    It's well polished and gorgeous to look at. There are some very fun moments, especially in solo dungeons. But the leveling and overall progression feels hollow and unrewarding. I never died once from level 1 to 30 ish and gear seems to be the exact same thing over and over with slightly increased stats.

    This game is just a P2W grind with almost no creativity, and full of censorship, despite they would sell with Female character, therefore lacking bikini/bikini armors. I cannot tolerate the goons who is shilling this trash to be equal with western games.

    Do the same thing every day, but only a certain number of times. A boring story, a boring world from the corridors, a combat system with special effects from which the eyes will flow out, control break the fingers or a gaming mouse, that's such a game.

    Combat animations and the basic fundamentals are good to great. The Issue is there's zero depth at all to the combat. Just don't get animation locked in the red indicators and that's it.

    In all seriousness this game art direction is so bad, it looks pretty but missing that substance.
    Characters are very disproportionate and animation looks like from 2000 era.
    Everything about the story and music is overhyped just because there are big monsters.

    Extremely streamlined/boring questing, it feels like FF14 or Black Desert. Combat is impressive at the beginning, but gets old and repetitive quickly. You only have a bunch of skills to use, which only a handful are fun to use, and it takes forever to unlock a new skills. In Path of Exile or Diablo 3 it is more fun to experiment with skills because there you have access to more skills inExtremely streamlined/boring questing, it feels like FF14 or Black Desert.     I will never play Amazon games again. Before this game was released, people said it would be the best mmorpg, but after playing it, it's just a P2W mobile game. Over-advertising using streamers has been effective since New World, but now I won't be fooled again.

    First off, the queues amount in the thousands of players - you could pretty reliably calculate one hour in the queue for every 3000 in front of you.     On day three, someone had the amazing idea to introduce some patching/downtime in the EU primetime from 2 PM to 6 PM, where the headstart ended.

    This in turn led to 8+ hours of additional downtime for every player, headstart or not.

    I should add that this game is not new - it is running successfully in other regions and have been doing so for years.

    Each server in the EU region is now so full that you sit in queues for 6+ hours just to get in - and even then, you risk getting kicked from the queues due to bugs and have to start over again.

    And don't get me started on the founder pack items or characters not being transferable to newer servers with less players to alleviate some of this.

    I would easily give the game a 7-8 score even with the limited amount of playtime and content I've experienced, but as it stands, it is (literally) unplayable.    … Expand

    I feel like this game was talked about as one of the best MMORPGs without having good fundamentals, the gameplay and graphics are good, but I've seen them before, the skills have very exaggerated cinematics, when in reality you do little damage and so you don't feel the skill progression. It has a very simple story

    Filled with outdated design, grindy quests, the same generic repeating mobs everywhere, and a poor party system. It'll have you thinking - Why don't we just play Destiny 2? That's free, fun, and it's in first person. Or why don't we play a new MMORPG that's actually innovated on the genre - like Zenith in VR.

    Amazon is really showing cluelessness and way too much caution. That they think they can just paint-by-numbers, repeat what everyone else is doing, and hope it does well.

    Combat is fun for first few hrs but quickly becomes boring as you use the same abilities throughout the game with next to no customization.
    Questing is garbage. As MC, you have to do everything ranging from cleaning the toilet to saving the entire country only to get information about Ark. Most of the skill points after lvl 50 is hidden behind collectibles which takes    Overhyped game.
    Combat is fun for first few hrs but quickly becomes boring as you use the same abilities throughout the game with next to no customization.
    Questing is garbage. As MC, you have to do everything ranging from cleaning the toilet to saving the entire country only to get information about Ark.
    Most of the skill points after lvl 50 is hidden behind collectibles which takes weeks, used to level up the abilities that you have used throughout the game.
    Guardian raids are a pain, all that effort for some daily miniscule loot.
    Towers are biggest pain, near impossible to clear even when overgeared. Seems like they threw every monster ability in single floor. Only reason to complete it is for skill points.
    Honing rates go down to less than 1% success rate, making you try to hit pity for guarranted success.
    Ability stone cutting is another RNG based system.
    Adventure island loots are also RNG based.
    Bots running around everywhere.
    Every little storage system requires crystals to unlock e.g resetting resistance points in skip skin, roster storage, card collection, etc.
    Absolutely unnecessary curreny called Pheons for Auction house which hampers gear trading.
    Due to all this RNG and low success rate you are stuck at particular ilvl threshold unable to progress, yet they are pushing content which 99.9% is not ready for with Argos update and Legion raids right around the corner.
    Support class are a pain to play as you will struggle to do single player content like Tower.
    Playing a ranged class has huge advantage over melee classes.
    Its essentially a P2W game.

