In Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, his name appears on the screen more often than in the original. The gameplay has been perfectly preserved, and MGS3 has never looked more luxurious graphically.
-
Sep 4, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta is one of the best examples of what a remake should be. Without disrespecting the original masterpiece, it introduces graphical and quality of life improvements that make the game more accessible to a modern audience, accustomed to some advances in the genre, freed from the technical restraints of the PS2. All the changes are subtle and optional, making Delta an experience capable of pleasing purists and novices alike, something that few remakes are capable of achieving.
-
Aug 22, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is so faithful it missed out on a few opportunities to bring it into the present, but it's still a fantastic game nonetheless.
-
Aug 22, 2025Diving back into Snake Eater in a remastered, more fluid and modernized remake with a revised control system is undoubtedly an offer few would be able to resist. We would have liked to see a little more courage—after all, a betrayal for a just cause would have given the production character—but we understand that Delta is the first timid step toward a new direction for the series. We remain curious to see how Konami will expand its ambitions in terms of re-releases of past installments, perhaps in Volume 2 of the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection or, who knows, with future remakes and, why not, new episodes. A reverential homage, perhaps too much so, but nonetheless essential for fans.
-
Aug 22, 2025Konami has taken great care with the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, bringing this legendary spy thriller to a new audience with a modernized play style and thoughtful QoL tweaks to suit today’s gamers. If you haven’t played Snake Eater or any of the MGS series before, this is the perfect entry point into Hideo Kojima’s magnum opus.
-
Aug 21, 2025Delta isn't the first instance of Hideo Kojima's beloved classic being updated and re-released, but it is the first complete rebuild of MGS3. It successfully modernizes visuals, tweaks game design, and updates controls so that the game sits comfortably alongside its action game contemporaries. From a content perspective, Konami has played it incredibly safe, using the same voice work and music, and leaving the story completely unaltered--effectively making Delta a one-to-one remake. But I can't fault that, especially when I found myself once again enraptured by Snake's tortuous mission to pull the world out of nuclear danger and fight for survival in a dangerous jungle. The impact of Konami's efforts was such that, for eight hours, I wasn't an adult yearning for the lost feelings that made me love Metal Gear Solid 3; I was the teenager living them for the first time again.
-
Aug 25, 2025I’m absolutely delighted with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. This is the more beautiful, modern version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater that my heart desires. While Delta doesn’t innovate in the way the recent Resident Evil remakes do, that’s understandable given the weight of the original. Another great touch is that purists can dive into the settings to make the game as ‘faithful’ as possible. Unfortunately, a 60 frames-per-second cap on PC is downright absurd, especially since frame drops—though rare—can still occur.
-
Aug 21, 2025A gorgeous remake of a true classic that could, and maybe should, have tried to do a tiny bit more.
-
Aug 31, 2025MGS Delta: Snake Eater is clearly the best way to experience this classic masterpiece, even given the minor issues it includes. It is one of the best and most unique games of all time, which now received an update that continues to provide us with the quality and charm of the original combined with modern elements that make the experience even more accessible and enhanced.
-
Aug 22, 2025Konami is playing it cool with this remake of Metal Gear Solid 3, one of the most popular episodes in the series, presented here in a luxurious package. The work of the Japanese publisher and Virtuos gives Snake a nice facelift under Unreal Engine 5, while retaining what made the 2004 release so appealing. Very short and too easy in normal difficulty mode, MGS Delta is a title that needs to be explored several times to fully appreciate its gameplay, which is much deeper and more interesting than it first appears.
-
Aug 22, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta succeeds in its bet to bring a legendary game up to date. 21 years after its release, MGS 3 remains a masterpiece thanks to its incredible storyline, memorable characters, and fast-paced adventure that never gets boring. For new players, its 4K visual overhaul with realistic rendering and comfort options make it an excellent entry point, while fans will be delighted to find all the content surrounding this episode in a single game. But for fear of distorting the original work, Konami has kept some flaws, such as an inconsistent artificial intelligence, but above all, gameplay marked by a certain heaviness that will discourage more than one. In any case, it's hard to deny the pleasure of seeing MGS return to the forefront, hoping that it leads to a new adventure next time.
-
Sep 11, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta is a safe, almost identical remake of the classic stealth adventure.
-
Aug 27, 2025A loving remake of an absolute classic, tailor-made for everyone who loved it back in the day. For newcomers, this means they'll have to get used to many quirks, but the nostalgia trip is rewarding for both parties: It contains moments that have made gaming history.
-
Aug 27, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a stunning, faithful remake that beautifully preserves the 2004 classic, but its reluctance to add anything new makes it feel more like a remaster than a reimagining.
-
Aug 26, 2025Although it can't match the thrill of a truly new entry in the series, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is an honorable and beautiful recreation of the original stealth masterpiece.
-
Aug 22, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is unequivocally the best way to play Metal Gear Solid 3 if you’re all about modern comforts and higher frame rates. But under all the modernising gloss, it’s the same silly, daft game full of world-saving babble, over-the-top performances, surprise-stuffing, and a confounding script that’s very much a product of its time, for better or for worse.
