The physics are great and make everything feel right, especially when you land a few tricks in a row perfectly. I'd give it a 10 if we could adjust the difficulty and make it even harder by catching edge if you land crooked. Keep up the good work you bloody champions ! Cant wait for Infinite Air 2! Expand

The game is made in Unity 5! I dont like this engine, so many bad games are made with it and as i found out Infinite Air uses that engine i expected the worst...but damn...my next point is the gameplay and that is so fantastic.

    The gameplay.
Many negative reviews state that they thought its like Skate but it isnt...let me tell you something: It is but not.
Its maybe hard to grasp but if you know and love the gameplay which offers Skate you will feel home instantly, you flick the right stick and make an Ollie, You press LT or RT and make a grab, or both and a double grab.

What people dont get is how the LT and RT buttons work BEFORE you jumped from a ramp.
They act as prespin and the right stick, in combination with LT/RT, brings out different things.
So when you prepare an Ollie to jump from a ramp but press LT/RT before you jumped you will spin/flip because thats for what the buttons are.
Means: Hold Right Stick down, Press LT or RT down and when you want to pull the Ollie(Right Stick flicking up) you will make a Misty flip or a cork. Depends when you release RT/LT.

Grinds are well done too, it has some snapping but not too much. You can freely move your board on the rail with LS like at Skate, looks really cool. Especially combined with the physical bending of the board(in air too when you grab!). That looks really dope. What i miss is grabs when you grind but i get why they didnt included that, it would interfere with the prespin stuff.

You can ingame press Escape and bring up a tricklist with 12 pages when you are in a run(doesnt come up in freeroam on a mountain, hope devs will add that).

    _________
The graphics are nice, nearly everything looks fine for me,
beside the tree pop-in which happens very far away but can get a bit annoying if you look at it.
When you have time to look for that you play the game wrong anyway i think. ;)
I got no fps problems at all, very smooth and well made i must say.

Soundtrack has some nice tracks on it which range from rock to electro. But i have the feel they arent that many on it. Didnt found a tracklist either but im sure there is one track from the THPS series on it, atleast a cover from it. Not so epic like Boomfunk MCs - Freestyler at Steep but still epic ;)
    _________

    The editor
Ok, the editor. Beside the gameplay itself i would say its the main part of the game.
It starts out with generating your mountain(hah! Thats why its named Infinite Air ;) ) and you can set different values for steepness, powder, wind, height and so on. You can enter a Seed which inflicts how the mountains get generated and a Name. And voila, your very own mountain only for you(until you Publish it for the whole world).

After that you can edit the mountain how you like with different props like rails, ramps, halfpipes, buildings, stones, trees and such things. You can change the snow and how its formed(sadly not a full terraforming) down to the mountain surface. You can do very much with it. Spend nearly the whole day on my mountain and i still only finished a small part. Details details!

But, there are things i really dislike too(i opened a thread in the Steam forums with additions i would like to see), like that it is way too focused on a controller. Its sometimes hard to make minor changes or to snap things to the right thing.
Would be easier if they had focused more on a mouse/keyboard friendly editor. But i understand why it is like it is, they will sell a buttload more copies on console as on PC so they of course focused on it. I just hope they will further update the game with needed things for the editor and other things people bring up

They just patched in a Redo function some people wished for. They hear us out :)
    _____________________________________________
Another plus point is that the team isnt that big and they are near to the community how it seems. You will see posts from different people of HB Games in the forums.

It makes so much fun to cruise around on the mountains and runs from players. Its fun to pull off some sick 1800° spin and next round you do some more simulation like run, its up to you how you drive.

    + Simulation
    + World Editor
    + Crossshared Mountains/Runs between all 3 systems
    + Good graphics
    + Good Sountrack

    - Editor could use some additional items
    - and more features in Editor like the just patched in Redo function
    - lack of Multiplayer features(only 2 player MP, no lobby stuff)

This is no pick up and play like a pro game. No button mashing and landing cool tricks. Prepare yourself to gradually grasp the controls and over time pull off some pretty cool **** For sure the new skate of snowboarding. Very comparable in difficulty. I would rank IA as a difficult game but very rewarding once mastered. Just drop in and shred. Love it.

