I bought Mad Max and MGS V and I played Mad Max 25 hours and MGS V 2 hours. Mad Max is one of the best games I've ever played. And finally I only stopped playing Mad Max because the game ended to quickly. If you don't own Mad Max, then buy it now! And MGS V is Ok.

very nice game, good looking open world, with a lot of people in it, without being surpopulated, that's what i'd call a well-done open world (sounded better in my head)
the character moves smoothly, pretty god realization, good optimization.
same world system than a farcry, even if i would have wished more weapons ...

Just finished the game. What an experience. Gotta say it's the best optimized game on PC running it 30FPS maxed out with a Q6600 and a GTX 750, mindblow. Also the game itself it's fabulous. I recommend this to everyone, you won't stop want from playing it !

The fighting is fun and satisfying, and challenging enough to keep you on your toes. And the driving is epic. The underground stuff, in the dark, with only your car's headlights or a torch to see by, is outstanding. Truly a beautifully created and visually stunning world, a hugely entertaining game, and the overall story of mad max, wandering the wasteland, surviving to fight another day, seemed true to the feel of the original movies to me.
Sounds like it's not everyones cup of tea, but I for one, love this game.

The characters are pretty funny, i think they did a decent job on taking the feel of the movie and putting it in the game. Some of the upgrading is a bit grindy, but that doesn't bother me. The fighting is alot like batmans (which when came out everyone was like omg this combat so fun) but some people dont like it too much. I wish there were some more different animations in the ground fighting but either way its still spam left click and right click. The car combat is where things are the most fun for me. Overall the game wasnt too hard, but it wasnt too easy. They did well by not letting you run around like you had adamantium bones and driving a tank. The different zones were a nice change. I dont necessarily like how the whole zone looked so similar, but it was a good job on giving each zone a new look and still fitting within the wasteland feel. Expand

This is a game which does an excellent job in creating a Mad Max world.

The characters are as perfectly selfish, twisted, and damaged as they were in Fury Road. I love that your main companion, Chumbucket, is not normal. He is a deformed maniacal religious zealot, and his only allegiance to you is your car. If he was someone just as sane as Max is (if you'd call him that), it'd feel out

Max's main goal is entirely selfish and your objectives are exactly what one would do in a post-apocalyptic world: scratching ones back as they scratch yours.

Car combat is as excellent and enjoyable as one would think car combat should be. I wouldn't be surprised if Warner Bros. Interactive made a Twisted Metal variant using this same engine.

Overall gameplay is enjoyable, but gets a bit tiring after a couple hours. This may sound like a complaint, but it's actually not a bad thing. It makes it so you don't binge and play for eight hours straight.

So in short, this is a very good game, even at $60.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I really enjoyed playing this game. The world is huge, the references to the movie series are great, the ambiance is fantastic (you actually feel like in a apocalyptic environment), car combat is awesome, fighting combat is good, most of the main and side missions are fun, the story is ok.
But if you try to complete your stats the game becomes boring and repetitive.
The story starts great but it get´s lost for most of the game, there isn´t a clear goal on most of the missions besides gaining new stats or equipment improvement.

