This is an excellent collection of even better Mega Man games. With the new options, it gives a chance to even new players to join and experience it. While leaving enough new things and old memories for the veterans to once again experience and nostalgically remember.

Overall, you'd be hard-pressed to beat the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection. All of the games are enjoyable, the new features make them far easier to consume for modern players, and the love to the series spills out of every frame. It's just a very good collection of very good games, even if the title is utterly absurd.

Mega Man Zero/ ZX Legacy collection is a must for all fans of the franchise. Boasting a complete reproduction of all six games, along with tons of content and the addition of save-assist and casual modes, it may even attract newcomers. That is if they can ever become able to sidestep the musky feel of the nigh twenty-year-old gameplay.

The games in the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy still deliver, but the bonus features are pretty standard fare.

Xbox One controller works flawlessly. Did not test keyboard, because the game is intense enough the ergonomy of that is not good enough for me. Make sure your controller has a precise D-Pad.
There is no lag I can tell of, works otherwise flawless.

    My pet peeves:

    - Optional CRT filter is bad and makes blacks grey for some reason.
    - ZX could have gotten a new map for easier navigation.
    - Zero 1 could have received an optional stat squish so grinding EXP and E-Crystals is on par with Zero 2.

The games themselves are peak 2D platforming in my opinion. The normal audience should check the casual mode, because the default normal difficulty is brutal. Hard mode in Zero is mostly just restricting. The included save-assist is a must anyway. The stages and bosses are notoriously difficult to get a truly clean run in, so don't feel discouraged grinding out the mechanics. Gameplay itself is strict in Z1/Z2, but more dynamic in Z3/Z4. But especially Zero 3 and 4 give you easy access to helping tools as subtanks and elves.

Zero 1: Nice world building, issues with grinding, even if you know farming spots and that you have to use your new abilities to level weapons slightly faster. Gameplay feels slightly redundant, because a lot of its content gets a rework in Zero 2 and Zero 3.

Zero 2/3/4 are all on par with highly precise controls, nice levels and great bosses. They do have their issues and strenghts, but thanks to save-assist it is fine. Zero 4 crafting recipes require an external guide. Gamefaqs is your friend.

Zero 1-3 is the main story arc and Zero 4 is kind of an epilogue. Zero 3/4 feel more polished.

ZX/ZXA are very good games too and have a more modern game design philosophy, but retain the precise controls of the Zero series.

A must have for not simply Mega Man fans, but people who were a fan of the X series. It does it justice, plus then some.
