Jun 27, 2013It may be free to play, but the cost of actually spending time with Marvel Heroes is too damn high. The idea is solid, but completely lacking the spirit of what makes these timeless heroes so popular over multiple decades of action.
-
Jul 25, 2013Under-delivers on the promise of the licence. A middling action-RPG that you’d have to be a Marvel fan to love.

games(TM)Jul 28, 2013There's the hollow shell of a game. [Issue#137, p.116]

Jul 15, 2013Marvel Heroes defines most of the things i hate about Free to play-titles. It's a broken experience that doesnt feel finished at all, instead it feels like a cheap cash in on the current popularity of Marvel characters. The lack of rotation on the free heroes and the absurd pricing for new ones is just one example of crappy design decisions. Stay away.
-
Jul 12, 2013The game is also lumbered with a tragic split personality. On one hand, there’s a lot to do, and if you like the look of one of the initial five heroes you can do all of it for free with a little grinding. On the other hand, Marvel Heroes is so eager for you to spend – and so keen to extract the most out of your wallet when you do – that the price tag of the game in real-world terms can soon become astonishingly disproportionate to its quality.
-
Jun 21, 2013While Marvel Heroes does some nice things, the Marvel license isn’t enough to cover up glaring technical and design flaws. As much as I wanted to like this game, I can’t recommend something that is, at its core, broken. In the end, you get what you pay for (or less, if you actually invested in this).
-
Jun 20, 2013The most absurd thing about this game - where all the scenery explodes, where one of the characters is big and green, where you can hurl cars at people - is that it thinks it deserves either your time or your money.
-
Jun 11, 2013As an ARPG it’s average at best, but its MMO trappings only compound the frustration.
-
Jun 25, 2013The combat is dull, the graphics are boring, even the heroes – the games' big selling point – are totally underwhelming. Not to mention ridiculously expensive for any extras. It's free to try, but it's not really worth the bandwidth either.