-
Aug 22, 2025Snake Eater, in its time travel 20 years into the future, hasn’t fully managed to preserve its masterpiece status in every sense, but it has succeeded in remaining a truly one-of-a-kind experience.
-
Aug 22, 2025A visually outstanding remake of a timeless classic with captivating story, modern gameplay, and a few technical flaws.
-
Aug 22, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has modernized one of the most memorable games in gaming history for a new generation of players. Set in the gloomy atmosphere of the Cold War, this journey is one of the strongest examples of how deep and impressive a video game can be. It's hard to call it a complete remake, because apart from the modern camera angle, it remains very faithful to the original.
-
Aug 21, 2025Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater wants to have its cake and eat it too by remaining incredibly faithful to the original while also updating some key aspects like the controls and visuals. To die-hard fans of the PS2 classic, this is less of a definitive remake of the game and more just another way to play a fantastic game. Newcomers are certainly in for a treat, however, as Δ smooths over the original’s rougher edges for a more modern experience. It loses a lot in the translation, like some of the nuance in stealth and combat, but remains a thoroughly enjoyable experience.
-
Aug 21, 2025While much of what I loved about Snake Eater is attached to the time and place of a boundary-pushing PS2 game in 2004, revisiting it through Metal Gear Solid Delta in 2025 came with a big burst of modernized nostalgia. It's not an expansive or complex game by today’s standards, and so parts can be underwhelming if you’re coming from a more modern Metal Gear. But it often shows how good stealth-action mechanics can age well, and the political drama with Kojima's signature brand of campiness is intact. To me, these are the things that make Metal Gear so memorable – and while some of it is eyerolling, the emotional highs of Snake Eater's story still hit as hard as I remember. Part of me is still curious about why this was made if it wasn’t going to come with more substantial changes outside of the big visual upgrade. However, if I were to point someone to one of the many versions available, this is the one I'd recommend, whether they're revisiting or playing for the first time. Kojima and the original team may not have been involved in this remake, but the spirit of Snake Eater persists.
-
Aug 21, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is so close to the original that you probably already know if you'll like it or not. Some controls and visuals have been modernized, but even those built so closely on pre-existing foundations that it doesn't attempt to bring it into the modern conversation. Even so, I can't begrudge a faithful recreation of one of my favorite games ever made.
-
Aug 28, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a faithful remake that honors Kojima’s 2004 classic, pairing striking Unreal Engine 5 visuals with smoother controls and the option to switch between a classic isometric view and a modern third person camera. The story, performances, and presentation still hit hard, making this a strong entry point for newcomers. However, conservative design choices keep boss encounters and area transitions largely unchanged, enemy AI often feels weaker than the original, and fresh ideas are limited. As a tribute it succeeds, as a reinvention it plays it safe.
-
Aug 22, 2025Is Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater the ultimate version of this legendary classic? Honestly, not really. It’s a competent remake, but because Konami plays it so safe, I feel there’s little reason to pick up this new version – especially considering the issues on PC. On consoles it might be a different story, but unfortunately we haven’t been able to test those yet. The game looks stunning, but in this remake it feels too easy. If you’ve never played Metal Gear Solid 3 before, you can pick up MGS Δ without hesitation. Purists, however, will undoubtedly remain loyal to the original versions. What I mainly hope is that Konami takes the right lessons from this remake. Fans are craving a true continuation of the series. A remake of a game that still holds up perfectly well will never score outstandingly. Hopefully Konami won’t misinterpret that as a lack of interest in the franchise and put Metal Gear Solid back on ice.
-
Aug 22, 2025Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater is the best way to play this classic game, and again live its magical moments and powerful story. The PC version is solid and free of technical issues as well. Delta feels outdated in some aspects like the loading screens and can't stand up to the other brilliant Konami remake that was released last year - that is Silent Hill 2 - but Snake Eater is a unique game and there is still nothing quite like it.
-
Nov 17, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is a beautiful and sometimes thrilling movie and an outdated game. It is a boring retelling of the original that has nothing to offer the player, except for modern graphics and modern controls.
-
Edge MagazineSep 4, 2025Delta is compelling because of the quality of its source material, but it does feel disposable - a curio more in the vein of a talented bootleg modification than the kind of reenvisioning that would truly justify its existence. [Issue#415, p.92]
-
Aug 22, 2025Perhaps in a few years, when we all have RTX 5090s, it will be a different story. But in the here and now, Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater on PC with mods to fix up some of the issues with that version is my preferred way to play.
-
Aug 31, 2025Though incredibly faithful to the original, severe performance issues plague this remake of Snake Eater. While the game could and likely will be made playable down the line, it is hard to recommend the title at the time of writing, where severe framerate issues and engine-level crashes plague the PC version of the game.

Aug 21, 2025Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater modernizes the classic mechanics of the original while preserving the breathlessly tense feeling of its stealth gameplay, and its painstakingly accurate recreation of the original’s aesthetic and vibrantly beating cinematic heart preserve so much of why these games have withstood the test of time. Should Delta be not just a one-off but the dawn of a new generation for Metal Gear Solid, it’s a promising one indeed.
