This mountain biking game blends an idyllic nature aesthetic with tight arcade action to create a surprisingly thrilling adventure.

Freedom and exploration in a bike game? Wow. Lonely Mountains: Downhill is more than just a pretty game. It's an experience and it can be as relaxing or challenging as you want. We wish there would be a new saga here.

Lonely Mountains is far from lonely, it rekindles a feeling of childhood. Of meeting with friends and exploring the woods, daring each other to take jumps or freewheel through water. It’s a game about being alone, by being at one with nature and the bike beneath you.

Lonely Mountains: Downhill reminds me of many favorite games from my childhood. Not because it's a game with retro flair, but because it explains what was then due to the technical limits, a virtue - to pour with simple means and no frills a good idea in a fun gameplay.

Lonely Mountains: Downhill is easily the best mountain biking game available. True, there’s not a lot of competition, but even if there was it would be hard to top. The terrain is a blast to explore, each bike opens up a different style of play and the atmosphere is about as close to perfect as you could hope for. The progression system to unlock new bikes takes a bit too long, and sometimes the bike physics get a bit wonky, but it’s hard to let that get in the way when the next trail opens up or a new shortcut reveals a path that knocks several seconds off the clock. The wilderness of Lonely Mountains: Downhill seems initially empty because there are no other people to be found, but they’d just get in the way of enjoying the peaceful serenity to be found in bouncing down the trail while holding on for dear life.

It takes a level of persistence that many won't be inclined to reach. [Issue#340, p.120]

After playing six hours I can say: "Lonely Mountains: Downhill" is a little masterpiece. It's difficult and at the same time hilarious. The tracks are varied and it is a lot of fun to discover new shortcuts to finally master them to beat the record.
The game also runs smooth and the controls work so precisely that I, unfortunately, have to admit that a drop is my own fault. It has never been so much fun to hit my nose again and again^^.

So who has to play this game?:
You like to chase high scores? You like sports games? You like speed runs or just want to relax in the evening and test your skills? Then this is the game for you. There are two ways of enjoying the game. The first is just bicycling downhill to discover and enjoy the beautiful landscapes, the second is master the various challenges and break the community records.
    Well done ;)

The game is absolutely stellar if you're into purely sports games that reward delicate skill and a good amount of work to master them. However for the people that are mostly in for the fun and the exploration it is not their cup of tea because within a few minutes the exploration part of each level is done so roughly speaking the game is 80 to 90% purely e-sports skill based.