Best snowboarding game out there. If you are in to arcady stuff this might not be for you, but any "real" snowboard fan as well as fans of the EA Skate series will love this. And what is really awesome is the responsiveness of the developers. Very active with the community and are listening to feedback to improve the game even more.

This game is snowboarding sim that features unparalleled sense of speed and freedom of movement. With built in editor there are a lot of really fun user created parks but even it there was only one level with only one rail you could still have a lot of fun, its just that good. Do yourself a favor and give this one attention it deserves.

Awesome, awesome game. The SKATE of snowboarding. Takes a little to get comfortable, but amazing feeling when you do. So nice shredding down a mountain and so relaxing. Even more fun when you can board with a friend. If I ever can't decide what to play, it's between this and Rocket League. I really love this game.

This game's control is similar in some ways but overall a lot more in depth (complex) than Skate, that being said if you want an easily controllable games this game might not be for you. Often times it needs precise timing to do the same tricks twice. But if you don't mind learning and challenges this will be the closest game on PC to Skate.

Despite providing authentic snowboarding experience it could be, there's definitely a bit arcade elements I guess to draw more players. For example if landing not perfectly often times you'd still land, but comes with awkward animation, so this pushes me to land as clean as possible.

If there's not much of speed, just do an ollie.
Graphically there are some weird pop outs but I guess that's just Unity being Unity. Performance is good though, often time Unity games would cause my CPU fan go nuts after some time of playing, this game is not the case. (i5 6600)

So above are few of the things to take note, but otherwise brilliant game!
Edit: Few things I didn't notice but is actually in game. And I was totally wrong about too many huds. You can turn it off in Settings-Gameplay-Hud. Make sure to turn off Run Marker too which I didn't. I'll update more stuff once I get into them.

It's by far the most realistic snowboarding game I've played, and the depth of the controls allows you to have so much control over how you ride. The best pros in real life have their own distinctive style, and this game actually has such nuanced controls that you can have your own style in the game. Try doing that in something like SSX. Yes, the controls have quite a steep learning curve, but once you learn them, the game opens up so much. But you have to commit to learning them to enjoy the game. This isn't the kind of game where you rush through the "story" (hint, there isn't one) just to get to the "end game content" (hint, there isn't any). It's the kind of game where you play it for the mechanics. I think that's why you see a divide in how the users review the game compared to how critics review the game (here and elsewhere). If you're a professional critic, you've got to rush through a game, perhaps a game where you're not even that interested in the content. This is the worst game to play in that setting, so it's not surprising they bashed it. In fact, the biggest complaints are with the control scheme, which is one of my biggest praises.

I'm giving the game an 8 because I'm not fooling myself into thinking it's a perfect game; it isn't. So here are some of the cons: Some of the animations are a little bit rough. The soundtrack is lacking (but easy enough to just mute it and put your own tunes on). The world editor is very robust and allows you to do a lot (this is a good thing), but it can be very finicky to have precise and accurate placement. Finally, the replay editor is certainly sufficient, but lacking some features that could make it incredible; limited camera angles, no slowmo, no keyframes, etc.

All in all, this game is a no brainer if you're into snowboarding or want a more simulator-esque experience. If you like the EA Skate games, you'll probably like this game. If the idea of finding an awesome rail, and putting a session marker above it and riding the same rail for 15 minutes straight sounds fun to you, this game is absolutely for you.

Unpolished promise. The idea of a whole game centered around casual riding is pretty brilliant, the presence of a decent amount of user content this early, and a robust means of generating the content equates to a game that can seem infinitely replayable. Having said that, the learning curve for the controls can be too high for some, while others will not be happy about the little quirks that can quickly become big annoyances.
