    This is the definitive version to pick up. If you're playing this on the PS3 or 360, you're screwed. Mafia is all started on the PC before the consoles ever come out. Well, I am disappointed with the console versions. Slow loading times and not as great as on the PC. Yeah, I know it's short, but at least you'll get some chances on Joe's Adventures. It's that one DLC missing, but that'sThis is the definitive version to pick up. If you're playing this on the PS3 or 360, you're screwed.     Nice plot and really good characters!
    The setting is simply wonderfull.
    But there are some problems: 1) pretty high hardware requirement 2)there' aren't secondary missions 3)the open word isn't exploit at all (there isn't a lot to do) 4) the plot is short (14-15hours of gaming) 5)the behavior of pedestrians But fortunately gameplay, setting and characters are so good that i loved    Nice plot and really good characters!

    great game, with great expansion into the way Nvidia physX works. of course, you need a nvidia card to get most out of it. story is pretty solid, but overall not many memorable moments i can think of. controls are solid, but i wish it has some QTE in there. imagine, if they make this like 'Yakuza the game' or shenmue...

    Muy buen Juego!! Si te gustan los juegos tipo sandbox, de disparar y demás te gustará MAFIA II.
    Los gráficos, para ser de hace unos años, son bastante buenos, además de que puedes usar SweetFX para mejorarlos.

    Its simply awesome game but little short without DLC. But if u have all dlc u can play much longer and have more funny. Reccomend game all mafia fans

Each of the fifteen chapters in this game , while not excellently paced, provide some of the most vicious and sharp writing in a game, much of it inspired by the Goodfellas and the two Godfather films. Each of the fifteen chapters in this game , while not excellently paced, provide some of the most vicious and sharp writing in a game, much of it inspired by the Goodfellas and the two Godfather films. Each character has depth to them, and the rather brutal and downright melancholic nature of the story and the twists it takes is so meaty and gripping that it becomes impossible to touch the game again, for fear of ruining the good memories I had with the game. Also the lack of touching the game came as a result of there being no incentive to return the game because of the emptiness of its world. Barring the name of an open world game is kind of a shame since the city of Empire Bay is so beautifully crafted that it becomes frustrating that there is nothing other to do than rob stores and collect posters and playboy magazines. Other than that, Mafia 2 respects the time period for which it is set in, and the shooting, driving, and stealth mechanics work well enough in conjunction with the story elements. Calling it a GTA clone would be misleading, but there is no denying that the cruel life of Vito Scaletta is one for the books.… Expand

    This game tells you an amazing story while it gives you the ability to play open world. Doing weird stuff while doing your missions. i have been roaming the city after i ended the game just to upgrade cars and look at the beautiful cities. while this game might not be for everyone. i would recommend it to everyone whom wants to play a good mafia like game.     +Graphics: for me an unimportant choice, but of course still a plus. Very nice +overall feel: the music, the cars, the people etc... Very nice 40's/50's feeling. +Characters: Also a great plus. For the short story very deep characters.    Positives:

    One of my favorite games ever!
    This setting is really amazing and original. The storyline is great and feels really life-like.
    The characters could have been from some real story, and the level of depth in the environment is very nice.

    One of my all-time favourite games. Great story and immersion, love the setting. Graphics are four years old now, but still look great (except from some facial animations, maybe). Game-play is very good, although i would like to blind-fire and move from cover to cover. All in all, a great action game and a wonderful gangster drama.

    This is not really an open world game but it's a great game in terms of story-driven FPS action adventure, the plot and characters are fascinating (tho I like the first game more) and the graphic is nice enough even in 2014, there's even a mission near the end that takes you way back into the first game's story which is a real surprise to me, well done 2K games.