    F2P
    Good cinematics
    Have lot of horizontals but quickly becomes boring

    - An utter lack of any attempt of regionalizing the game to a western audience. The systems in this game are "normal" for Korean MMOs, but most of these systems are considered abhorrent and terrible design in western markets. None of them was modified. The game does not respect your time. It's time gated like a mobile game (which the vast majority of people hate) with an incentive to swipe and swipe hard. This leads to an incredible demand for RMT for gold, which results in a huge amount of botting. AGS has done nothing about any of this. The game's fundamental design benefits RMTers so significantly that you're encouraged to do it, and this makes botting incredibly lucrative. Combine that with the fact that there's no cost for botters to make accounts and we now have a market that doesn't work and the only reasonable method of progress: spending enormous amounts of time doing virtually nothing or RMTing to instantly reach end-game.
    - Combat is clearly inspired by several games yet maintaining only the bad and zero of the good of those games. The isometric camera lock removes player control, the severe restriction on player mobility and poorly implemented netcode and indicators with bosses that simply spam their abilities with no real opportunity for players to do anything leads to a boring means of doing content: just outgear it. In MH you don't have an isometric lock and you have a lot more control. In DS you don't have an isometric lock and you have a lot more control. In Diablo you have an isometric lock, but bosses do not spam attacks and are much more interactive. The end result is that combat in this game feels like you're standing around doing nothing until you're "allowed" to attack. Systems like stagger and destruction are not well explained and in some cases aren't even visible to you. This is lightyears away from every western release in the past 20 years. It's stuck in the early 2000s and it screams in your face just how incompetent the designers are.

    The only good parts of this game are the horizontal progression systems. When you reach 50, you're thousands of hours from a playable state. You need gems, tripods, and engravings along with a lot of grindily obtained skill points for your build to feel reasonably playable. Therefore combat feels terrible for thousands of hours. If you watch KR videos of people near 1600 ilvl, know you will spend the better part of years playing this game to reach that point. Until then, this game will feel like playing WoW or FFXIV as a level 10 player. And every tier you completely delete 100% of your gear requiring you to completely grind or buy all of it again to rebuild.

    This game has a lot of potential, but it feels like it's been held back by the utter incompetence of both Smilegate and AGS. It could easily charge a monthly fee and find itself amongst WoW and FFXIV if any care at all was paid to it, but it's very apparent that the only thing that matters is whales.    … Expand

Do you have ANY interaction with that death? Nope - I mean, "who are you talking about? Someone died?". jesus Goddamn Christ.

    Sh*** is continuously thrown at you just to fill the HUGE VOID of LACK OF CONTENT - which is an absurd contradiction, because there is a LOT OF MECHANICS in Lost Ark, but, at the same time, it is so terribly written and shallow.

    I am pretty sure they got one of those "wheel of luck" filled with the names with a lot of games - Diablo, Path of Exile, Ragnarok, Starcraft etc etc etc - and, everytime they run out of ideas, they used the wheel to determine which game they were going to copy - which enemies, ambient, quests. And just glue it all together in the end! Just like a good old school job!