Max has lost his signature V8 Pursuit Special to thieving Warboys led by the unfortunately named Scabrous Scrotus, and teams up with a crippled but gifted mechanic named Chumbucket, who has a vision from on high to create the perfect car: the Magnum Opus. Journey with the pair across the dried shores of a forgotten land, doing a handful of story missions and a whole heaping load of optional content. The driving physics are excellent. Those complaining about stubborn handling don't realize that the cars in Mad Max handle like actual cars- they have weight, friction, impact. You can customize the Magnum Opus to your liking, unlocking new internals and offensive attachments as you gather scrap, the game's currency, and reduce the threat level of the Warboys in each of the four major regions by destroying convoys, scarecrow markers, sniper nests and war camps. Where the Opus doesn't fit, Max can lay into his enemies with brutal hand-to-hand maneuvers, in a system not unlike the Batman: Arkham games but far less in-depth. While simply mashing attack will get you through the early fights, good use of blocks, counters and dodges will be needed later. I found the game oddly similar to Star Trek Online in this regard: while you spend much more time driving, the on foot segments will quickly make you wish you were back in the Opus. On the road, your combat options are far more powerful, and diverse: in addition to ramming enemies, with the option of using boost to enhance damage, you have a side-slam move identical to that seen in Sleeping Dogs, though it is far less effective here when compared to your other options: side flamethrowers, a harpoon that can rip wheels off cars or drivers out of the cars completely, explosive-tipped harpoons that annihilate cars outright, and of course, Max's trusty shotgun- capable of blowing a wheel off a car just as easily as it will one-shot any normal enemy while on foot. The sound quality is incredible. The shotgun makes just about the loudest bang I've ever heard in a game and when you FINALLY get your hands on the coveted "Big Chief" V8 engine near the endgame, you will hear its sublime roar and feel blessed. Dotted throughout the game are callbacks to the films, including the much-beloved Thunderdome. I cruised around the wastes for hours, only wishing the game had some better music. Mad Max succeeds where it needed to the most: Putting you in the driver's seat of the most deadly, awe-inspiring metal machine left on earth. Where it falls short is in a similar area to other "open-world" games- It is, in fact, TOO big a game. I clocked in over 60 hours and, if i were to be generous, perhaps 5 hours of that are actual story missions. Most of the game, as with Avalanche's flagship series Just Cause, is made up of optional content and there are only so many types of these activities, though the Death Run race events stand out. I found myself tuning out during long stretches of collectible farming, eventually resorting to binge-watching tv shows on netflix with the game volume turned down while I knocked activity icons off my map one by one. However, whenever I got back in the Opus, heard that engine, hit the boost, watched that blinding blue flame issue from my chrome pipes and slammed right into some unsuspecting warboy's pathetic scrapheap of a car, I remembered what I was playing and why. Mad Max is not a boring game by any stretch of the imagination, but it's a loooong one, and it has some slow stretches. Regardless, I enjoyed the better part of it- and the better part of it made me feel like I was in a world gone Mad. Expand

Games based on movie franchises & also ones developed for as many platforms possible, are more often than not lackluster at most and as a sad fact are expected to be so. On the positive they initially remain free from the pestilent hype, which in this pre apocalyptic era serves us a platter of maggots promised as gourmet a-la-king.This is one of the few games which not only controls
well but performs flawlessly, with almost non existant loading screens on all platforms and most of
all is a whole grease ball full of open-world carnage.

You start out as Max, and he is kind of Mad after losing everything recently including his iconic gas guzzler the black on black as well! The characters he initially meets shares a common familiarity with the protagonist and that's one of being forsaken and scrounging around in the dunes creating their
own reasons to make life worth clinging on to.Like a dog who is left astray named after a can of dog food
named Dink-Di, witch sole purpose is sniffing out landmines after being left crippled. The characters all
seem to fit and are initially well developed considering the theme. If you are playing the game expecting a blockbuster story you would be sorely missing the point, watch the first Mad Max & Mad Max : Fury Road movies for that. The main quests wont leave you laboring for weeks, yet there is so much more
to do in this game if you choose to do so and you are well rewarded for it. Npc interactions are few yet
alleviated by your mechanic companion which is one of the most interestingly developed and easily
creeps into ones heart with his black fingers.

You start out with a rusty frame with some wheels and an engine, from their on out its up to you how
you want to create your new ride.Everything from choosing the chassis to the particular specs are left
up to the player. Would you like to soar over the dunes in a lightweight speed demon or command a
heavily armored bulldozer leaving burning wrecks of metal & fuel in its wake? The deep & meaningful customization is a very nice touch and to me is where the game design excels.Survival elements also
play a part via the scarcity of health & ammo yet it's so rewarding to not die when one survives a seemingly hopeless encounter with pure skill and a tad of luck. Preparations is key but no matter of preparation can save you from a sandstorm in the middle of infiltrating an enemy encampment and one
is often forced to think on your feet. Enemy types does seem a bit lacking but I cant say that about the vehicles I encountered which is varied. Some innovative mechanics such as enemy vehicles that can be and can be commandeered and then salvaged for a large scrap reward by shooting an harpoon into the driver and safely "extracting' him from his vehicle. The game is well optimized and has some of the best day/night cycles ive ever sawn. Not to mention the variations in terrain and added little details like fuel dripping burningly onto the ground from your exhaust, tracks & dust clouds left imprinted on the dunes, whirlwinds and sandstorms throwing a wrench into your plans when you least expect it.This game is full of such details & random little moments of great fun which acts as quicksand of immersion.