    I like the driving very much for the clumsy acceleration and bumpy suspension, you even get scores for drifting or sliding in the air, the combat is straight FPS with a some melee and stealth, it's not difficult yet not repetitive, all in all a well-balanced adventure that sucks you into a gangster's life.
    (I finish this game in a weekend...can't get myself out of this game XD)    … Expand

    This is a really good game, I play it all the time. It has amazing graphics, wonderful story line which makes you really attached to the characters! You can really feel like your Vito in the game.     Other than driving (between missions or chases) there is also shooting, fighting and stealth.

    Shooting is coverbased, a bit simplified like a shooting gallery. It does resemble a gangster shoot out, but it's not too fun or challenging.

    Stealth is not really free roam. There are just some segments with easy obvious implied stealth, so it doesn't feel to rewarding but it get's the job done. Most of the time you can't stealth, you just kill huge numbers of minion mobsters.

    Fighting is minimalistic with few mouse clicks, and also passable.

    Story has the usual mafia cliches. It may work if you haven't watched many such films, but I have so it's nothing special.

    All in all it's a pretty, detailed and atmospheric game even in 2015, but the gameplay and story aren't too exciting for me. Worth a run, mostly for the virtual world built.    … Expand

    After the disappointment that was Mafia III I decided to replay Mafia II 6 years on from the first time I played it and I had forgotten just how polished it was for the time, and even now it holds up incredibly well.

    The story is great and is pushed along nicely by some incredible voice work and a very capable script.     The story is great and is pushed along nicely by some incredible voice work and a very capable script. You become attached to the characters on screen and the main cast all have their own personalities and quirks which helps make them feel more real.

    Gameplay wise it's solid but simple, there's a basic cover system and a fighting mechanic which lets you punch the *bleep* out of your foes, sadly there are no melee weapons though which would have been great. The enemy AI for the most part are very smart and will often cover each other and try to flank you, sometimes they're even a little too quick off the draw as they come flying around a corner and instantly blow your head clean off, this is an area where Mafia II greatly surpasses the much newer Mafia III where enemies seem more than happy to stand around while you butcher their friends. You'll spend a lot of time driving your car and you have the option to play with simulation or arcade controls, personally I preferred arcade. Regardless as to which you pick cars handle well and the driving portion of the game feels more than fine.

    Another huge plus is the audio which is just fantastic, I've already commented on the voice work which is superb but the game also has a massive library of music from the era which really makes long car rides more enjoyable as you tap your foot along to the tunes.

    Visually it's still very nice 6 years later, it completely holds up and honestly looks better than some games that released much later, and you'll have no trouble hitting a solid 60fps on modern hardware as well so gameplay feels smooth and responsive at all times.

    There are a couple of niggles though, one being the lack of unique character models for lesser characters, when you get to a certain part of the game this becomes highly noticeable when everyone of the same race has the exact same model, it's very jarring, I wonder how long it would have taken to add some beards or something just to make them a little different. Another, more annoying issue is the extremely harsh checkpoint system, dying for any reason can mean some lengthy backtracking and it really did frustrate me at times, you can't manually save so you're at the mercy of the game and you're going to die even on medium difficulty so I'm sure most people will experience some frustrating due to this during their first playthrough.

    Overall I highly enjoyed Mafia II (again) and I recommend it to anyone, especially when it's on sale which it regularly is for £4.99. The DLC is not worth it, though.    … Expand

    A fantastic sequel to a fantastic franchise, Mafia II actually makes you feel like your in the days of when the Mafia were in the US of A, Mafia II is truly a fantastic open world game

    Mafia 2 : Hum.. comment dire ... L'un des meilleurs jeu de mafia ! L'ambiance new-yorkaise des années 40 50 est juste magique , jeu vraiment beau et l'histoire est vraiment super . Manque un mode multijoueur mais bon il est possible de jouer en multi avec des mods :)

    As the game goes on the story gets so much better. So do the shootouts. Play on pc so you can edit the three radio stations with your own music and customize your experience. It was nice adding music from Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas.

