PC Gamer UKAn inventive and enjoyable puzzle platformer. [Sept 2010, p.84]
-
The visual style and nice mix of platforming and drawing are sure to help it stand out, but the game doesn't match the depth of some of the better entries in the field.
-
If you look for a relatively short, entertaining game, Max and the Magic Marker is the right one for you. Fun gameplay, innovative ideas and loads of options make you replay levels over and over again.
-
Max & the Magic Marker is well worth a purchase for anyone who has a younger PC gamer in the house.
-
PC Zone UKA good game, but it won't hit Peggle-esque heights of fame. [May 2010, p.87]
-
In the end, it often comes down to understanding the solution but not being able to feasibly execute it. Add these difficulties to a rather repetitive five-hour adventure, and the game becomes more of a chore than an adventure.
-
Help Max draw his way out of trouble in this clever physics based platformer.
-
LEVEL (Czech Republic)Sweet and adorable platformer focused primarily on kids suffering from inaccurate controls that ruin the whole adventure. Too much frustration comes from this console conversion. [Issue#191]
-
Despite my problems with 'earlier' versions, Max and the Magic Marker has a lot more polish than I'd expect from a casual game, but not nearly as much as I'd expect from a commercially sold unit.
-
While I enjoyed playing Max & The Magic Marker on the PC, the overall experience felt cheapened by the fact it controlled better on the Wii and was priced higher than it should have been.
-
While not completely innovative, Max & the Magic Marker offers a cute and fresh, albeit brief, platformer for those young at heart.