Some minor stomach aches may exist with the controls like press this button to climb & whatnot, yet its a minor setback for the control's being so well done for PC as well as Controllers. I'm also aware of
of some negativity surrounding the plethora of task's becoming repetitive yet the game never forces you to do so as its completely optional, but I understand the struggle a completionist would "enjoy' in this world as it quite large witch is a plus for me.

Pants of to Warner Brothers which created epic property's that so loved that it inspires developers creative wings to no end, as proven by releases such as the Batman Arkham series, Shadow of Mordor and now Mad max.

If you are the type of player that hammers through a game's storyline then there will be much that you will miss in this game. It will not be for everyone and the gameplay loop has a few issues in terms of pacing and repetitiveness but overall there is a lot of fun to be had. The main issue for me in terms of pacing was that I tend to play games like this a certain way...build up, build up, build up focusing on developing character skills and the means of developing a solid steady income. The problem (if it is one) is that in this game I was at maximum skill level and abilities before leaving the first part of the game. There were lots of vehicles and parts to still unlock but combat-wise, by ignoring the story and building up and completing tons and tons of side missions, salvage locations, encounters and liberating camps and territories, Max was as strong as he was going to get way before reaching the more challenging stuff in the second part.

The open world itself is often spectacular. The design of the camps and many, many of the scavenger locations dotted around the map are incredibly varied although the gameplay involved in taking them over or looting them is less so. This wouldn't be as much of an issue if the game were smaller in scale but there are so many of these locations that some will undoubtedly find them boring at some point.

Driving and car combat is decent. Melee combat can be perhaps slightly more nuanced than mashing counter and attack...although that will get you through the majority of encounters. Yet as Max gains skills and abilities there is a bit more to the combat and fights can result in some pretty satisfying beat downs. However, boss fights are pretty much all the same...get some distance, wait for boss to charge, dodge roll, attack, hit with whatever that boss is weak against, dodge...runaway again and repeat. Every boss can be beaten this way and the only variety later in the game is that some bosses call in a few handfuls of minions to try spice up proceedings a little.

People complain about the story, and I have to wonder if they have seen a Mad Max film because none of them are particularly noteworthy for their narrative. The game starts slow story wise, but by the end you get the Max you are expecting. Having said all that, I enjoyed it quite a bit and definitely got my money's worth out of it. If it had been slightly smaller in scope and slightly more varied and had one or two other minor niggles polished out I might have even gone a bit more than an 8...as it is it's pretty solid at what it does and worth a look if you pick it up on offer.

    - Excellent driving and the wide variety car pimping upgrades worthy of the post-apocalypse (though it borders the illogical; after all, you can't change the entire body of the car mid-battle), and sick as hell car designs for both Max's and the enemies' that will make Mel Gibson glee in joy
    - Avalanche's trademark heavenly fire and explosion effects from their Just Cause series, coupled with authentic sound effects, that will make surely arouse Michael Bay, which is easily the most amazing sight in the game, and thankfully something you'll see all the time
    - The oh so glorious car combat, especially the convoy take-down side activities, which brings in the rush and awesomeness of Fury Road right in your face
    - The sick and satisfying melee combat in the vein of the Arkham games coupled with a few awesome moves like that one where you pierce that poor war boy with a thunderstick and let him explode in a glorious splatter, or that finisher where Max does the Black Widow neck twist, though not as complex and requiring of much timing and precision or strategy even than
    - Excellent character design, voice work and animation, and the fact that Max has unique dialogue for certain locations, except for those pathetic characters you meet in wasteland encounters who mumble an entirely different language
    - The pretty varied design (and the surprising complexity for some) of the loot locations, camps and stronghold which makes scouring each one of them less of a total grind, some of the most complex and intriguing of which are found in the farthest corners of the map
    - The history relic collectibles, some of which bring a true sense of loss and realization on my part that we might just be the one picking those same pictures one day
    - The deadly, excellently made and scary as fudge sandstorms that's not quite chaotic as that from 'Fury Road' but still crazy as fudge, that can literally send Max and his weak cars spiralling out of control
    - Dinky-di's pretty silly ability to bark and scare the crap out of landmines, so much so that they emerge from their deep sandy enclosures for Max to diffuse them
    - The awesome lens flare and aberration effects
    - When you get it, that absolutely epic moment when a sandstorm roars over as you fight the living crap out of warboys flipping their butts as you destroy those transfer tanks for the tenth time