    Only downfall with this game there is no side missions at all, just campaign. Story and gameplay are awesome definately check this out.

    Driving mechanics feel detailed and realistic and the gun-play with cover to cover combat feels solid. Unfortunately the only main attraction is the immersing story leaving the ability to free roam or perform side missions out of the equation.

    None the less the game doesn't set out to copy GTA or Saints Row's sprawling open worlds and instead feels more focused on it's recreation of gangster fiction with an intimate narrative with it's characters, although if this is all you are looking for - you will be disappointed.    … Expand

Mafia 2, like its predecessor is a story centered game, the developers deliberately excluded any side activity in order to keep the player focused on the story line. It isn't as action packed as GTA, but it has that great feel of 40's - the radio stations, Empire Bay, the characters and mafia. The story is very well written and although the game is quite short, I still enjoyed it very much.     I can rarely find a game with such a great story, gameplay, skvělímy quotes and sophisticated characters and even more to do with dubbing in my native language (Czech). Definitely my favorite game

While the game is noticeably short and linear, the story and gameplay mechanics are engaging and climactic. Characters are well written and memorable. The soundtrack is absolutely magnificent - pure essence of early 50s.

    Great game, i started playing it without knowing what i was going to expect and the story, the characters, the setting was very well made. It hooked me in right at the first scene. If you like gangsters movies, GTA and shooters, you'll definitely like it.

    The story is great. A very Godfather story of mafia - power struggles, assassinations and betrayal. There are no side quests and I would actual consider this a good thing. This way the story is more focused and does not loose your interest in it. The Empire Bay which looks like New York set in the 1940-50s looks amazing and has great feel to it. The soundtrack additionally sets the mood as well.

    The game mechanics are on point. The driving feels good, shooting and action is both responsive and enjoyable. The array of weapons is good enough to enjoy. And there's nothing better than picking up tommy gun and shooting other mobsters.

    Overall really good experience, wonderful story - really worth picking up.    … Expand

In fact everything in the game shows the gamer how is it to be in the mafia world. Sometimes it requires to drive a car and sell some illegal goods, at other times it requires you to just patiently be a taxi driver for yourWith the nicely designed cars, great music, movie-like story scenes, excellent interiors and environments with so much details makes in Mafia 2 a very believable world. In fact everything in the game shows the gamer how is it to be in the mafia world. Sometimes it requires to drive a car and sell some illegal goods, at other times it requires you to just patiently be a taxi driver for your boss and later on get bigger piece of the cake. And sometimes it requires to risk your life in order to survive.
    It's very good that some quests in the game can be played differently and some dialogі can change accordingly. Our character develops along with the story.
    The game has it's downsides and some of them can irritate gamers. For example Mafia 2 is technically an open-world game where you can go almost anywhere. But it do not push you to do anything outside of taking quests of the main story and just ride the city all around. What negative to mention is some really boring quests and missions. Money in the game is not much of use.
    But what disturbed me the most is probably a very bad checkpoint system. If I died I had to replay the whole section right from the beginning. In addition there is some random damage generation, so sometimes I could be fine after being shot multiple times, but sometimes instantly killed from the first shot.     Amazing game. The Story is a masterpiece packing great characters and antagonists. The city of Empire Bay is extremely detailed and is really fun to explore. The Soundtrack is outstanding has some really good songs from the 40s and 50s. Driving around Empire Bay listening to great music in snowy winter is quite fun.