    This has to be THE April fool's joke. I don't care if the end game content is good, I don't care if there are some nice dungeons when you reach level 60. What I know is: THE JOURNEY IS INSUFFERABLE. Don't touch this crap.    … Expand

If carrying rocks 20 feet excites you then Lost Ark is right up your alley. Convoluted money system? CHECK! Missions between two NPCs 15 feet apart? CHECK! Waiting for a world boss to spawn and help to arrive....only toA lot of people are comparing this to Diablo. While certain things DO copy from Diablo....game play isn't one of them. Diablo is a constant dungeon crawler. Pure action. If carrying rocks 20 feet excites you then Lost Ark is right up your alley. Convoluted money system? CHECK! Missions between two NPCs 15 feet apart? CHECK! Waiting for a world boss to spawn and help to arrive....only to have a high level one shot it and cause you to wait another 30 minutes? CHECK!!! Bots swarming the chat and the environment? CHECK CHECK!! The dungeon gameplay CAN be fun...but its so few and far between. There are some truly amazing moments...but there is too much drudgery in between. Look, when the chat is filled with requests to come help break down "THE FENCE" and you get there and realize it is just a fence that has more hit points than world bosses, you get a clear picture of what this game is underneath. The fact that its this popular boggles my mind. It shows that people are DESPERATE for anything....even doing HOURS and HOURS of non-missions and very little combat. Its sad. Your main objectives in any given area are as follows: Go here. Talk. Move object. Emote to someone. Talk to someone again. Go to a previous area, run the entire length of the map to talk to someone for 2 seconds, teleport back to quest giver. BLAH!! One mission had me teleporting TWENTY times. I didn't see combat for a half hour.

It gets so bad that in certain quests you just have to stay 3 minutes in one place with nothing happening. Im not making this up. And all for what? Just so you can enjoy a bit of raiding.     Fun combat, pretty visuals, a bit too easy and the story is bland as hell. "End" game tries to confuse you with systems and then cut your wallet. Can't give it larger than a 3 due to that. Non cosmetic micro transactions in gaming need to die. Period. Don't waste your time playing this

    This game is unplayable on NA servers. There's over 10,000k queue on the weekends and you need to wait over an hour to even log in to play a game. They should be paying me money for wasting my time waiting in queues. Good luck trying to play at your convenience.

    If the first two of those four things in particular do not match up with you, or what you want from the games you play, it can impact your enjoyment so significantly, it would be best to not even bother downloading the game. Honestly, in many ways this kinda felt like an isometric version of Blade & Soul, as both are built around difficult mechanics heavy weekly group content, with dull daily grind content, and have a toxic elitist player base.

    In regards to number one, they have mechanics during fights where you stop fighting, to execute a mini-game, like a typing test, or leading a thing, to another thing, under certain conditions. These sort of "mechanics" mostly come up in the later weekly content, and to an increasing degree with each new piece of such content they add.

    Some added notes:
    A. The game could really use some form of solo training tool for its weekly raid/dungeon content, as it can do a poor job of relaying how you should handle mechanics. This is why there's so many detailed guides on how to do things, but really the game should be teaching people how to play, it's not the community's job to do that. This is also why you need a static group to do that content with, it just gets more demanding over time, complete with raid wipe mechanics if even one person made a mistake, so what should be a twenty minute piece of content, instead can take hours to complete with teams of random players.

    B. Because of how mechanics heavy things are, explaining things can take a lot of time, so people don't want to do that, and just expect others to know how to do everything. As a result, it's not long after new content is added before about all you see in the party finder is people looking to do fast runs with experienced players, or just selling the service of AFK carrying people through content, as many try doing that as their way of getting loot from them.

    C. If you think you can power up your character, then face roll everything, you're very wrong. There are plenty of mechanics that will kill you, and maybe even the whole raid if even one person screws up, no matter how geared people are.

    D. Most every active player at the time this was written has at least one character with a gear score of at least 1415. Due to this there's a fair amount of content below that which is basically dead now, particularly guardian raids, field/world bosses, chaos gates, and ghost ships. Except for guardian raids, they do not scale with the number of people there, so you just can't expect to do them solo, and can be wasting your time even trying. Some higher level people will do the lower weekly dungeons for a chance at card drops, which results in you just chasing them around as they insta kill everything, even bosses. Then a lot of the people queuing up for the sub 1415 guardian raids these days, honestly suck, and tend to be rather under geared. End result is your experience in multiplayer content below 1415 can be pretty poor, meaning you'll be playing mostly solo for a long time.

    E. The daily resource grind content, gets really boring/annoying, pretty quickly, and there's a fair number of things seemingly added solely to waste time.

    F. If you're more of a solo player, don't bother. While the daily grind content is a mostly solo experience, the weekly raid content can only be even attempted with a group. There is just no recurring solo content that will be able to keep your attention, or is worth working towards.