    CONS:
    - The pretty weak and uninteresting story of Max fighting hoards of post-apocalyptic crazies just to pimp the hell out of his ride and finding peace in a world where the last thing you'll find is the p-word, coupled with generally uninteresting side characters that's basically there to give you fetch quests (which, come to think of it, is basically better than 'Fury Road' which isn't even really focused on Max himself but on Furiosa escaping with The Wives on the War Rig - incidentally on the game itself - then coming back to the Citadel)
    - The general open-world grind of icon extermination and collectathon, and the pretty strong sense of repetitiveness (including combat), which can get really tiring after hours of play (though still gets me excited to get back to after some rest)
    - The less than responsive counter system as compared to that of the Arkham or Middle-earth's, making you most likely to fail in getting that sweet 30+ combo counter and annoy you to the end of the Universe
    - The incredibly annoying death runs, featuring the archangel collectible cars that handle like crap and easily get destroyed with the slightest touch of the other cars' bumpers
    - The generally mediocre and uninteresting main and side mission design, generally comprising of driving for minutes on end, blowing up enemy cars along the way, reaching the objective point, kicking the crap out of everybody, maybe finding all collectibles in the area, and repeat
    - Max's sheer inability to jump even waist-freaking-high obstacles like he's carrying 500 pounds of fat within him when he can easily reach a yellow bar, which is unbelievably annoying
    - The utter uselessness of archangel car varieties, when you could just spend all your time upgrading your main magnum opus to an all around monster
    - Few bug annoyances, including enemies suddenly disappearing out into thin air, game elements not appearing properly, and the (quite frequent) crashing

Mad Max has a good story but not the gameplay.

Like: - Graphics is really detailed. - Physics simulation is good. - Story is better than Mad Max (the movie). Dislike: - Combat system is poor. - The character's abilities are poor. He cannot even climb on a low stair which is just high as his stomach. - Less weapon to use. - Why do I have to meet a NPC to upgrade my Stats. And why

    - Car upgrading also bad as the Chars Stats Upgrading.
No reason for me to replay the game.

Here's how you enjoy the game.

Scrap collecting single handedly ruins the game because there is too many things to grind out, but guess what. You are on a PC! So go on google and search a mad max trainer, play the game with the unlimited scrap cheat. You still have to grind out other things which is OK. And only use the unlimited scrap cheat, if you use other cheats it'll ruin the fun

Try it and then review the game.

Game knows how to waste your time. At first I loved the game but slowly scrap looting, boss fights, slow upgrades made me sick, its all just frustrating. Rest of the game is repetitive, nothing interesting happens anymore.

I haven't played a game this good in a very long time. The landscapes are HUGE, the action is fantastic and the CARS are unbelievable, Can't remember the last time an RPG kept me playing for hours on end.

Is it a bad game? Absolutely not. On the contrary, Ubisoft's open-world template is perfect for churning out market-friendly games that tick all the boxes of "What People Want." Or, perhaps, "What You Want."...And honestly, Mad Max's formula is still to some extent "What I Want." Just not as much as a few years ago.

Mad Max is this year’s equivalent of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor – a really decent open world game that will not disappoint the fans of the franchise and will win over some undecided gamers, but will not be inducted into the industry’s hall of fame alongside Skyrim, GTA, Black Flag or The Witcher 3. Mad Max is a missed opportunity. The exceptional depiction of the Wasteland, the chaotic nature of the post-apocalyptic society, the excellent technical qualities and thrilling vehicle fights are held back by the mundane melee combat mechanics, the loose story, the repetitive nature of secondary objectives and the overall low-level challenge.