Es uno de los juegos con mejores físicas y detalles que he jugado hasta el día de hoy, detalles como que te llamen la atención por pasarte un semáforo en rojo, ver un matrimonio discutiendo por la calle totalmente a lo RANDOM XD o que te multen por ir deprisa son cosas que no se te van a olvidar en la vida. Y esto sólo son ejemplos :D Eso a la hora de vagar por la ciudad, luego están las misiones principales: tiroteos DE VERDAD, con buen sonido, con buen motor de destrucción y haciendo buen uso de las coberturas; sigilo; camuflajes; seguimiento en coche y persecuciones (por cierto, el sistema de conducción muy realista); salir por patas de una emboscada; peleas de puños con finishers e interacciones con el entorno BRUTALES...jugablemente tiene de sobra para que el juego se nos haga lo suficientemente divertido para poder avanzar en su interesantísima historia. Todavía no he cogido los coleccionables porque no le puse el suficiente interés, pero posiblemente lo vuelva a jugar en algún futuro en difícil y así aprovecharé para recoger más revistas Playboy… Expand

    Its a Crime that this piece of art has a 77 Rating, I Never Played a better Story in my whole life. Vitos Life is perfect for this game and there are so many different and extremely interesting parts of the story. This Game is WAY better then GTA 5 when you look at the story. I want to hit the dude who gave it a 70 Rating and plays Destiny or some other complete crapgames.

    Shortness of game is not a big deal if it keeps you interested after playing for several times. It never gets boring.

The game was released somewhat hastily, with quite a lot of secondary content being cut. What remained is still very good, mind you. The story is interesting, the graphics is very nice for 2010 and it has aged well. Gameplay is very linear similar to the original Mafia. The story is set in a 1940s/50s West Coast city Empire Bay. Mafia II features about 30 well made historically accurate cars (with changed names) and about a hundred or so of songs, that will really take you back in time. That thick atmosphere, that is what Mafia games always excel at. The game also allows you to collect vintage Playboy magazines centerfolds (though mostly from 1960s), which will show you how beautiful and natural women used to be. My main problem with this game is its length, the game really skips from mission to mission without really giving you any excuse to go explore the city. This game was released pretty polished without major bugs, which cannot be said about its definite edition, but that does not belong here. There are some minor microtransactions present in the form of "cosmetic DLCs". No SJW in Mafia II.

    This game is very good, great in fact, but somehow I cannot get rid of the idea that it could have been even better if the studio was not sold to the highest bidder. Final Verdict: 92 %    … Expand

Но зима заканчивается, рождественская сказка уходит и ты понимаешь что мир хоть и открытый, но абсолютно голый. Все что тебе остается это течь по сюжету. Сейчас тоИгра вызывает противоричивые эмоции. Первая половина игры просто волшебна, зимний Эмпаэр Бэй восхитителен, музыкальное сопровождение на высоте, физика машин отличная, да и стрелять довольно приятно. Кажется что игра будет 10/10. Сейчас то мы уже знаем что было вырезано много контента, и дополнения про джо и джимми, вероятно должны были быть в оригинале.
    Сюжет довольно интересный, хотя соглашусь что без главного твиста в конце он вероятно смотрелся бы сильно хуже.

    The second mafia is not one of many games that I would go through again, and maybe several times over again. This is such a detailed, interesting, exciting, tragic story about friendship, betrayal over the course of 10 years. Everything is perfect here: characters, city, weapons, cars, shooting, physics. In this game, I was hooked most of all because it was the city of Empire Bay in the early 1950s ... The atmosphere of rock and roll, roaring cars and the post-war period. While driving or walking around the city, you can meet various situations: as one random NPC sells hot dogs, and the second asks you to clean your shoes. In the first and second chapters, you can even talk and interact with various pedestrians on the streets. Many people complain about the open ending. Like - "What happened to Joe?" For this, the developers made it so that the players build their theories about this. For some reason I liked Mafia 2 more than Mafia 1. Yes, in the first mafia the plot is stronger, but here all the same, the atmosphere wins in my opinion. In technical terms, everything is clear here anyway, these games cannot be compared since they were released at different times.