    G. The standard equipment upgrade system has a type of pity system, so if you fail enough times, it will just give you the upgrade. Basically if you stick with it, you can have your entire account stuffed full of characters with their equipment at a high, to max upgrade level.

    H. A good chunk of the player base is pretty toxic, and elitist, or just want to be carried through everything, and can't be bothered to look things up on their own before hand, as they expect people to explain mechanics to them, and so on.    … Expand

    7. BETA Player got 40.000 Crystalls. Amazing that normal players got nothing at all and Founders like Silver got around 1.000 only and you have to pay for a founders pack. Wow

    8. You can not teleport from island to island. You need to use the damn ship to get there and when you are there, you can use the teleporters. Who makes these dumb mechanics?

    9. You can not do dungeons like the chaos dungeon to farm gear when you did not finish some specific main quests. Thanks to my number 4 I am stuck and can not farm for stronger gear.

    10. 80% of items are not tradeable not even for your own other character. Don't know why there is an account storage to share items with your alts when most items can not be transfered.

    11. Work Energy is for whole server. So if you spend all work energy with your berserker and plan to continue to farm for wood etc. with your paladin then you just can't because there is an Pay2Win Mechanic that stops you from doing this because your berserker worked hard and is tired so that means, you other character are tired as well by looking at your berserker how he is working hard BUT ofcourse you can buy work energy potions with gold / crystalls / real money.

    12. This games name could also be Bots Ark because there are more people using bots in this game than actuall people. It's really annoying. These bots are spamming in chat and are trying to sell gold to some people and they are even whispering you and the big problem with this is, market inflation and that you can block only 100 people and these bots are spamming the chat non stop and there is no end with this.

    13. Character Slots are really a pain. This game has many classes and it will get even more BUT I have only 6 character slots available and they are full already and ofcourse to get more, just spend some real money. This game is even more Pay2Win than a mobile game since you can get really rich as more alt character you have on a server.

    14. Crazy and greedy prices for some items in shop. They are really put a bundle of skins that is even censored for around 40€. bunch of greedy b...

    15. Maintenance timing is the worst. These people can't do even that right. I am on EU server and the Maintenance starts mostly during daytime where everyone woke up and is back from work. Why these people can not do atleast 1 thing right and do the maintenances at nights.

    Game once you are in and there are no lags (between 2 AM and 10 AM) is really good, I would say maybe even 9/10.
    The problem is queue times in EU and end-game dungeons lagging for most of the day and half of the night that you can't even enjoy most of the end-game content. You either sit in queue for hours, you ATTEMPT to enter queue for hours or you sit for hours trying to enter dungeon.    Game once you are in and there are no lags (between 2 AM and 10 AM) is really good, I would say maybe even 9/10.
    The problem is queue times in EU and end-game dungeons lagging for most of the day and half of the night that you can't even enjoy most of the end-game content. You either sit in queue for hours, you ATTEMPT to enter queue for hours or you sit for hours trying to enter dungeon.
    I would thus rated this game overall 4/10, but since there are people rating it 10/10 even tho they mention queue issues I think it is unfair for average score if I would have given it the rating I think it deserves.
    Remember - queue issues and lags ARE part of the game and if they suck then you NEED to rate this game accordingly.    … Expand

    The environments look good and it can be fun to play with friends. That's about where my enjoyment of the game ends. Classes are restricted by gender currently. Every single female character is in stilettos with no way to change footwear. Ultra thin with large upper bodies. Zero variation. If you play a male class you get the amine beefcake body type or you get Dante from DMC.

    I found very few classes to have an actual flow to their gameplay. It was often a series of disjointed abilities that didn't compliment each other or simply served to fill time between cooldowns of abilities that actually mattered. Every class, of it's 8 abilities you get to test prior to making a decision, had 3-5 abilities that literally did the same thing with a slightly different flair. Berserker had 5 downward slash abilities: two typical slashes, one slow one, one short hop slash, and one slightly larger hop slash. None did anything different than each other, just an animation and some damage. Why did this need to be 5 different abilities? Why not one with upgrade variations that changed what it did or how it looked? I ended up with the demonblade rogue class for most of my playtime, which also had about 4 minor variations to "two slashes" with no additional effects. Upgrading skills also seems to come down to more damage, speed, or some resistance to crowd control while mid-animation.

