Machiavillain comes with its challenges for the start and has a good learning curve to get through, but once you master all the management side of things and the HUD navigation you will see that Wild Factor have created a fully enjoyable experience with fantastic comedy and a great 90’s horror background. The building mechanics allow you to design anything really, only your imagination will hold you back. Visually the cartoon styling really compliments the game and will have you hooked for hours on end. Don’t expect to just pickup the game and be able to master it from the offset, however. Give yourself a good couple of hours and a few resets and you’ll be killing off victims by the truck load. Expand

you'll spend 50% of your time watching minions sleep and the other 50% seeing them get stuck and destroying walls so they can go free, if you think you can then build the walls, think again, they will get stuck yet again

A good quality management game in the vein of Rim World and other "colony management" games with its own unique take and flavor on the genre. The basic mechanics are well known, but the game has a really well done art and aesthetic that makes it stand out from other more simple management games.

A well-presented game, but exploring shows it's more dilapidated cabin than ominous mansion. [July 2018, p.65]

It’s a fun and zany game with a quirky art style (feels similar to Don’t Starve) but it can be cumbersome. Also, the randomization can hurt: I had to start several games over from minute 1 when there wasn’t enough free space to start building my haunted house. Also… the ability to have multiple stories would be nice. Haunted basements, anyone? Attics?

MachiaVillain is a smart management game which rests on a appealing idea: being a bad guy and killing people with style. Cartoonish but deep, the only big issue is its overloaded interface which can be misleading.