    The only thing I didn't like and spoiled the aftertaste of the game a little was the DLC. Namely Joe`s Adventures. I decided to go through it in order to find out what Joe was doing all this time while Vito was behind bars. Yes, the first mission is exciting, there is both stealth and chases on ice, but then it just starts with water ... Endless tasks without cut-scenes, so also for a while. Hijack it, kill them, take that one and take it there and everything like that. Only missions with a super-market, a train with weapons and an end mission at a construction site dilute this water a little... I think it would be better to make a couple of chapters for Joe at least with some kind of plot, and not arcade missions for a while. DLC about Jimmy, I did not go through because I realized that the same thing awaited me. In general, I advise DLC only to those who simply have not played enough of the game for all the chapters and want to "continue", but for those who need more time, I advise you to go side by side.

От начала и до самых титров ты вживаешься в шкуру итальянского мафиози, полностью отождествляя себя с ним, а не«Мафия» - это нереально стильный, потрясающе атмосферный, аномально затягивающий и фантастически проработанный гангстерский боевик. Играя в нее, ты не проходишь игру - ты идешь по сюжету, тебе показывают интересный и довольно долгий фильм, в котором ты сам принимаешь участие. От начала и до самых титров ты вживаешься в шкуру итальянского мафиози, полностью отождествляя себя с ним, а не руля электронным болванчиком. И это приготовлено, сварено и подано реально круто, красиво и стильно.

    Плюсы:
    - режиссура диалогов и шуток. Юмор в игре, как правило, не пошлый, он... жизненный. Собственно, нечасто в играх и фильмах юмор способен существовать без шуток, самостоятельно, просто как часть общего уклада бытия. В «Мафии» это есть, и этим она покоряет.
    - список доступного оружия. Помимо ожидаемых «магнумов» и 1911 «кольтов» на пару с «томпсонами» добавилась еще и армейская экзотика, причем как союзническая, так и немецкая.
    - во второй части игры появился простенький, но приятный внешний и внутренний тюнинг. При взломе замков сия операция проходит уже не автоматически, а с подбором и расшатыванием пинов, такой себе «Сплинтер Селл» в миниатюре. Впрочем, ничто не мешает просто выбить стекло и угнать машину быстрее.
    - атмосфера. Здесь в действие включается абсолютно всё - кирпичные здания сороковых-пятидесятых годов, машины тех времен, джаз, степ и фокстрот на местных радиостанциях, люди... Графика в игре простовата, но при этом возникает интересный парадокс: она впечатляет. Много сильнее, чем буйство полигонов, блуров и прочего бампмаппинга во всяких там «Кризисах» и прочих «Фар Краях». Свет фар в тумане, размытая вечерней дымкой линия горизонта, припорошенный снегом тротуар и стоящие у дороги машины - всё это вписывается в атмосферу игры гораздо удачнее, чем все те навороты, на которые молятся создатели видеокарт.

    Минусы:
    - подавляющее большинство барышень похожи друг на друга, как патроны в магазине, да и всякие второстепенные мордовороты тоже не блещут разнообразием. Более того, одни лица очень хорошо проработаны - текстуры на уровне, полигонов много, детализация хорошая; а вот другие - просто пасынки природы - пластмассовые, угловатые и вообще похожие на опереточных кукол.
    - дальность прорисовки объектов. У этого замечательного и важного параметра здесь два недостатка - он по умолчанию очень мал (люди, машины, деревья появляются в полутораста метрах от игрока), и его нельзя менять.
    - спорно обстоит дело с оптимизацией. Игра классно оптимизирована... Ровно до 1951 года. Стоит нам дожить до второй половины XX века, как во время езды по улицам игра начинает с завидной периодичностью весьма конкретно подтормаживать.
    В общем, вторая часть хитовейшей игры прошлых лет однозначно удалась.    … Expand

    Oyun mafya dramını oldukça güzel işliyor. Yani hikaye güzel. Oynanış yönünde çok fazla alternatif yok.
    Aslında 50'lerde geçen bir oyun için oldukça güzel. 2011'in oyunu olmasına rağmen grafikleri hala sırıtmıyor ve orta seviye bir sistemde rahatlıkla oynanabiliyor. Hakkının yendiği bir oyun bence.