    The story is terrible. Voice acting probably hurts it more than anything. After about 10 minutes I found myself already skipping every piece of dialogue or cutscene I could. Which, turns out, is not all of them. Lots can't be skipped, I guess they're "too important" to the story to skip.

    Overall game bad. Just play Diablo or Path of Exile.    … Expand

    But I really regret it today. The whole game is a p2w massacre and it manipluates people from the very beginning of the game that you don't have to pay for progression. People actually say that the game is p2p (pay to progression) but that's is just an excuse to hide the fact that the game is p2w.
    The best equipment in the game is not accessible for normal humans. Either you pay rediculous amounts of money or you will stuck at a low GS for ever. They made you think that you can have and do everything in the game for free but it's like in every f2p mobile game. You will hit a paywall that frustrates you and make you realise how unrealistic it is for you to be one of the top players.

    Do I need the GS really? Yes and no. The DPS scaling of higher GS is insanely high later on. There are plenty of statistic of korea that shows how p2w the game is.
    You can do the highest content in the game without spending money, yes. But i requires you to play the game for a very long time with alot of twinks and with very much time investment. This is not acceptable for casual players who enjoy the game but also want to enjoy everything of it. They have not a chance, only with money.

    I really wished that the western Version would have been more fair and equal to every player. We don't share the same mentality of status and money in the west like koreans do. Look what the most successfull mmorpgs are in the west. We don't like p2w games with scammy gambling upgrade mechanics, we want a consistent fair and equal progression.

    And I also want to mention that is game is everything but not a ARPG. The rewards you are getting from killing mobs is just not existing. We are able to kill thousand of mobs but the only way to obtain usefull loot from it is throuh the chaos dungeons. And you will ALWAY get the same **** over and over again just with different tier numbers. You don't even need to use your brain. This is the worst ARPG exerpience I ever had in my life. You surely to something wrong when killing monsters feels annoying and boring.

    And now a more personal thing. I really love housing, crafting and gathering in games. In FF14 I spent months in things like that. But why the hell is everything in Lost Ark time limited? Just let me do housing and crafting man. Ah well, yeah, I forgot the game is p2w, my bad. It's time limited so you cannot craft usefull battle items that are mandatory for raids for free when you invest time in the game.
    So even if you want to do the optional content in the game, you will realise pretty fast that i's not possible without waiting for week, months or even years for some stuff.

    the only pros I can give the game is the optic. It really has some very beautiful areas in the game.
    And some islands are pretty funny.
    The "hard" raids are okay. They are just not hard and the bosses have only 2 or max 3 mechanics you have to take care of. Pretty boring and easy.

Most of the quests are straight up unnecessary, with you having to talk to several people before you get to see some action. Exiting the game W0x3-SPCLFWN1N2NT" issue, if you get that, you can even forget to cue, you won't be playing today).

    The levelling is one of the most tedious **** ever. Uninteresting story with horrible quest pick up interface, rewards everywhere (mobile games do this), loads of UI menu's that have red dots all the time, mobile looking game crap, hardly see anyone for that MMO vibe, side quests worst ever, gender locked crap.
    But at least the combat is one saving grace.

    Interesting character classes, enticing atmosphere, visual attractiveness, satisfying combat – Lost Ark hit the mark on everything one expects from a good action RPG. I could feel my character’s power from the very first step in this interesting, varied world, and saw potential for one of the best Diablo’s cousins in years. It’s a pity that the MMO aspects of Lost Ark forced some compromises and simply get in the way of enjoying the satisfying Diablo-esque side.

    Lost Ark is literally great enough to re-ignite my passion for MMORPGs after 15 years. That’s not a joke, and it’s not something that I’m just saying for the sake of this review. Because of that, I don’t know that I should be reviewing this game so much as I should be thanking it. I’m incredibly happy to have finally found an MMO that I can look forward to playing every day, and, if you’re willing to take my word at all, I think you’ll find that you’ll end up the same way once you sit down with this game for yourself.
