Players assume the roles of more than 20 Marvel Super Heroes including Spider-Man, Wolverine, Blade and Captain America, and through their actions determine the fate of both planet Earth and the Marvel universe – revealed in one of multiple epilogues. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance offers total team customization, where players create their own team name, icon and vehicle, as well as establish their team reputation as they play throughout the story. Gamers also have the option to level up each character individually to their liking, or all team members at the same time to keep their heroes balanced. With the game's new combat system, players battle against the world's most notorious Marvel Super Villains in the air, underwater, and on the ground, using grappling, blocking and dodging moves, by charging up their Super Hero powers before unleashing them, and using environmental objects as one and two-handed weapons. Marvel: Ultimate Alliance features a storyline where the missions players accept, the objectives they complete, and their interactions with other characters throughout the game directly impact how the story plays out. The game also features a robust multiplayer component where fans can band together with friends as their favorite Marvel Super Heroes, and fight evil in both on and offline cooperative story modes. There's also a Competitive Mode where the game tracks various in-game stats so players can see how well they stack up against one another – affecting the amount of experience points earned and how equipment is distributed. 1. The game includes tons of gameplay, a plethora of Marvel characters, a great presentation, and successfully balances the action and RPG elements, while letting players choose just how much they want to micromanage.
  2. Even despite its few flaws, MUA is a blast to play. If you’ve ever enjoyed an X-men Legends game, MUA is a step above and beyond that. RPG and dungeon crawler fans along with comic-book lovers will find much to love about MUA.
  3. While Marvel Ultimate Alliance isn't reinventing the wheel carved by X-Men Legends and X-Men Legends II, it certainly puts Armor All on the sides, slides in some new rims, and adds aquatread.
  4. There are some glitches, but the pure joy of unlocking that next hero and then trying to come up with the perfect team is reason enough to work through the game a couple of times.
  5. A very fun game that has a lot of polish.
  6. If you're a fan of the X-Men Legends games that have appeared over the last few years you'll know what to expect from Marvel: Ultimate Alliance, but you'll probably still be surprised at how polished and lengthy the game is.

Cynical and unimaginative - but fun. [Jan 2007, p.102]

Almost everyone is here, the Avengers, prominent X-Men, Fantastic 4. The DLC is where the game shines so look for the premium version that features them on disc since they're no longer sold online.

The story is legitimately intriguing in a way that allows the exploration of the Marvel universe while staying grounded to the main plot.

The combat in this game is also its peak. The base A, B system for light and heavy attacks with 9 variations gives a surprising amount of depth to CQC fighters. But the main draw is the bevy of powers you get per character. You'll be spamming them mostly and all of them are extremely immersive in making you feel like you're playing that character. Boss fights consist of quick time events as was the style of the time, they're repetitive and dull after the first couple of times but they're infrequent and short enough to not drag down the campaign experience.

    Collectables everywhere.

The voice acting is top notch too. I often speak to characters multiple times with different heroes interested in any easter egg interactions. Deadpool is a standout. Music is good for setting up atmosphere especially in Murder World.

And another main draw that most miss out on is that it has full fledged 4 player local co-op, I don't think the online aspects work anymore though.

Some people might be turned off by the apparent shallowness of the combat. There are no coordinated combo attacks like in the Ultimate Alliance 2 but I feel those are overhyped, the combo system here is serviceable and allowed for a larger roster of heroes to be played which is better than fewer heroes with combination moves in my own opinion.

You might come across an occasional glitch or crash but I played dozens of times with different teams and never came across anything game breaking or corrupted save files, but you can have multiple saves if you want anyway.

10/10 Best dungeon crawler I've played.

There is something about this style of hero team gameplay(started in XMEN Legends) that is just so satisfying to play.

The RPG aspects could be explained better, but there is enough there to have some fun tinkering with skills and combinations across a couple dozen heroes. The fighting would get repetitive but you can switch character(and therefore playstyles) on the fly. Also, and this is getting lost in the online generation, this is one of the best local multiplayer game types I have ever played. The games is played with 4 heroes on screen and you and a friend each pick one but can switch from the 4 on screen whenever you want. It can create some fun combos though maybe letting the screen move out a little more for when you are separated would have been a huge help in some areas.

Overall if you look at this game on a technical level its really fairly poor, but there is just a charm to it that cannot be denied. It is greater than the sum of its parts.

Co op oynaması eğlenceli, karakterlerin çok olmasa da farklı oynanışı hissettirdiği güzel bir oyundu.

I played for about 2 hours online with 2 local friends of mine and it's pretty obvious this game has P2P networking because the gameplay I played for about 2 hours online with 2 local friends of mine and it's pretty obvious this game has P2P networking because the gameplay was extremely sluggish. We dropped one of the players and it got better but it was still pretty bad. The gameplay itself is extremely linear and has a console-port feel to it. Probably better played on an actual console for online cooperative play. Expand