    Минусы конечно тоже есть. Очень расстроил тот факт, что из игры очень много чего вырезали, возможно из за недостатка бюджета и времени, это было очевидно даже до просмотра роликов про это, к примеру вырезали доп. задания у Майка Бруски или у Дерека, еще во время первого прохождения году в 2011 я заметил что изначально игра предполагала существование этих доп заданий но в итоге ничего не было, обидно. В принципе из за этого вырезанного контента игра слаба в песочницу, делать в этом мире ккроме как проходить сюжет практически нечего, а сюдя по скрытым файлам и комментариям разработчиков изучения и нахождение в этом городе могло быть намного интереснее. В принципе для меня это главный минус, поэтому 8 а не 10.
    О да, еще немного про музыкальное сопровождение. КАКОЕ ЖЕ ОНО АХУЕННОЕ. Боже я просто плачу когда слышу эти саундтреки их кат сцен или в меню игры. Для меня единственным соперником в борьбе саундтреков может выступать World of tanks, там тоже такие мелодии что мурашки по коже бегут.
    Подъитожу. Мафия 2, ты останешься в моем сердце навсегда и буду помнить о тебе всю свою жизнь, в какие бы игры я не играл. очень рад что таких как я не мало, судя по оценке, удивляюсь словам в каком нибудь видосе про хейт в ее сторону, где он? Оценка 8.1, какой хейт? Остается только надеяться что четвертая часть сможет хотя бы на километр подобраться к уровни этой игры, хочется верить что провал мафии 3 пойдет студии на заметку и больше они такого поноса не создадут.    … Expand

    Pretty good game but it's kinda short, when you compere it to original game from 2002. There is now a defenitive edition, but if you played this game before I don't recomend buying it again to get some minor dlc that came with Mafia Definitive Trilogy.

The lack of free roam is an issue at the forefront, but with a story as well thought out and executed as this, it’s forgivable. Lesser games without an enchanting story would have been hurt far more than Mafia IIOne of the only games I’ve ever REplayed more than once. This game is dressed with an inexplicable charm only achieved by a studio with all teams working towards the same goal. The lack of free roam is an issue at the forefront, but with a story as well thought out and executed as this, it’s forgivable. Lesser games without an enchanting story would have been hurt far more than Mafia II (-1). There’s some minor bugs - none of them crippling. They hinder the experience more so than the gameplay (-1).     The game's plot like is basically a mixture of the Godfather, and Goodfellas, you're a war hero, come back from the war and fall into a life of crime with your friend. The open world nature of this game is not the same as GTA, which to me is a good thing, there aren't a million half-assed mini-games to play.

После прохождения игры она оставляет много эмоций, её хочется перепроходить и вспоминать, можно сказать что проект мафия стал почитаемым и общепризнанным достоянием игровой индустрии, её цитируют и любят не только фанаты, но и обычные обыватели.… Expand

    Для игры 2010 года, это безумие, сюжет очень кайфовый, хоть и концовка спорная, но мне все понравилось, даже не знаю зачем обновлённая версия для этой игры, графон там на уровне и так

    What really great from this game is the story, you follow Vito, a war veteran, who wants to be part of mafia himself, the game had good character development and if you like mafia series, you probaly like the stories. However, the story is somewhat short.
    The game is set in empire bay, but not a true open world because the game follows a linear path and if you want to explore the city, you gonna have to use the "free roam" mode, but the game doesn't really use the world full potential as all you do in free roam just finding some playboy magazines so the game had almost no replay value.
    But if you really like mafia story, this game is this give a really good story.    … Expand

    The combination of the ancient control mechanics, odd pacing and lack of real world entertainment drag the game down and seriously decreased my enjoyment of Mafia II. Still, it's worth a playthrough if you just adore mafia games and have a solid PC build to take it on.
